The Day in a Quote

How Republicans Will Govern – Debunking The Republican Lies – ‘Native Americans Put GOP On Notice: Keystone Pipeline Is ‘An Act Of War Against Our People’

Here’s you ‘thousands of jobs’ straight from a Trans Canada official.

The Keystone XL pipeline will create 50 full time jobs after the 18 months construction.

Also in the legislation – the Canadian company, Trans Canada –  will have NO, I repeat NO liability as to any leaks.

Any damage caused by leaks will be for the ‘local residents” to clean up.

‘With Mitch McConnell prepared to take control of the Senate and honor his promise to Big Oil by pushing the passage of a bill for the construction of the Keystone XL pipeline, the battle lines are already forming’.

‘Sending a 2015 New Year’s message, Native Americans, along with environmental groups, took to the streets of Washington to tell President Obama and the GOP-controlled Congress that construction of the Keystone XL pipeline will be an “act of war.”

‘Cyril Scott, president of the Rosebud Sioux Tribe of South Dakota has already declared’:

“The Rosebud Sioux Tribe will not allow this pipeline through our lands. We are outraged at the lack of intergovernmental cooperation. We are a sovereign nation and we are not being treated as such. We will close our reservation boarders to Keystone XL. Authorizing Keystone XL is an act of war against our people.”

‘Vowing to take action to stop the pipeline, Scott stated’:

“We’re going to do everything within our powers to protect our homelands, our people, and as I said, our children and grandchildren – your children and your grandchildren.”

As part of this recent demonstration against the threatened passage of this legislation, leaders of the protest issued a statement:

“Keystone XL Pipeline is not in the national interest, has the potential to contaminate the nation’s largest freshwater aquifer, and puts the lives of all people who live along its path in serious danger.”

The Republican War On Women – ‘The Cost of Not Voting: 231 New Abortion Restrictions Enacted Since the 2010 Elections’

war on women10

not voting

You have a right to choose not to vote.

And Republicans took the right of you choosing making decisions about your body away form you.

Sound like a fair trade off?

‘The Guttmacher Institute released frightening numbers Monday morning’.

‘These numbers are a real slap in the face to those who stayed home from midterm elections but have an interest or stake in women’s freedom and liberty’.

  • ‘All in all, they have determined that 231 new abortion restrictions were put into place since the 2010 midterm elections brought us a wave of the Republican extremists’.

‘Via a Guttmacher press release Monday morning’:

“During the 2014 state legislative session, lawmakers introduced 335 provisions aimed at restricting access to abortion”.

“By the end of the year, 15 states had enacted 26 new abortion restrictions. Including these new provisions, states have adopted 231 new abortion restrictions since the 2010 midterm elections swept abortion opponents into power in state capitals across the country”.

‘One cost of staying home is that “The large number of recently enacted abortion restrictions has dramatically reshaped the landscape for women seeking an abortion,” according to Guttmacher. Indeed, “The entire South is now considered hostile to abortion rights, and much of the South, along with much of the Midwest, is extremely hostile to abortion rights.”

Destroying America – How teabagger Republicans Would Govern – ‘Tea Party Rep. Louie Gohmert Claims America Will Be Destroyed If He Isn’t Elected House Speaker’

louie gohmert

‘The fear mongering has begun in GOP Rep. Louie Gohmert’s effort to replace John Boehner as Speaker of the House’.

‘During a Monday appearance on Fox News, the Texas congressman predicted that America would face utter devastation if he wasn’t promoted to the Speaker position by his fellow Republicans’.

“There are people in the party that are willing to stand up and fight for the very things we promised we would do. And we can do those things. We can put Obama on the defensive just by completely getting rid of the Internal Revenue code. We can do that”.

“They are so fed up that we are not fighting for what we said, and if we don’t show them that, it’s going to devastate this country. We could have another Democratic president in 2016. We have got to show the American people that they don’t need to abandon the Republican Party”.

“For the Speaker to run in and pass the [budget bill] that totally funds Obamacare for all next year — we took the hostage of the Homeland Security — that was a huge mistake. For Boehner to rush in when we had the control of the Senate coming into our hands this month, this week, and to make a deal with [Obama] that funds everything that Obama wanted for the year except Homeland Security is like [General] Custer saying, ‘Come on boys, let’s attack now before help gets here.’”

How Republicans Will Govern – The Republican Religious Right – ‘Pat Robertson Says Non-Religious Children Should Be Beaten Until They Respect Christian Beliefs’

pat robertson1

‘In another example demonstrating that Pat Robertson believes in persecuting non-Christians and indoctrinating children, the televangelist openly suggested that parents should beat their kids until they respect Christian beliefs’.

‘During yet another shameful episode of the 700 Club, which runs on Disney-owned channel ABC Family, Robertson received an email from a woman who claimed that her grandson disrespects their Christian faith when they visit their daughter on Christmas and chose not to visit this past year’.

“We declined going to our daughter’s house on Christmas this year because there is always an argument, hard feelings etc.,” viewer Karen wrote’.

“One grandchild comes high on marijuana, cursing and challenging our faith. I correct him and have told my daughter to ask him to respect our beliefs, but he keeps it up. Our daughter say she is a Christian but will drink too much and offend her daughter and her husband. Were we wrong to not to attend another Christmas that leaves us upset or someone angry? I have shared my beliefs many times with them and am ridiculed by this grandson and son-in-law.”

Fatherly Pat Robertson :

“Somebody take that kid to the woodshed and let him understand the blessings of discipline,” Robertson advised before predicting that the kid would end up in prison if a strong male figure didn’t start beating him right away.

“He needs a strong male figure. He’s going to wind up in a correctional institution, and the next thing you know, he’s going to be doing hard time in some prison. And then he would wish he wasn’t such a smart, you know, wise guy. Because he’ll be disciplined in a way that he’ll never forget in some prison… He needs discipline in the worst possible way.”

Voter Supression – How Republicans Will Govern – ‘Senator proposes bill to close Utah primaries’

In Utah, Democrats allow anyone to vote for any candidate in the Utah primaries.

Republicans don’t. In 2002 Republicans only allowed Republicans to vote for Republicans in the primaries.

So the Utah legislature over turned that allowing open voting in primaries.

Now Republicans want to go back and restrict that.

Only Republicans can vote for Republicans in the primaries.

Who cares?

If you’re an Independent voter and nearly half in Utah are, unless you vote Democrat, you will have no say as to who the Republican candadite is.

‘State Sen. Scott Jenkins is firing the first shot in a legislative battle that may dilute or overturn a new law that changes how parties select their nominees’.

‘Jenkins unveiled a bill, SB43, to erase a new requirement for parties appearing on the ballot to allow independent voters to participate in their primary elections. Democrats have allowed that for years, but the Utah GOP, beginning in 2002, closed its primaries to everyone except registered Republicans’.

‘It’s a big deal because 43.6 percent of Utah voters are now unaffiliated, compared to 45.5 percent who are registered as Republicans and 9.4 percent registered as Democrats. If the nearly half of Utahns who are independents can’t vote in primaries, they have no say about who appears on the general-election ballot’.
