“All it takes is one good guy with a gun…..” – ‘Man practicing open carry law robbed of gun’

gun nuts3

And here I thought that these ‘open carry’ nuts were showing they could ‘protect’ us from the bad guys.

GRESHAM, Ore. (KOIN 6) — ‘A man practicing his open carry right was robbed of the gun he was openly carrying’.

‘William Coleman III was robbed of his Walter- brand P22 just after 2:00 a.m. October 4 in Gresham by a young man who asked him for it — and flashed his own weapon as persuasion’.

‘Coleman, 21, was talking to his cousin in the 17200 block of NE Glisan St., after purchasing the handgun earlier that day, when a young man asked him for a cigarette, police said’.

‘The man then asked about the gun, pulled a gun from his own waistband and said “”I like your gun. Give it to me.”

‘Coleman handed over the gun and the man fled on foot’.

2014 – ‘Unmarried Women Overwhelmingly Favor Democrats in Senate Battleground Races, New Poll Finds’

war on women12

‘Republican candidates have a slight edge over Democrats in the 12 battleground states, with all likely 2014 voters. But when unmarried women are polled, the odds flip. Unmarried women favor Democrats in the battlegrounds by 58 to 36, up from 50 to 39 in July’.

‘All likely voters care deeply about creating jobs and improving wages, the poll shows. But unmarried women and members of the Rising American Electorate (unmarried women, people of color and voters ages 18-29) also respond strongly to policies that help women and men and the working middle class’.

‘The big story, the poll finds, is that the Democratic campaigns have succeeded in making the candidates’ positions on women’s issues become the second biggest reason voters are planning to vote for Democrats – after the economy’.

‘At the same time, minority voters’ support for the Affordable Care Act has risen dramatically – and for them, the health care law has become the single biggest factor in their vote after jobs’.

If You Don’t Vote – Why It IS The ‘Stupid Party’ – ‘During Clay Aiken debate, GOP rep. claims US was ‘founded on’ man-woman marriage’

‘Rpublican Rep. Renee Ellmers (R-NC) on Monday said that she opposed marriage rights for LGBT people because the country was “founded on” marriage between a man and a woman’.

‘During a debate with Clay Aiken, the Democratic nominee for North Carolina’s 2nd District, WRAL’s David Crabtree pointed out that the Supreme Court had refused to hear a challenge to rulings that legalized same-sex marriage in five states. The decision also put six other states — including North Carolina — one step closer to having marriage equality’.

“I don’t have a crystal ball,” she said. “I’ve been very strong on this issue, and there again, a state’s issue. One that the federal government — although I do support defense of marriage between one man and one woman. I believe that’s what our country is founded on.”

If You Don’t Vote – ‘Huge Increase In Voter Registrations In Ferguson Apparently Never Happened’

‘Last week, numerous news outlets, national and local, reported on a huge increase in registered voters in Ferguson, Mo., following the Aug. 9 shooting of Michael Brown. But it apparently didn’t actually happen’.

‘But apparently that first report was in error. There was no voter registration spike. The county elections board reversed course on Tuesday and said that, actually, only 128 people had registered to vote since the shooting’.

‘St. Louis County director of elections Rita Heard Days told TPM in a phone interview Tuesday that the county had mistakenly used a report that records all changes to a voter’s registration information — new address, change in marital status, etc. — to get the initial 3,287 number’.

‘Somebody within the office pointed out the issue after the huge spike was reported, and the board worked with the secretary of state’s office to get the actual :  128 new registrants’.
