  1. I think that rotating thing might be a part of Magdeburg Water Bridge – it’s canal that goes over land like an elevated highway.

    • Thanks for the lead. I went to Google Maps and the waterway looks similar but no humungus rotating thing. Whatever it is, vehicles move onto it and then rotate to move up to the higher level.
      Weird. An engineering feat and I’ll bet big bucks to build.

      • Actually, I found out what it is: it’s called Falkirk Wheel, and it’s lifting not cars, but boats. And that whole thing only uses 30 horsepower engine.

        purpose and weel who can’t love a giant thing that eats boats and lifts them up
