Obama’s Legacy – ‘Why Obama Didn’t Retaliate for Russian Hack’

I love the guy….voted for him twice and just like with Bill Clinton, would vote for Obama again………….but someone needs to explain to him the power of the bully pulpit.

Just like he failed explaining Obamacare via the bully pulpit, he failed to explain Russian Hacking.

December 16, 2016 By Taegan Goddard

“The Obama administration didn’t respond more forcefully to Russian hacking before the presidential election because they didn’t want to appear to be interfering in the election and they thought that Hillary Clinton was going to win and a potential cyber war with Russia wasn’t worth it,” multiple high-level government officials told NBC News’.

‘Said one official: “They thought she was going to win, so they were willing to kick the can down the road.”

  1. And can you blame them? You were pretty sure she was going to win, too. 🙂

    • I was pretty certain. But then I didn’t have access to intelligence that showed the Russians were actually hacking.

      • They were hacking the DNC, but not the actual voting, if I understand correctly. And even with all the publicly released emails, which were the most damaging part of the hack, it still looked like she was winning.

      • What does that have to do with Obama having access to intelligence and not using the bully pulpit to warn us/condem Russia?

      • Because bully pulpit is overrated. Condemning Russia for their hacks was never going to deter them. Warning us about Russia would look like Obama is trying to help Clinton – all the while these leaked emails stay out there.
Unless Obama administration was actually willing to respond with some material action, I don’t his using the bully pulpit would have amounted to anything.

      • Well not using the bully pulpit resulted in a Trump election.
Using it would either produce the same result or a Clinton win.
I say an extremely popular President using the status of the Presidency, warning of Russian hacking would have swayed the rust belt and Florida enough to have a Clinton win.
It, the President speaking out, would have against Russia would have been the story not Comey’s first accusing and then absolving Clinton on the E mails.
