Saving America….Bigot Clerk Resigning – ‘Mississippi Clerk Resigns Over Supreme Court Ruling, Because The Gays’
‘A Mississippi clerk has served as an elected official for 24 years but she would rather resign than to marry same sex couples’.
‘The Daily News reports, “In a letter to the board of supervisors, Grenada County Circuit Clerk Linda Barnette announced her resignation on Tuesday, citing the Supreme Court’s decision to legalize same-sex marriage.”
“I choose to obey God rather than man,” Barnette wrote in the resignation letter, attributing her decision to Friday’s Supreme Court decision to allow same sex couples to marry nationwide’.
‘A few county clerks in that state have raised objections, too’.
“The Supreme Court’s decision violates my core values as a Christian,” Barnette wrote to the county’s Board of Supervisors.
“My final authority is the Bible. I cannot in all good conscience issue marriage licenses to same-sex couples under my name because the Bible clearly teaches that homosexuality is contrary to God’s plan and purpose for marriage and family.”
‘The Daily News reports’:
- ‘The Clarion-Ledger spoke to a voter who questioned why she would isolate gay and lesbian people seeking to marry, but not others’.

“She’s given marriage licenses to people who have committed adultery and stolen and lied, and when their parents haven’t approved,” Grenada County resident Lue Harbin told the Ledger, speaking of Barnette’.
“It’s just crazy the way she’s thinking. That’s her job, and she’s not there to judge people.”
‘Grenada County quickly found a replacement for Barnette. Michele Redditt is the new circuit clerk and her office is already issuing licenses, according to the ACLU of Mississippi’.
