Pentagon buries evidence of $125 billion in bureaucratic waste

‘While many Democrats warned Republicans about including the Mattis provision in the spending bill, it’s not immediately clear if they will risk shutting down the government over it’.

‘Lawmakers are in a rush to get the continuing resolution passed by Friday and head home for the holidays’.

  • ‘Republicans tucked a measure intended to expedite the confirmation of Gen. James Mattis to be secretary of defense into a must-pass Congressional spending bill late Tuesday’.

‘The measure would essentially limit debate on a waiver that is needed in order for retired Gen. Mattis to serve as secretary of defense’.

‘The spending bill does not automatically approve that waiver, it only limits the amount of time senators have to debate it to 10 hours’ instead of 30 hours.

  1. The irony is those who may vote down the exception also note he is a fine candidate, perhaps Trump’s best selection. This quote above is evidence of this. I also heard two good stories about Mattis – one is when drove home after retiring, he made a point to visit a number of Gold Star families in route. Also, I heard that he took guard duty as base commander on Christmas Eve so a soldier could spend time with his wife and two kids. We may need to Mattis’ to counterbalance Flynn and others who are less stable leaders.

    • There is no way someone like Mattis will put up with the crap Flynn spews.
But who will Trump listen to?
      My fear not Mattis.

      • Agreed. He needs better and more respected voices than he has selected. He has picked a few, but too many are strident or well healed who don’t look like obvious champions of the common man that voted for him. Keith
