Republicans Hold America Hostage – ‘Government shutdown looms over ObamaCare’

obstruction

‘ObamaCare is at the center of a rapidly escalating fight that threatens to shut the government down this fall’.

‘Senate Republicans, including two members of the leadership, are coalescing around a proposal to block any government funding resolution that includes money for the implementation of the 2010 Affordable Care Act’.

‘In the House, 64 Republicans have signed onto a letter pressing Boehner not to bring any legislation funding ObamaCare to the floor’.

‘Sen. Mike Lee (R-Utah), the leader of the Senate effort, predicts the vast majority of the Senate Republican Conference will back his plan, giving him enough votes to sustain a filibuster of a stopgap spending measure’.

“This is the last stop before ObamaCare fully kicks in on Jan. 1 of next year for us to refuse to fund it,” Lee said Monday on “Fox and Friends.”

“If Republicans in both houses simply refuse to vote for any continuing resolution that contains further funding for further enforcement of ObamaCare, we can stop it. We can stop the individual mandate from going into effect,” he said’.

“We have 64 of my colleagues on this letter and we’re asking the leadership not to bring anything to the floor that has funding for ObamaCare in it,” said Rep. Mark Meadows (R-N.C.), who is spearheading the House effort’.

‘Several influential members of the Republican conference are backing the controversial tactic, including Senate Republican Whip John Cornyn (Texas) and Sen. John Thune (S.D.), the second- and third-ranking members of the GOP leadership, respectively’.

‘Sen. Marco Rubio (Fla.), who is widely considered a front-runner for the Republican presidential nomination in 2016, has also signed on’.

‘Earlier this month, he spoke out in favor of holding hostage the government operation funds to freeze the rollout of the controversial healthcare law at a breakfast sponsored by Concerned Veterans for America’.

‘Those remarks were viewed as an attempt to appease the GOP base after he helped shepherd a controversial immigration bill through the Senate’.

“You want to delay implementation? Don’t fund it,” Rubio said at the July 11 breakfast. “If we have a six-month continuing resolution, we should defund the implementation of ObamaCare by those six months … I will not vote for a continuing resolution unless it defunds ObamaCare.”

‘An aide to Lee said Republicans won’t be blamed for a shutdown because they will offer legislation to fund all other government operations except for those necessary to establish the new healthcare law’.

‘Lee’s proposal could become an issue in Republican primary races next year’.
“[It’s] gonna be fun to watch,” a senior Democratic aide said. “For now, we’ll just stand back and let them debate this amongst themselves.”

Another senior Democratic aide said: “ObamaCare is working and is here to stay — unlike some members of the Republican caucus if they keep dragging the country from manufactured crisis to manufactured crisis.”

But it’s NOT Republican Obstructionism – ‘The new normal’

obstruction1

Holding America hostage over their political ideology.

‘This morning, John Boehner made it official: Republicans intend to stage another confrontation over the debt ceiling, and will insist on a dollar in spending cuts for every dollar in any debt limit increase they agree to’:

“We’re not going to raise the debt ceiling without real cuts in spending. It’s as simple as that,” he said at a press conference’.

“I believe the so-called Boehner Rule is the right formula for getting that done,” he said, referring to the notion that any increase in the statutory debt limit should be accompanied by an equivalent amount of spending cuts’.

‘The interesting thing about this is that Boehner himself has repeatedly conceded in front of roomfuls of reporters that not raising the debt ceiling could wreak havoc with the U.S. economy’.

A ‘Conservative’ vision for America – WAR! – ‘U.S. Senator Wants Resolution Authorizing War With Iran If ‘Nothing Changes’ In Two Months’

lindsey graham1

For far too many Conservatives….Fighting other Countries is more important then fighting to save our own…..

‘Sen. Lindsey Graham (R-SC) said on Tuesday that he plans to introduce a resolution authorizing war with Iran if “nothing changes” regarding the Islamic Republic’s nuclear program by the end of the year’.

“If nothing changes in Iran, come September, October, I will present a resolution that will authorize the use of military force to prevent Iran from developing a nuclear bomb,” Graham told a “cheering” audience at a conference put on by the right-wing group Christians United for Israel, according to CQ Roll Call’.

‘Source: Team McConnell ‘Tried to Threaten’ Likely Tea-Party Opponent’

mitch mcconnell3

It’s going to get Dirty in Kentucky!!

‘Allies of Senator Mitch McConnell pushed Matt Bevin, a Kentucky businessman on the cusp of announcing he will run against McConnell in the state’s GOP primary, to stay out of the race, according to an adviser close to Bevin’.

‘McConnell’s campaign denies the allegations’.

“Mitch McConnell’s people reached out to Matt for several months through all different avenues trying to convince him not to run,” the adviser close to Bevin tells National Review Online. “They can pretend like they’re not afraid, they can call him a nuisance, but they were desperate not to have him. Because they are scared.”

“First they tried to threaten him,” the source added, “and then they tried to dangle shiny political prizes.”

“He’s going to need to defend his record,” says Bevin adviser Nachama Soloveichik of McConnell. “We have binders and binders as well. Every binder they have, I’ll match them two binders.”

‘McConnell campaign manager Jesse Benton told NRO yesterday that “we have a very, very thick, plentiful opposition-research book on this guy [Bevin] that is just full of disqualifying material.”

“[He] voted for all the bailouts,” Soloveichik says, “voted for amnesty, voted to raise the debt ceiling at least nine times. He orchestrated the boondoggle debt ceiling deal of 2011. He voted for higher taxes. He’s been one of the biggest culprits of bigger spending. He’s been a pork king. He voted for bridge to nowhere. The list goes on and on.”

‘Look for the Bevin campaign to highlight McConnell’s record on those issues’.
