‘Welfare State’ – The ‘Is It Republican Stupidity Or Republican Hypocrisy’ Edition

I built that

I’ve always maintained that if you want to really start balancing a budgets, you take the ‘welfare’ portions of our Country, the vast majority of them being Conservative, Republicans strongholds, and either have them cut spending (making them worse then most 3rd World Countries) or force them to raise their taxes so they can’t depend on the usually ‘blue’ Liberal, Democratic portions of the States or Country to support them.

Because right now, the vast majority of ‘rugged individuals, ‘real’ Americans’ live in welfare States or, like Eastern Washington, welfare portions of a ‘blue State.

But what do I know.

I’m just a Liberal.

I live is a ‘blue’ State, Washington, but in the very ‘red’ half, Eastern Washington specifically Spokane.

So phrases like :

‘The Democrats out of control spending’

‘Balanced budget’

‘Living beyond our means’

‘We need to be makers, not takers’

Are common for me to hear.

Just ask any teabagger………

That’s why I have absolutely no respect for them.
They have created in their little minds, a false ‘reality’.

The above map is the clearest example of that.

The map shows that all of Eastern Washington and yes Spokane County are ‘socialists’, ‘living beyond our means’, ‘takers not makers’.

It especially shows that it’s the Republican dominated governments that have the ‘out of control spending’ problem.

Yet it’s the Republicans that are always telling us ‘We need to cut spending” – apparently just not for them.

Or hypocrisy?

Look at all the ‘red’ that depends on the ‘blue’ for funding.

Now a good portion of all the extra money that the ‘red’ Counties get is from the transportation portion of our State’s budget for roads, construction and maintainance.

Which raises another false Republican, teabagger reality – “I built That”!!

Now you go to Okanogan, Douglas, Adams, Lincoln, Stevens or especially Ferry COunty’s and take away the publicly funded roads and then tell me what you built.

Not much.

In fact nothing.

A Republican World – ‘Missouri GOP Still Wants Kids To Be Stupid, Introduces Anti-Science Bill’

evolution is bad

Trotting out the ‘Teaching evolution is infringing on my religious beliefs’ crap.

‘Republicans refuse to take no for an answer. Time and time again, anti-science bills aimed at killing biology in schools have failed. But Christian conservatives are trying again anyway with a new bill’.

‘Missouri Republicans introduced a bill to let parents keep their kids from learning scientific facts’.

‘Missouri Republicans led by state rep. Rick Brattin have introduced House Bill 1472 in an attempt to keep kids ignorant about the science of evolution’.

‘The Kansas City Star reports that the bill would force schools to notify parents before teaching any lessons that involve evolution’.

‘Parents can then opt to pull their kids from the class so that they don’t learn the scientifically proven biological process’.

‘In short, Missouri’s GOP wants to give parents the ability to make their kids stupid’.

‘Brattin claims that teaching such materials is “an absolute infringement on people’s beliefs.” He then goes on to say that because religion is a crock, evolution shouldn’t be taught’.

“Even though what’s being taught is just as much faith and, you know, just as much pulled out of the air as, say, any religion,” Brattin said’.

A Republican World – The ‘We Need To Teach Creationism Instead Of Evolution’ Edition – ‘1 in 4 Americans doesn’t know Earth circles sun’

stupid americans1

It’s perfectable to facepalm.

  • ‘To put the brightest possible spin on this story is to say that three-quarters of Americans are fully aware that the Earth revolves around the sun’.

‘The downside, of course, is that means 1 in 4 are in the dark about what Discovery calls “probably the most basic question in science.”

‘The National Science Foundation asked that question and nine others of 2,200 Americans, with the average score on the quiz coming in at 6.5, reports’.

‘Some other results noted by NPR’:

• ‘39% answered correctly that “the universe began with a huge explosion”

• ‘Fewer than half — 48% — agreed that “human beings, as we know them today, developed from earlier species of animals”

• ‘51% knew that antibiotics don’t kill viruses’

A Republican World – The ‘Listen To What I Say Not What I Did’ Edition – ‘Congressman Slams Obama For Medicare Cuts That He Voted For Three Times’

tom rtooney

‘Even though these cuts are to provider payments, and not to benefits, Republicans have repeatedly slammed them as Obama’s “Medicare cuts” for seniors — a line that was used on multiple occasions by Mitt Romney and House Budget Committee Chairman Rep. Paul Ryan (R-WI) during the 2012 presidential campaign’.

‘But Ryan has included these very “Medicare cuts” in every GOP budget he’s proposed since the ACA’s passage in 2010. And Rooney, alongside 95 percent of House and Senate Republicans, voted for Ryan’s budgets with their “Medicare cuts” and all in 2011, 2012, and 2013’.

‘Rep. Tom Rooney (R-FL) slammed President Barack Obama’s signature health care law during the weekly GOP address on Saturday, arguing that the Affordable Care Act hurts seniors’.

“Here’s the reality — to help pay for his health care law, the president made deep cuts to the successful Medicare Advantage plan, which serves almost 30 percent of all Medicare beneficiaries,” said Rooney, adding that the cuts are causing seniors to lose access to care’.

‘There’s just one problem: Rooney voted for those same cuts on three separate occasions’.
