Republicans and ‘Entitlements’ ….Trust Us – ‘Senate GOP budget to break with Paul Ryan’s blueprints’

republican budget entitlement1

Senate Republicans will not include detailed plans to overhaul entitlement programs when they unveil their first budget in nearly a decade this week, according to GOP sources’.

The good news…….

  • ‘The Senate GOP blueprint will not propose reforming Social Security’.

And the bad news…….

  • The GOP budget would balance in 10 years, but it will only propose savings to be achieved in Medicare and Medicaid, without spelling out specific reforms’.

See we’re saving this much money but we can’t tell you how.

“From the standpoint of a budget, the less words of the English language you use, the better off you are,” said Sen. Chuck Grassley (R-Iowa), a senior member of the Budget panel’.

When it comes to saving money in Medicare and Medicaid, Grassley said it’s preferable to “just have figures in there” instead of spelling out specific reforms, as Ryan did’.

‘Ryan’s plan curbed Medicare costs by giving future beneficiaries below the age of 55 a subsidy that could be used toward private insurance premiums’.

‘His plan raised the eligibility age for Medicare by two months per year starting in 2022′.

Ryan also proposed replacing Medicaid with a block grant program whereby states would received a fixed sum indexed to inflation and population growth to pay for the healthcare needs of lower-income residents’.

‘The Center on Budget and Policy Priorities, a liberal-leaning think tank, estimated last year that Ryan’s proposals would cut Medicaid and the Children’s Health Insurance Program by 26 percent by 2024′.

  2. You know the formula. They will ask for decrease in taxes for corporations, increase in defense spending and cuts to entitlements such as social security and Medicare. Then they give speeches as to how the rich are getting richer , the middle class are losing ground and the poorer are getting poorer.

To insure the passage of their goals, they institute rules to keep those who would vote counter to their interests, from ever making it to the ballet box. They fight with lots of monies to whittle down the ability of colleges and universities to even consider race in the admittance process, so that the numbers of minorities gaining admittance has been drastically reduced in the past few years..

They would not consider investing on our deteriorating infrastructure which would boost the number of jobs; investing in smart young people with increase in Pell grants to bring deserving, poor students into the middle class; investing in quality free preschool availability for those in impoverished areas which many studies prove pays dividends well into a child’s life.

In short, you get what you vote for!!! In 2016, anyone who can and doesn’t vote deserves all of the above.
