Why America Is Failing – From the Military-Industrial Complex to the new Corporate-Political Complex -The ‘Medium IS the Message’ Edition ‘Don’t be surprised if your TV soon seems to know everything about your politics’

political tv programming

political tv programming1

Americans for the most part are extremely ill informed at best and just plain stupid at worst when it comes to politics.

See FOX (cough) news.

This just makes what is already bad….worse.
‘Dish Network and DirecTV on Monday announced a plan to jointly give political advertisers the ability to microtarget their ads down to the household level. That means that any of over 20 million homes in the United States will soon start getting highly personalized campaign spots that were meant just for them’.

‘Here’s how it works’:

  • ‘While your set-top box is idle, it’ll tune into a channel that’s playing the ad you’re meant to see’
  • “It’ll record the ad using DVR, then inset it into your regular programming while you’re watching a show – replacing or bumping the ad that was suppose to air instead.
  • ‘This can be replicated for any household that subscribes to Dish or DirecTV, so a political strategist can pick you out and feed you a unique message’.

‘Some TV targeting is possible already’.

‘Individually, Dish and DirecTV have offered “addressable advertising” on their own networks for about two years. But, says Carol Davidsen, a former media targeting director for President Obama’s 2012 campaign, it’s never been available at this scale’.

  • ‘That’s why political operatives find this exciting: It gives them access to a far larger pool of potential test subjects for their material’.

But it’s NOT a Republican War On Women – ‘House Republicans Pass National Anti-Abortion Bill That Obama Has Already Promised To Veto’

hr7 eric cantor

The Republican House of Representatives…..Doing The ‘People’s Work’.

A very small group of people while the rest of the Nation waits……

‘On Tuesday, the House of Representatives officially approved HR 7, or the “No Taxpayer Funding for Abortion Act.”

‘The measure, which would dramatically restrict insurance coverage for abortion services, is essentially dead-on-arrival in the Democratic-controlled Senate. President Obama has already announced his intention to veto the bill if it ever makes it to his desk’.

‘Nonetheless, abortion opponents in the House were committed to fast-tracking the legislation in the very first weeks of the 2014 session’.

‘At last week’s March for Life, the annual anti-abortion protest on the anniversary of Roe v. Wade, House Majority Leader Eric Cantor (R-VA) told the crowd that he is committed to HR 7 even though it faces an uphill battle in the Senate’.

“The people’s House will stand for life. We will do everything in our power to make sure that our values and the sanctity of life are reflected in the law of the land,” Cantor said’.

‘Cantor’s Democratic colleagues, meanwhile, have been critical of the House leadership’s dogged pursuit of abortion restrictions at the expense of other legislative priorities’.

“Poll after poll shows that Americans want Congress to work on creating jobs, yet Republicans in Washington insist on wasting more time, energy, and taxpayer dollars on attacking women’s health,” Rep. Louise Slaughter (D-NY), the co-chair of the House’s Pro-Choice Caucus, said in a statement released before Tuesday’s vote’.

“Those who are promoting this…know it will not become law. It’s a messaging bill,” Rep. Dan Kildee (D-MI) said on the House floor on Tuesday afternoon. “While we’re debating that, the House is not taking up unemployment insurance extension, which is not a messaging bill — it’s heat in the home, it’s keeping the lights on, it’s paying the mortgage, it’s putting food on the table for the children of the people in those homes.”

But it’s NOT A Republican War On Women – ‘Louisiana Quietly Attempts To Regulate Abortion Clinics Out Of Existence’

back alley aboutions

back alley abortuions

Republicans want to ’empower’ women.

By making fewer choices available, it will be ‘less confusing’ to women.

And bringing back ‘back alley abortions’because that was such a better time in America.

Now THAT gives women ‘power’ doesn’t it.

‘The Louisiana Department of Health and Hospitals (DHH) is currently in process of finalizing new regulations on abortion clinics. The complicated rules, which are more than 20 pages long, could end up closing all five of Louisiana’s abortion clinics — effectively banning the procedure in the state’.

‘DHH first enacted the rules at the end of November, and has scheduled a public hearing for the beginning of February to finalize them. State officials, who likely intended to slip the new regulations under the radar, have already attempted to diffuse media attention’.

‘After media outlets began reporting on one provision in the new regulations that would require a 30-day waiting period before women could proceed with an abortion, DHH officials said they would rescind that particular rule’.

Stories From The teabagger Fringe Freaks – The teabagger vision for America Edition – ‘”1.8 Million Definite Militia Members” to March on DC, Install New Government’

american dream

‘Harry Riley has a dream’.

‘On the morning of May 16, somewhere between 10 and 30 million (estimates vary) God-fearing patriots will assemble in Washington, DC, for what Riley, a retired Army colonel from the Florida panhandle, is calling “Operation American Spring.”

(Blogger’s Note : This is my reaction to ’10 to 30 million God fearing patriots showing up’ :

‘They’ll protest outside the White House by day and set up in campgrounds and RV parks outside the city by night’.

‘They won’t leave until President Barack Obama, along with Attorney General Eric Holder and congressional leaders of both parties, resign and appear before a specially convened investigative tribunal for further disciplinary action—a polite version of a tea party coup’.

‘It’s not likely to happen—but two former Fox News personalities have endorsed the endeavor’.

“We have 1.8 million definite militia members coming,” promises Operation American Spring spokeswoman Karen Smith. (The Anti-Defamation League pegs the number of American militia members at about 20,000.) “Other than that, we’re not keeping a list of concerned people or whatever because how are we gonna do that?”

‘According to Riley’s introductory note, which he posted on Facebook, about 1 million activists will stick around DC after the march in a nonviolent attempt to shut the city down’.

‘According to the the document, the real work will occur after the transfer of power’:

“Those with the principles of a West, Cruz, Lee, DeMint, Paul, Gov Walker, Sessions, Gowdy, Jordan, Issa, will comprise a tribunal and assume positions of authority to convene investigations, recommend appropriate charges against politicians and government employees to the new U.S. Attorney General appointed by the new President.”

A Republican vision for America – The ‘(cough) ‘Free Press’ Edition – ‘Rep. Grimm Threatens NY1 Reporter Following State of the Union’

Transparency is just for Democrats. Republicans demand respect.

His ‘apology’ first :

‘Grimm’s office immediately released a statement, but it was hardly an apology’.

“I was extremely annoyed because I was doing NY1 a favor by rushing to do their interview first in lieu of several other requests. The reporter knew that I was in a hurry and was only there to comment on the State of the Union, but insisted on taking a disrespectful and cheap shot at the end of the interview, because I did not have time to speak off-topic,” Grimm said in his release’.

@ :

‘Staten Island Rep. Michael Grimm physically threatened NY1 political reporter Michael Scotto at the conclusion of an interview in the Capitol Rotunda following Tuesday night’s State of the Union address’.

‘Grimm’s threats came at the end of a brief interview in which he discussed the president’s speech, calling the address “divisive.”

‘Scotto then tried to ask the congressman about the ongoing federal investigation into his 2010 campaign fundraising’:

“And just finally before we let you go, we haven’t had a chance to talk about some of the…” Scotto began before Grimm cut him off’.

“I’m not speaking to you off-topic, this is only about the president,” said Grimm, before walking off camera’.

“So Congressman Michael Grimm does not want to talk about some of the allegations concerning his campaign finances,” Scotto said before tossing back to the station. But as the camera continued to roll, Grimm walked back up to Scotto and began speaking to him in a low voice’.

“What?” Scotto responded. “I just wanted to ask you…”

‘Grimm: “Let me be clear to you, you ever do that to me again I’ll throw you off this f—–g balcony.”
