A Republican World – ‘GOP Says Rich Kids Are More Valuable Than Poor Kids’

Now this legislation won’t pass in the Senate but imagine – a political party that wants to take tax credits from the poor and give them to the rich – Romneyhood!

‘The GOP actually believes that the upper-middle class kids should get a bigger child tax credit than kids whose parents make far less’.

‘The ways it works is the government would take $1,725 away from a single mother (of color or white) with two kids making $14,500 and in effect give it to a married couple with two kids making $160,000, according to the Center on Budget and Policy Priorities (CBPP). This would be crazy if it wasn’t the GOP’.

‘And what Republicans fail to highlight is that the law would cost $115 billion over a decade’.

‘The House manipulated a piece of legislation into a pretzel and passed a child tax credit bill to expand the federal child tax credit for upper-middle class families’.

‘It blows the eligibility cap off of the federal child tax credit for married couples raising it from $110,000 to $160,000’.

‘The tax credit removes the marriage penalty and indexes at the rate of $1,000 per child credit adjusted to inflation’.

‘Oh and of course they just decided to omit any mention of renewing an expiring tax credit for “millions of low-income families ending in 2017.”
