‘Republicans Move the Budget Goal Posts Again’

Perhaps worse then the Republican’s being the ‘Party Of No’, they are becoming the “Party That Won’t Say Yes’.

That’s what President Obama is doing with this budget.

To show clearly once again that even though he is offering what Repuyblican leaders want – they still refuse it.

‘Greg Sargent notes President Obama has included budget items specifically asked for by Sen. Mitch McConnell and Speaker John Boehner “to show he’s serious” but now it’s not good enough’.

“In late December, a Boehner aide told Bloomberg News that the Speaker wanted Chained CPI more than other entitlement cuts, such as raising the Medicare eligibility age, as the two were negotiation over a possible cuts-for-revenues swap to avert the fiscal cliff.”

“And in late November, Mitch McConnell explicitly told the Wall Street Journal that if Obama offered entitlement changes such as Chained CPI and Medicare means testing, Republicans would consider new revenue. He actually said this: ‘those are the kinds of things that would get Republicans interested in new revenue.'”

‘The bottom line: “There is literally nothing that Obama can offer Republicans — not even things they themselves have asked for — that would induce them to agree to a compromise on new revenues.”

Why it’s called the ‘Stupid Party’ – ‘James Inhofe: Gun Debate Has Nothing To Do With Families Of Newtown Victims’

If the Newtown shootings hadn’t happened, we wouldn’t be having any gun control debate.

But then again, Inhofe is one of the real tea bagger ‘patriots’ that wants to filibuster ANY gun control legislation.

WASHINGTON — ‘Sen. James Inhofe (R-Okla.) said Tuesday that the gun control debate doesn’t have anything to do with the families of the Newtown, Conn., shooting victims, and that the only reason those families think it does is because President Barack Obama told them it did’.

‘Speaking to a handful of reporters, Inhofe said he feels bad for those families because they’re being used as pawns in a political fight’.

“See, I think it’s so unfair of the administration to hurt these families, to make them think this has something to do with them when, in fact, it doesn’t,” Inhofe said’.

‘When it was suggested that the families of Newtown victims actually believe the gun debate pertains to them, Inhofe said, “Well, that’s because they’ve been told that by the president.”

‘Just look at this picture for a moment. Let the words sink in. This picture, being circulated by conservatives, implies that these youths are some form of Obama-created fighting force, called the FEMA Corp’.

‘The origin of this accusation comes from a right-wing conspiracy website called It Makes Sense Blog. On it, you find numerous radical conspiracies of a similar nature. They themselves appear to have derived this particular one from this very strange piece from YouTube’.

‘As found in Factcheck, the program being discussed is a program begun by the Boy Scouts of America over 60 years ago, the Explorers program’.

‘One form of this program is titled the Law Enforcement Exploring program, and was designed to teach crime fighting skills to those between the ages of 14 and 20’.

‘The pictures come from a New York Times article where one group of the LEE youth participated in a mock raid on a marijuana facility to give them the feeling of what the police can and do experience on a regular basis’.

‘They were outfitted with dummy weapons, as one can note, with the red tips, and given the chance to find out for themselves what it means to be a drug enforcement officer’.

‘As for the FEMA Corp, the name comes from the FEMA webpage for their AmeriCorp partnership program titled “FEMA-Corp.”

‘This group of 1600 AmeriCorp volunteers have been trained in FEMA procedures related to helping distribute goods in case of a federal disaster’.

‘This group was critical for Hurricane Sandy relief. So much for being a bunch of crazy kids out to take guns, the real corp in this case was too busy handing out water and food to those areas destroyed by Hurricane Sandy’.

‘Televangelist Pat Robertson is not happy about Secretary of State John Kerry’s push for a peace agreement between the Israelis and Palestinians. In fact, the 700 Club host warned that Kerry is “asking for the wrath of Almighty God to fall on this nation.”

‘He claimed that any deal that includes territorial concessions to the Palestinians, including Arab neighborhoods of Jerusalem, will lead to divine retribution and “catastrophic” consequences’.

“I think this is headed for disaster for the United States,” Robertson said, “We should do everything we can to restrain our leaders from this course of folly and it is a course of folly and it will result in terrible suffering for people in the United States.”
