Washington’s 5th District – ‘Republican McMorris Rodgers explains food aid cut…”it will speed up the legislative process’ and – ‘Divided GOP can’t agree on food stamps’
By the way….US Representative Cathy McMorris-Rodgers voted FOR the sequester cuts but now proudly and stupidly stands in front of the sign proclaiming ‘Obamaquester’.
Cathy McMorris-Rodgers is my US House Representative and also part of the Republican leadership.
And she actually sat there with a straight face and said splitting up the farm bill will ‘speed up the legislative process’….
The only question is does she think we are that stupid or is she that stupid?
I have rocks in my backyard smarter then Cathy McMorris-Rodgers…….
‘A farm bill approved last week in the U.S. House of Representatives divorcing agriculture subsidies from food aid to the poor was designed to speed up the legislative process, Rep. Cathy McMorris Rodgers said Thursday’.
‘The House’s plan, passed with strictly Republican support July 11, contained no outlays for food stamps, redubbed the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program in 2008. But McMorris Rodgers doesn’t think the bill will emerge from a conference with the Senate unless funds for food programs are reinstated’.
“I really don’t see that happening,” McMorris Rodgers said’.
‘The House also plans to bring a separate SNAP funding measure to the floor for a vote within a week, she said’.

And the separate SNAP funding….?
‘Divided House Republicans can’t agree on a food stamp bill, dimming hopes that a farm bill conference can begin before the August recess’.
‘House Agriculture Committee Chairman Frank Lucas (R-Okla.) warned Friday that no one should expect action anytime soon given fights among House Republicans over how much to cut food stamps’.
‘He said he’d told Sen. Debbie Stabenow (D-Mich.), who leads the Senate Agriculture Committee, of the difficulty’.
“As I told the chairwoman yesterday, we are still in an effort in the House trying to achieve some consensus on a nutrition bill, and that’s not been accomplished yet,” he said. “It’s pretty tough.”
