Why Does Mitt Romney Lie So Easy And Often? – ‘Mitt Romney Has Been Telling A Huge Whopper About The Auto Industry, And His Campaign Is Finally Paying For It’

Remember this? Mitt Romney’s first ad against President Obama?

‘November 23rd, 2011’
(CNN) – ‘GOP presidential hopeful Mitt Romney on Wednesday stood by his first TV ad this week that stirred controversy for taking President Barack Obama’s comments out of context’.

“There was no hidden effort on the part of our campaign,” Romney said at a campaign stop in Des Moines, Iowa’.

‘The ad features then-candidate Obama on the campaign trail in 2008, saying “If we keep talking about the economy, we’re going to lose.”

‘But the 60-second spot failed to point out that Obama was actually quoting his opponent, Republican Sen. John McCain, at the time’.
From : http://politicalticker.blogs.cnn.com/2011/11/23/romney-on-ad-sauce-for-the-goose-now-sauce-for-the-gander/

And now this.

Boy America! Don’t you want a President who just openly and so easily lies about everything so that it’s impossible to debate actuall issues?

I DO! I DO ! I DO!

‘Mitt Romney is facing intense pushback today over a new Ohio campaign ad that appears to suggest — falsely — that Chrysler is moving U.S. jobs to China’.

‘The ad doubles down on a statement that Romney made on the campaign trail last week, when he told a crowd in Defiance, Ohio, that Chrysler was moving production on its Jeep models from Ohio to China’.

“I saw a story today that one of the great manufacturers in this state, Jeep, now owned by the Italians, is thinking of moving all production to China,” Romney said. “I will fight for every good job in America.”

‘The claim is completely misleading and false, and provoked an outcry from Democrats and reporters’.

‘The report, from Bloomberg, actually said that Chrysler is talking about adding Jeep production in China in order to serve the Chinese market. Jeep production in North America would continue unchanged’.

‘But despite the fact that Romney’s claim was demonstrably wrong, his campaign is doubling down in the new ad, which went on air this weekend in Ohio’.

“Obama took GM and Chrysler into bankruptcy, and sold Chrysler to Italians who are going to build Jeeps in China,” the ad says. “Mitt Romney will fight for every American job.”

‘Romney campaign aides have pointed out that the ad doesn’t actually say that Chrysler is moving U.S. jobs to China’.

‘Still, that message is strongly implied’.

‘Ads that mislead or stretch the truth are nothing new for presidential campaigns’.

‘But this ad — and Romney’s comments last week — has prompted harsh criticism from the media, likely because it strikes reporters as not only disingenuous, but irresponsible’.

‘For Romney to suggest that the livelihoods of specific voters — namely workers at the Jeep plant in Toledo — are in danger in order to win an election comes across to many as the type of fear-mongering that no one wants in a president’.

A ‘Conservative’ vision for America – ‘House GOP Voted To Cut Disaster Relief In Order To Preserve Military Spending’

‘As part of their bill to void the military spending cuts included in the Budget Control Act — which was passed as a result of 2011’s GOP inspired debt ceiling standoff — House Republicans proposed eliminating a program that helps states and localities respond to disasters like hurricanes’.

‘The House Republicans’ Sequester Replacement Reconciliation Act of 2012, which was passed without a single Democratic vote’,

‘Called for zeroing out funding for the Social Services Block Grant (SSBG), a program that provides funding to state and local governments to aid needy children, adults, and the disabled’.

‘As the Center for Budget and Policy Priorities noted, the SSBG also offers assistance for disaster relief’:

“The SSBG has served as a conduit for emergency appropriations to help residents and communities respond to the additional social service and health needs resulting from natural disasters, such as floods, wildfires, and hurricanes”.

‘Republicans last year held disaster relief funding hostage several times, demanding offsetting budget cuts. They also attempted to slash disaster funding in a 2011 continuing resolution’.

Hurricane Sandy – The Perfect Storm

To all our brothers and sisters on the East Coast, our thoughts and prayers are with you along with some rescue workers.

Even all the way from Spokane Washington.

So stay safe, stay warm.

The Daily 2012 – Calling the election -‘Romney Campaign Brushes Off “538” Projections’ Or why Colorado, Virginia and Nevada AREN’T really ‘battleground’ States’

Nate Silver – “Nobody is, or ought to be, ‘calling’ the election,” Silver said. “We do have Obama favored, since he’s ahead in the polling averages in states that would suffice for him to win the Electoral College… But the odds are, also, that Nov. 6 will be a long night.”
From : http://www.buzzfeed.com/mckaycoppins/romney-campaign-brushes-off-538-projections

I didn’t get that memo.

But look for Romney to blame Obama for the ‘lack of response’ to Sandy.

Well I have jury duty. Here in Spokane County, you go in for the first day and they’ll select who will and won’t be needed. So on a day to day basis for the week, you may or may not serve.
Repeat for the second week.

So don’t know if or even how many posts I will be getting in. More focused on getting people to vote.

Don’t even bother with the National polls. In fact, when some network news starts ‘explaining’ a National poll, think about this – we don’t elect our President by popular vote.

We elect them by the Electoral College.

And National polls are also affected by demographics methodology and ‘crashing’ – each candidate getting 10%, 15% or more percentage wins in certain States thus skewing the rest of the States in a National poll.

On the popular vote – I still think Romney will win. Very close.

But on calling the race, President Obama wins 294 to Romney’s 244.

And the times at which some races are called will vary. With so much competition, the networks will want to be the first but also not want to blow a call too.

A ‘Conservative’ vision for America – ‘Mitt Romney In GOP Debate: Shut Down Federal Disaster Agency, Send Responsibility To The States’

Wait!!

A ‘moderate’ Mitt Update!!!!

‘UPDATE 10:04 p.m.–‘
‘A Romney official sought to clarify the former governor’s remarks Sunday evening’.
“Gov. Romney wants to ensure states, who are the first responders and are in the best position to aid impacted individuals and communities, have the resources and assistance they need to cope with natural disasters,” the Romney official said’.

SO which Mitt is going to Govern?

The one that wants to ‘send’ FEMA back to the States? (Love those States Rights Guys!)

‘Ryan’s 2012 budget took a similar approach to disaster funding. As The Hill noted in May 2012, Ryan’s budget called for any disaster relief funding to “be fully offset within the discretionary levels provided in this resolution.” In other words, Congress would have to agree on cuts elsewhere in the budget if it wanted to dole out funds after a disaster’.
From : http://thinkprogress.org/election/2012/10/28/1102471/romney-ryan-disaster-relief/

Or the Mitt that wants to ‘ensure states have the resources and assistance they need’ and not have to say how?

‘During a CNN debate at the height of the GOP primary, Mitt Romney was asked, in the context of the Joplin disaster and FEMA’s cash crunch, whether the agency should be shuttered so that states can individually take over responsibility for disaster response’.

“Absolutely,” he said. “Every time you have an occasion to take something from the federal government and send it back to the states, that’s the right direction. And if you can go even further, and send it back to the private sector, that’s even better. Instead of thinking, in the federal budget, what we should cut, we should ask the opposite question, what should we keep?”

“Including disaster relief, though?” debate moderator John King asked Romney’.

“We cannot — we cannot afford to do those things without jeopardizing the future for our kids,” Romney replied. “It is simply immoral, in my view, for us to continue to rack up larger and larger debts and pass them on to our kids, knowing full well that we’ll all be dead and gone before it’s paid off. It makes no sense at all.”

The Mitt Romney Lies #97 – ‘Romney Auto Bailout Ad Tells Four Myths In 30 Seconds’

‘As Mitt Romney continues to struggle to explain his various positions on the auto rescue that saved General Motors and Chrysler, his presidential campaign has released an ad about the bailout that is littered with falsehoods and misdirections’.

(Why is it so hard to say Mitt Romney is lying?)

‘The 30-second ad is running in Ohio, a state where Romney is trailing in the polls and has been battered by the Obama campaign for his opposition to the auto rescue. Here is a breakdown of the ad’s misleading, and sometimes false, claims’:

1. “Mitt Romney has a plan to help the auto industry.” No specific plan is referenced in the ad, and Romney’s campaign web site does not include a plan to “help the auto industry.”

2. “[Romney] is supported by Lee Iaccoca and the Detroit News.” Chrysler Chairman Lee Iaccoca has indeed endorsed Romney. The Detroit News, a self-described “conservative newspaper,” endorsed him last week. But in that endorsement, the paper slammed Romney’s “wrong-headedness on the auto bailout.”

3. “Obama took GM and Chrysler into bankruptcy.” Obama did take both companies into a managed bankruptcy, the path Romney says was originally his idea. Romney, however, supported private sector financing of the bankruptcy, a plan that was “pure fantasy” at the time since no private lenders could lend to the companies in the middle of the financial crisis. Without federal intervention, the companies would have almost assuredly collapsed, costing 1.3 million jobs, according to industry estimates’.

4. “[Obama] sold Chrysler to Italians who are going to build Jeeps in China.” This week, Romney claimed he read a news story that said Chrysler was planning to “moving all production to China.” The Bloomberg News piece he referenced, though, made it clear that Fiat, the Italian company that now owns Chrysler, was opening new factories in China to make Jeeps for Chinese consumers. No American plants will be closed, and no American jobs will be lost’.

Come On America!

VOTE ROMNEY/RYAN!

We NEED f-o-u-r- l-o-n-g y-e-a-r-s for this!
‘Obama Campaign spokesman Matt McGrath called Romney’s comments “blatantly false.”

“At an event in Defiance, Ohio tonight, Mitt Romney shamelessly tried to scare voters into thinking Jeep was moving to China and taking American jobs with it,” he said. “That is blatantly false, and speaks to how Romney will say absolutely anything to win votes’.

“The truth is that Chrysler is not moving its Jeep production from America to China. As Chrysler said today, ‘Jeep has no intention of shifting production of its Jeep models out of North America to China’.
Washington — ‘Republican presidential hopeful Mitt Romney told a rally in northern Ohio on Thursday night that Chrysler was considering moving production of its Jeep vehicles to China, apparently reacting to incorrect reports circulating online’.

“I saw a story today that one of the great manufacturers in this state Jeep — now owned by the Italians — is thinking of moving all production to China,” Romney said at a rally in Defiance, Ohio, home to a General Motors powertrain plant. “I will fight for every good job in America. I’m going to fight to make sure trade is fair, and if it’s fair America will win.”

‘Romney was apparently responding to reports Thursday on right-leaning blogs that misinterpreted a recent Bloomberg News story earlier this week that said Chrysler, owned by Italian automaker Fiat SpA, is thinking of building Jeeps in China for sale in the Chinese market’.

This IS Mitt Romney – ‘Mitt Romney goes mum on Mourdock mess’

He hasn’t yet.

Come on America!

‘Mitt Romney is under increasing pressure today to further distance himself from Richard Mourdock after the Indiana GOP Senate candidate’s remarks about rape and God created a national firestorm. Mitt Romney failed to stand up to Rush Limbaugh –

‘Romney: Limbaugh remarks “not language I would have used”
“I’ll just say this, which is, it’s not the language I would have used,” Romney told reporters after an event in Cleveland. Instead, he said, “I’m focusing on the issues that I think are significant in the country today, and that’s why I’m here talking about jobs and Ohio.”

A national Conservative radio talk show host calls a female college student a ‘slut’ for supporting Government funded access to birth control health care and Mitt Romney says that’s not the ‘language he’d use’ or ‘significant’.

‘Fischer Calls Out Romney: ‘How Is He Going to Stand Up to North Korea if He Can Be Pushed around by a Yokel Like Me?’
‘American Family Association spokesman Bryan Fischer poked fun at Mitt Romney today on Focal Point following the resignation of Richard Grenell, an openly gay Romney spokesman on security issues’.

“I don’t think for one minute that Mitt Romney did not want this guy gone,” Fischer continued, “he wanted this guy gone because there was not one word of defense, not a peep, from the Romney camp to defend him.”
