The Thought For Today

How Republicans Will Govern – “The People’s Work – ‘One in five US children now rely on food stamps’ – ‘House Republicans Pass Deep Cuts in Food Stamps’

Republicans refuse to raise the minimum wage and cut funding for food stamps and other social safety net programs.

And then tell us it’s Obama’s fault that so many children need food stamps.

The number of children in the United States relying on food stamps for a meal spiked to 16 million last year, according federal data, signaling a lopsided economic recovery in which lower income families are still lagging behind’.

‘The roughly one in five children who received food stamps in 2014 surpassed pre-recession levels, when one in eight or 9 million children were on food stamps, according to the U.S. Census survey of American families released on Wednesday’.(1)

‘WASHINGTON — House Republicans narrowly pushed through a bill on Thursday that slashes billions of dollars from the food stamp program, over the objections of Democrats and a veto threat from President Obama’.(2)

Hypocrisy – How Republicans Will Govern – ‘Mitch McConnell Begs Senate Democrats To Stop Filibustering Keystone XL’

’90 percent of Americans want expanded background checks on guns’.(1)

‘GOP filibuster kills background checks'(2)

Did the American People ‘deserve’ this Mitch?

‘Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell responded to Democrats successfully filibustering the Keystone XL bill by practically begging Democrats to allow the bill to move forward’.

Mitch McConnell :

“The Keystone jobs bill is a bipartisan infrastructure project the American people deserve”.

FEAR!!!! – How Republicans Will Govern – ‘Jindal Warns Of Sharia “Colonization,” “Invasion” Of America That Would Lead To Lone Wolf Attacks’

jindal on no go zones

‘Debunking the Myth of Muslim-Only Zones in Major European Cities'(1)

One of the better reads on the debunking of the’no go zones’. They simply don’t exist excpet in the minds of fearful right wing idiots.
‘Louisiana Gov. Bobby Jindal, a potential Republican candidate for president, warned in an interview Monday on the Family Research Council’s Washington Watch radio program of the possibility of so-called Muslim “no go zones” coming to America, focusing later on what he called a possible sharia “colonization” and “invasion” of America’.

“If we’re not careful the same no-go zones you’re seeing now in Europe will come to America,” said Jindal singling out those in “academic” and “media elite” who he said “don’t want to proclaim American exceptionalism.”

But Of Course There Is NO War On A Woman’s Choice – ‘Gohmert: ‘Our Republican females sent entirely wrong message’ by wanting rape exception to abortion ban’

louie gohmert

The ‘wrong message’ being women shouldn’t have a choice – just do what men tell you…..

“I’m told that they’re still going to bring it back, but because there was such division among our Republican females, they pulled the bill that day,” he pointed out. “And that was extremely unfortunate, and it sent the entirely wrong message.”

‘During a conference call with pastor E.W. Jackson on Tuesday, Gohmert urged conservatives to continue to pressure Republicans in Congress even after bills like the 20-week abortion ban did not pass as expected’.

“Most of the conference was 100 percent in favor of the bill that was going to be brought to the floor. Some of us were wishing that there would not be any exceptions because it was going to be 20 weeks — no abortions after 20 weeks — when the evidence is clear those babies feel.”

“But there was an exception put on there that unless there was a case of reported rape — reported to authorities.”
