‘Most Democrats Want Clinton to Run in 2016’ – ‘Krystal Ball Urges Hillary Clinton Not To Run in 2016’

krystal ball

hillary 2016Krystal asks “Does Hillary Clinton sound to you like the right person for this moment?”

Apparently we do Krystal.

Does the phrase ‘out of touch’ ring a bell Krystal?

‘More than 8 in 10 Democrats say they want Hillary Rodham Clinton to run for president in 2016, showing a level of interest in her that no other potential candidates – Democrat or Republican – come close to matching among their party’s voters, according to a New York Times/CBS News Poll’.

But it’s NOT Republican Obstructionism – ‘Rand Paul Blocks Surgeon General Nominee For Saying Gun Violence Is A Public Health Threat’

rand paul4

Why not just allow an up or down vote?

Question him fine.

But why impose YOUR values on the entire Senate?

Why block every American that voted for their US Senator to sit by useless as only those in Kentucky that voted for you are allowed a say in who the next US Surgeon General is?

‘On Wednesday — two years to the day after George Zimmerman shot and killed Trayvon Martin — Sen. Rand Paul (R-KY) placed a hold on President Barack Obama’s nominee for Surgeon General, Dr. Vivek Murthy, over Murthy’s view that gun violence represents a significant public health threat’.

“In his efforts to curtail Second Amendment rights, Dr. Murthy has continually referred to guns as a public health issue on par with heart disease and has diminished the role of mental health in gun violence,” wrote Paul in a letter to Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid’.

  • ‘As it turns out, previous Republican Surgeon General appointees also supported the notion that gun violence is a pressing public health issue’.

‘C. Everett Koop, a former pediatric surgeon and Surgeon General under President Ronald Reagan, wrote an editorial in the Journal of the American Medical Association in 1992 entitled “Time to Bite the Bullet Back.” The essay argued that gun violence is, in fact, a public health problem and should be addressed along those lines’.

  • ‘ According to the Centers for Disease Control, homicide and suicide are two of the top three leading causes of death among 15 to 24 year-olds, and the vast majority of those these deaths are facilitated by firearms’.
  • ‘More than 68 percent of all homicides in America are gun-related, and more Americans kill themselves with guns than every other method combined’.
  • ‘Gun violence is set to surpass car accidents as the number one killer of young people by 2015 if current trends hold’.

‘But Paul is actually out of step with most physicians..

‘Although Paul criticizes Murthy’s position that physicians and pediatricians should ask patients about the presence of guns in their households, the’

  • ‘American Medical Association (AMA) adopted a resolution in 2011 officially opposing any law that bars doctors from having open conversations about gun safety and the risks of having firearms in a household with their patients’.
  • ‘In fact, just yesterday, the American Academy of Pediatrics (AAP) issued new guidelines recommending that households with children who are diagnosed with depression should remove guns and ammunition from their homes entirely’.
  • ‘The AAP has long taken a firm stance on the danger that gun violence poses for children. “This should not be a political issue. Gun violence is a public health issue that profoundly affects children and their families,” said AAP president Dr. Thomas K. McInerny in a letter to Congress’.

A Republican World – The “Republicans Love The Constitution But We Need To Change It To Take Away Some Of Those ‘Rights’ Edition – ‘Michigan Legislature Wants to Pass Bill To Fine Citizens Up To $1k Per Day For Picketing’

michigan picketing

The Frist Amendment to the US Constitution : “Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof; or abridging the freedom of speech, or of the press; or the right of the people peaceably to assemble, and to petition the Government for a redress of grievances”.
@ :

  • ‘This week the Michigan House of Representatives took up a bill that will require judges to impose a fine of up to $1,000 a day for picketing workers’.
  • ‘An additional fine of up to $10,000 a day is also to be levied against any labor organization found to be leading or organizing a strike’.

‘This week, the Michigan House of Representatives took up HB 4643, legislation which was introduced by Republican Tom McMillin, that imposes massive fines against citizens who exercise their basic first amendment rights’.

‘Michigan’s extreme right wing Governor, Rick Snyder, along with the state’s predominately GOP/tea party legislature, have passed some of the most controversial laws in the country’.

‘From the state’s insane Emergency Manager law, which grants the governor power to remove any elected official and replace that official with a hand picked lackey of the governor himself, to the much hated Right To Work legislation that was passed by the legislature only after the voters were locked out of the capital, to the state’s extreme anti-abortion legislation and it’s widely condemned ‘rape insurance‘ bill’.

‘The fanatical right wing politicians that have seized hold of Michigan have made it all too clear that what the voters want is of no consequence to them’.

‘Here’s a video from the House Floor. Representative Jim Towsend (D) introduced three amendments to the proposed house bill, in order to protect citizen’s constitutionally guaranteed right to peaceful assembly. At the end of the video the Speaker of the House can be heard to say “Amendments not adopted.”

Turn Kentucky Blue – ‘What Mitch McConnell and a twice-heated biscuit have in common’

turn kentucky blue

Good interview with her.

Grimes : “And I think what people – not just Kentucky, but the nation – are seeing is that Mitch McConnell, kind of like heating a biscuit twice, never tastes good the second time, no matter how much jam or jelly you put on it. That’s my grandmother’s saying, by the way”.

A Republican World – ‘Tucker Carlson: It’s ‘called fascism’ when laws give LGBT people equal treatment’

tucker carlson

‘Fox News host Tucker Carlson on Wednesday said that the people criticizing an Arizona bill which would allow discrimination against LGBT people had gone too far, and that “fascism” was the only explanation for forcing businesses to treat everyone equally’.

“I mean, if you want to have a gay wedding, fine, go ahead,” Carlson told Fox News host Martha MacCallum. “If I don’t want to bake you a cake for your gay wedding, that’s okay too… That’s called tolerance.”

  • “But when you try and force me to bake a cake for your gay wedding and threaten me with prison if I don’t, that’s called fascism.”

‘Fox News contributor Alan Colmes, however, observed that the Civil Rights Act of 1964 made it illegal for places of public accommodation not to serve minorities’.

“If you’re open for business, you can’t deny people based on their color, based on their sexual orientation,” MacCallum pointed out to Carlson. “So, how do you defend the baker who says, I’m not going to make your cake. They walk in, you’re open for business to the public. I mean, why would you deny someone the cake?”

“Clearly we’re in a moment of national hysteria here, where people who disagree get crushed,” Carlson opined. “Who are these people who are pushing for the imprisonment of someone who just doesn’t feel comfortable baking a cake for gay wedding. This is insane. Let’s just be honest about it.”

“What if I’m a business owner and I say I don’t want to make a cake for a black wedding?” Colmes wondered’.

“Everybody is always invoking that,” Carlson complained. “It’s ludicrous. There is, what, 3,000 years of opposition to gay marriage. This is not my view, but I think it’s important to acknowledged that you can oppose gay marriage and not be a Klansman.”

“Either you’re open for business or you’re not open for business,” MacCallum argued. “But you can’t pick and choose based on, you know, different criteria, anymore than a Muslim bakery can say, you can’t come in here unless you have your head covered if you’re a woman to shop here. You can’t do that.”

One Man’s Trash….. – ‘Paula Deen: I’m like ‘that black football player who recently came out’

paula deen

‘Former Food Network star Paula Deen compared herself to gay pro football prospect Michael Sam in an interview with People Magazine, the E! Network reported on Wednesday’.

  • “I feel like ‘embattled’ or ‘disgraced’ will always follow my name,” Deen reportedly told People’.

“It’s like that black football player who recently came out. He said, ‘I just want to be known as a football player. I don’t want to be known as a gay football player.’ I know exactly what he’s saying.”

Blinded By Science – ‘Kepler’s bonanza: Space telescope discovers 715 new planets’

CAPE CANAVERAL, Florida (Reuters) – ‘Scientists added a record 715 more planets to the list of known worlds beyond the solar system, boosting the overall tally to nearly 1,700, astronomers said on Wednesday’.

  • ‘The additions include four planets about 2-1/2 times as big as Earth that are the right distance from their parent stars for liquid surface water, which is believed to be key for life’.

‘The discoveries were made with the National Aeronautics and Space Administration’s planet-hunting Kepler space telescope before it was sidelined by a pointing system problem last year. The telescope, launched in 2009, spent four productive years staring at 160,000 target stars for signs of planets passing by, relative to the telescope’s line of sight’.

‘The tally of planets announced at a NASA press conference on Wednesday boosted Kepler’s confirmed planet count from 246 to 961’.

  • ‘Combined with other telescopes’ results, the headcount of planets beyond the solar system, or exoplanets, now numbers nearly 1,700’.

“We almost doubled, just today, the number of planets known to humanity,” astronomer Douglas Hudgins, head of exoplanet exploration at NASA Headquarters in Washington, told reporters on a conference call’.
