‘Pew: More Americans want US to stay out of foreign troubles, mind its own business’(1)
‘POLITICO poll: Stay out of Ukraine, Middle East‘(2)
Sen. John McCain (R-AZ), known for his aggressive foreign policy views, slammed President Obama’s approach to the Islamic state militants in Iraq’.
“There’s a vacuum of American leadership all throughout the Middle East,” he said’.
“I predicted what was going to happen in Iraq,” he said. “And I’m predicting to you now, that if we pull everybody out of Afghanistan, not based on conditions, you’ll see that same movie again in Afghanistan.”

‘The latest example is a new ad from Crossroads GPS, in which a Colorado woman named Richelle McKim laments that Senator “Mark Udall’s vote for Obamacare has hurt families in Colorado.”
‘McKim recounts her husband’s decision to start a new business, saying’ :
“We knew we needed to find health care. Because we were a single-income family, we couldn’t afford our plan.”
‘Text then flashes across the screen, letting viewers know that “Richelle had to go back to work.”
‘It seems like a perfect case to make to the suburban women who are likely to decide Senator Udall’s tight re-election battle against Republican congressman Cory Gardner’.
‘As Denver television station KDVR reports, McKim has worked constantly over the past six years’;
‘From July 2008 through May 2010, she worked from home as the office manager for her husband’s company (Remember Obama was elected in 2008 but Obamacare wasn’t law until March 2010 – which, evidently, wasn’t founded as a response to Obamacare)’.
‘Since then, she has worked for Anadarko Petroleum and Noble Energy — which have donated $57,550 and $36,000 to Udall’a challengrer Republican Cory Gardner’s campaign, respectively’.
If these two people can fork over $93,550 to a political campaign – why are they complaining that they can’t afford health care????
‘By McKim’s own admission, Obamacare didn’t actually drive her back into the workforce, as the ad claims’.
“It wasn’t the Affordable Care Act,” she told KDVR. “It was just a financial burden, having a single income for so long.”
‘And, for good measure, McKim’s husband used to forgo health insurance because he suffers from high blood pressure — a pre-existing condition that made his insurance more expensive until the ACA became law’.
‘This is far from the first time that Obamacare opponents have been forced to stretch the truth, flatly lie, or just give up and use paid actors to tell a scare story’.
‘Indeed, it begs the question’:
‘If the Affordable Care Act is really such a disastrous boondoggle ‘ :
‘Why couldn’t Crossroads…..’
‘Or the Koch brothers-backed Americans for Prosperity…..’
‘Or even House Republican Conference chair Cathy McMorris Rodgers….’

‘Irony challenged Sen. Ted Cruz (TX) told President Obama to stop golfing and do his job while he, Ted Cruz was enjoying his roughly 108th day of vacation this year at the Iowa State Fair………..’
‘Leading anti-immigrant groups such as Numbers USA, FAIR, and the Center for Immigration Studies have cited the activism of Zack Taylor as proof that border patrol agents are strongly opposed to immigration reform’.
‘Taylor, who runs the National Association of Former Border Patrol Officers, regularly appears on right-wing radio shows to spout anti-reform arguments and yesterday stopped by VCY America’s “Crosstalk,” where he revealed himself to be a far-right conspiracy theorist’.
‘After one caller said President Obama is “planning on having major crises in this country” such as “pandemics and possible nuclear strikes,” Taylor floated fears about FEMA internment camps and coffins based on articles he read on the always-reliable internet’:
“This is just stuff that’s been for years showing up on the internet about him trying to find large detention space that is available, about having — it’s not body bags — temporary or makeshift coffins to handle 200 million deaths”.
“Two million is significant, but 200 million is catastrophic”.
“These are all rumors that are persistent rumors and getting a straight answer out of this government is nearly impossible, it’s almost like you’re better off believing the opposite of what they tell you”.
Oh and Taylor said United Nations planes are landing at a U.S. base in Arizona ‘:
‘For whatever reason, in one of her first videos Palin decided to
swing for the fences and take on liberal lightning rod Sen.
Elizabeth Warren’.
‘Palin seems incensed that Warren would be advocating for a
minimum wage increase. After showing a clip where Warren is seen
giving an impassioned speech about standing with fast food
workers as they strike for better wages, Palin gives her take
(spoilers, it’s absolutely bonkers)’:
“We believe”? Wait, I thought fast food joints, hurh. Don’t you
guys think that they’re like of the Devil or somethin’ I was.
Liberals, you want to send those evil employees who would dare
work at a fast food joint then ya just don’t believe in, thought
you wanted to, I dunno, send them to Purgatory or somethin’ so
they all go VEGAN and, uh, wages and picket lines I dunno they’re
not often discussed in Purgatory, are they? I dunno why are you
even worried about fast food wages because dha.”
THIS is why humans, anyone with a heart, IS worried about minimum wage jobs :

torturous word salad. You are a braver bunch than I.)’

‘For many kids, summer means joining (or being forced to join) some kind of summer camp’.
‘While some kids get to camp out in the woods and others go to space camp, a few unfortunate elementary school kids in the Philippines are signed up for McDonald’s “Kiddie Crew Workshop,” a place where they learn to… well, be a McDonald’s employee basically’.
‘They even get to work a shift there – for free’!
‘Adorned with hat, shirt, and badge shilling for McDonald’s, kids ages 6-12 get to learn about the fascinating world of McDonald’s store operations’.
‘No lesson in McDonald’s culture would be complete without a firm grasp of the business side of things’.
‘With that in mind, kids (again, aged 6-12) get a crash course in what it takes to be a crew member at the fast food restaurant’.
“During each workshop day, Kiddie Crew members will get to experience on-floor training like greeting customers and assisting the crew at the drive-thru and front counters; showcase their skills through creative art workshops; and learn the importance of hard work, discipline and teamwork, through values formation lessons.“
‘Something about the phrase “through values formation lessons” sounds vaguely Orwellian. Why is McDonald’s concerned with teaching children values? Which values’?
‘From McDonald’s Kiddie Crew 2013 promotional video, it seems the kids mostly just work – albeit in a limited capacity’.
‘The summer camp program is a week long but don’t expect McDonald’s to feel very thankful for the free child labor’.
‘According to their Kids Crew website, the payment for a week of working the drive-thru and front counter is a free desert with purchase of a meal, an extra toy with a happy meal, and a free McSpaghetti meal on the child’s birthday’.
‘How generous.’
