“All bow to the NRA and the fear and hate they spread that stopped common sense” – ‘Senate Sets Flurry of Crucial Votes on Gun Measures, Some Expanding Rights’

To preface……

I’m a gun owner.

None of the legislation pending would in any way ‘infringe’ on my Right to own a weapon.

Some would however, place RESPONSIBILITIES on gun ownership.

Maybe, just maybe THAT is what is scaring the so called 2nd Amendment fanatics.

When the Newtown killings first happened, I hoped that at the very least we’d put in place criminal and medical data bases combined with a ‘universal’ background check system.

I was also hoping to ban some of the military assault style weapons and clip size.

An AR-15 with 30 round clips is not for ‘protection’ but rather offensive weapons.

The argument that ‘criminals won’t follow the law’ misses two points.

#1 that is the point as criminals will then be limited in where to get weapons and #2 – if criminals don’t/won’t follow the law – why have any laws?

But to me, the biggest point of gun legislation is the 2nd Amendment –

“A well regulated Militia, being necessary to the security of a free State, the right of the people to keep and bear Arms, shall not be infringed”.

-It seems very clear to me that the Founding Fathers would have no problem with us ‘regulating’ the ownership of weapons.

Everyone seems to forget the first part of the Second Amendment.

At any rate, it now seems we won’t even be able to get a watered down, loophole ridden ‘back ground check’ through the Senate much less the House.

So to the 6 adults and 20 children murdered in Newton and the countless others that are murdered in America, the Greatest Nation on Earth, I am sorry we failed you.

Well the people we elect to represent us, who take millions of dollars and countless perks from business and the wealthy so make excuses on why they are not going to protect (cough) we the people.

They are the ones who failed you.

We are just to cowardly to vote them out.

‘Shocker: 70 Percent Say GOP Not ‘In Touch With Most Americans’

out of touch

Two threads I run are ‘Why it’s called the ‘Stupid Party’ and ‘What is wrong with the Republican Party’ are not isolated events.

They are constant themes within the Republican party.

So this is not surprising……..

‘A new ABC/Washington Post poll shows that the Republican Party has alienated itself from both the American public and its base’.

‘Only 23 percent say the GOP is “in touch with most Americans,” less than half who say the same about President Obama, at 51 percent’.

‘But 70 percent, nearly 3 out of 4 Americans, say the GOP is not in touch with the public.

“Among residents of the red states, those Obama lost by 6 or more points in 2012, 68 percent say the GOP is out of touch with the concerns of most Americans,” according to the report produced by Langer Research Associates.

‘Even 55 percent of “very” conservative voters and 64 percent of “evangelical” voters agree Republicans are not “in touch.”

‘Americans support a path to citizenship for non-citizen immigrants by a nearly 2-to-1 margin. This was true whether respondents were asked about “illegal immigrants” or “undocumented immigrants,” the term preferred by the immigrant community and recently adopted by the Associated Press’.

‘Nearly 9 out of 10, 86 percent, of Americans support extending background checks to gun shows and online sales. Bans on assault weapons and high-capacity magazines also have majority support at 56 percent despite their dismal chances of becoming law under the current Congress’.

‘One-third say they’ve been personally hurt by the automatic budget cuts negotiated during the debt limit crisis of 2011. That’s up 8 percent from last month. And 57 percent say they disapprove of the cuts, while about 6 out of 10 Democrats and Republicans say the sequester is hurting the economy’.

Why it’s called the ‘Stupid Party’ – ‘N.H. rep. condemned for using ‘vagina’ as synonym for ‘woman’ in all-House email’

state rep steve hansen

Oh it’s OK. He was ‘taken out of context’.

Actually he wasn’t.

“What could possibly be missing from those factual tales of successful retreat in VT, Germany, and the bowels of Amsterdam? Why children and vagina’s of course,” Hansen wrote’.

‘A state representative said he was just trying to emphasize a point when he used “vagina” as a synonym for “woman” in an email to the full House earlier this month’.

‘Rep. Peter Hansen, an Amherst Republican serving his second term, wrote in an April 1 email to the all-House email list that “children and vagina’s” were missing from a fellow representative’s anecdotes during the debate over whether to repeal New Hampshire’s 2011 “stand your ground” law’.

‘Hansen said yesterday his comment was being taken out of context’.

‘He said he had been responding to Rep. Steve Vaillancourt, a Manchester Republican who supported the bill to repeal the stand your ground self-defense law enacted in 2011’.

‘Hansen said he was arguing in his email that the situations could have been different had a woman with children, and not a man, been in danger’.

“What could possibly be missing from those factual tales of successful retreat in VT, Germany, and the bowels of Amsterdam? Why children and vagina’s of course,” Hansen wrote in the April 1 email’.

teabagger Alert!! – It’s All Obama’s Fault – ‘Tea Party Nation: Boston Attack Occurred Because Obama Administration Is ‘Not Committed to Protecting America’

judson phillips

From the Tea Party Nation’s Judson Phillips :

“Unfortunately the sad truth is we will be hit again. It will happen sooner or later. It will probably be sooner than later”.

“There are two reasons why we will be hit again. First, we have a determined enemy who hates us. Second, we have a government that is not committed to protecting America”.

“It is a pretty safe bet right now that this attack was carried out by an Islamist. It was a well-coordinated attack. In its publication, Al-Qaeda in the Arabian Peninsula called for just this kind of attack”.

“While the government and media have fallen all over themselves to downplay this fact, there is a twenty-year-old Saudi student being detained as a “person of interest.”

“Person of interest in a nice police term that is used for someone who is not under arrest and therefore does not have to be read his Miranda rights and who hopefully will not lawyer up”.

“Barack Obama could not force himself to use the word “terrorism” in his speech last night and the FBI right now won’t call this a terrorist incident”.

“The reason we will be hit again is because our government is not committed to destroying our enemy. Radical Islam is our enemy”.

What is wrong with the Republican Party – ‘Senator Unhappy Reform Will Allow Immigrants To Improve Their Quality Of Life’

jeff sessions2

How dare they improve their lives!!

They will never be ‘REAL‘ Americans. They need to be kept in ‘their places!

‘A bipartisan group of senators — the so-called Gang of 8 — has yet to officially introduce its comprehensive bill to reform the immigration system, but Sen. Jeff Sessions (R-AL) is already complaining that the measure would allow immigrants to obtain higher-paying jobs and improve their standard of living’.

‘Speaking to reporters on Monday, Sessions warned that the nation’s undocumented immigrants would “be able to immediately apply for much better jobs than they currently have.” “Maybe they were working at a restaurant part time. Now they’re going to be truck drivers, heavy-equipment operators competing at the factories and plants and we’ve got an unemployment rate that’s very high,” he said’.

teabagger Alert!! – What is wrong with the Republican Party – ‘Tea Party Congressman Uses Boston Marathon Bombing To Justify Opposing Immigration Reform’

steve king

So his ‘logic’ is we need to stop immigration reform because we can’t do background checks on 11 to 20 million people.

Just ignoring the ‘fact’ that good old boy King has already solved the bombing in Boston (even though the investigators haven’t) and it’s a ‘foreign national’, isn’t part (a major part) of ‘security doing background checks?

‘If you’re looking for an example of a politician cloaking his cowardice in principle, look no further than Rep. Steve King (R-IA)’.

‘On Tuesday, less than 24 hours after the Boston Marathon bombing that left three dead and more than 150 injured, King gave an interview to National Review Online’.

“Some of the speculation that has come out is that yes, it was a foreign national and, speculating here, that it was potentially a person on a student visa,” King says. “If that’s the case, then we need to take a look at the big picture.”

“If we can’t background check people that are coming from Saudi Arabia, how do we think we are going to background check the 11 to 20 million people that are here from who knows where.”

Stories From The Fringe – ‘Beck: Muslims Responsible for Boston Bombing Because American Terrorists Always Target the Government’

dnews glenn beck

My anger is not at Glenn Beck. My shame are for the millions of Americans that listen to every word he spouts and blindly accept it as Conservative Gospel and are too lazy or stupid to think for themselves.
