There is a difference between disrespecting and questioning policy.
With W, we were lied to re: economic and foreign policy.
When someone, even a President lies to you and then won’t answer questions with the truth (even now), that earned (and earns) him no respect.
With Obama, the majority of the disrespect came even before he was shown in.
Not a ‘real’ American.
The Great Recession was his fault.
The unemployment was his fault.
Health care is socialism.
He, Obama could have done more but was stopped over and over by a political party afraid of it’s far right wing. So the party did all they could to make Obama look bad (and America suffer) just so they could score political points.

There was a time not so long ago when Americans, regardless of their political stripes, rallied round their president. Once elected, the man who won the White House was no longer viewed as a republican or democrat, but the President of the United States. The oath of office was taken, the wagons were circled around the country’s borders and it was America versus the rest of the world with the president of all the people at the helm.
