The Day in a Picture – If There’s NOT a Republican War On Women – Then There Sure IS A Lot Of Stupidity And Hate From Republicans

The Republican Lies – ‘Right-Wing Media: Low-Income Americans Are Inheriting Too Much, Working Too Little’

‘The January 22 edition of Fox News’ Fox & Friends hosted Williamson to discuss his theory, and co-host Elisabeth Hasselbeck introduced his segment by saying, “It’s easy to assume that the rich inherit their money without earning it”.

“But in reality, under 15 percent of top income earners inherit their wealth, while more than 40 percent of lower income earners inherit theirs.”

‘Fellow co-host Brian Kilmeade added, “So how does the rich really make their money? … By hard work! That’s the conclusion. Wealthy households tend to have four times the amount of full-time workers than poorer households.”

‘BLS did indeed find that among the households in the highest income brackets, transfers accounted for only 12.6 percent of net worth’.

  • ‘What Fox and the like omit is the fact that the average value of wealth transfers received by the top 1 percent of U.S. households was a whopping $1,045,200 in 2007′.
  • ‘That’s twenty-five times the average value of inheritances for households in the lowest income bracket, whose average inheritance was $42,000 the same year’.

‘For lower-income earners, 42 grand is a large chunk of their total wealth’.

‘But the average wealth of households in the top 1 percent is around $16,439,400 — so a million dollar inheritance is not as impactful’.

‘More importantly, the claim that lower-income Americans receive 40 percent of their wealth through inheritance applies only to Americans receiving an inheritance’.

‘As the BLS study noted — but Hasselbeck and company did not — the wealthiest Americans are far, far more likely to receive an inheritance of some kind than people in the lowest wealth brackets’ :

  • “On average over the seven years, 38 percent of households in the highest income bracket ($250,000 or more) reported a wealth transfer”,
  • “Compared to only 15 percent in the lowest income bracket (less than $15,000)”;
  • “And 45 percent of households in the highest wealth bracket ($1,000,000 or more) received a transfer”,
  • “Compared to 9 percent in the lowest wealth bracket (less than $25,000)”.

‘The study also noted that “almost all wealth, income, and demographic groups saw a moderate decline in the share of transfer recipients” between 1989 and 2001. The one group that didn’t? The top 1 percent, whose share of households reporting a wealth transfer “remained virtually unchanged.”

A Republican vision for America – The ‘My Corruption Is To Fight For Liberty’ Edition – ”2016: Obama’s America’ Filmmaker Indicted for Violating Campaign Finance Laws’ – ‘Dinesh D’Souza Is Charged With Using Straw Donors’

2016 obama's america

2016 obama's america1

There is so much corruption via money in politics that in ‘Obama’s America’ is against it and charges those who violate the campaign finance laws.

But to Republican, using ‘straw donors’ and causing records to be falsified are just a ‘ minor violation’.

‘Mr. D’Souza has written more than a dozen books, on subjects such as terrorism, American values and Christianity. He has announced plans for a new movie this year, titled “America.”

“We are now living in the America that we warned our fellow citizens could come to pass if President Obama were re-elected,” he wrote on his website’.

‘Federal prosecutors in Manhattan said that Mr. D’Souza encouraged others to give $20,000 to a Senate candidate and reimbursed them for the donations. Election law prohibits such arrangements and caps donations at $5,000 per donor to any one candidate’.

‘Prosecutors also charged Mr. D’Souza with causing the unidentified candidate’s campaign to unwittingly file false campaign documents’.
@ :

‘Gerald Molen, a co-producer of 2016, says the charge is politically motivated’.

“In America, we have a long tradition of not doing what is commonly done in too many other countries — criminalizing dissent through the selective enforcement of the law,” Molen tells THR’.

‘Molen added: “When American citizens begin to suspect that people are being arrested for alleged minor violations because of their vocal dissent against their elected representatives or rulers, it breeds disrespect and contempt for the law and suspicion of those officials’.

  • So to Republicans when you ‘disrespect’ the law, show ‘comtempt’ for the law, ……it’s (wait for it) The Government’s Fault…………

Turn Kentucky Blue – ‘Game On: Alison Grimes Launches a Jobs Missile at Mitch McConnell’

turn kentucky blue

While I’d love to see Texas turn blue, that’s really just wishfull thinking.
Tex Ass is a ‘good ole boys’ State. Slowly changing but still mired in ‘Women are wives not workers’ tradition.

Imagine thinking it’s insulting to ‘blame’ Wendy Davis for ‘taking’ money from her 2nd husband to go to Harvard.

Now if that IS insulting….then I want all the men who had their girlfriends or wives work and take care of the kids while THEY went to school…stand up.

So it’s NOT insulting if the ‘little woman’ stays home and takes care of the kids or works while the ‘big brave man’ goes to school but if the women does that….it’s an insult?

But turning Kentucky Blue?

A very, very real possibility.

‘Kentucky Democratic challenger Alison Lundergan Grimes has launched a where are the jobs missile at struggling Republican Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell with a new ad, in which a constituent says, “Mitch McConnell has been in there for 30 years, and I have yet to see his jobs plan.” Ouch’.

‘Alison for Kentucky released “Our Strength Is Our People: David’s Story,” featuring Harlan County’s David Kennedy’.

The Continuing Republican War On Women – ‘Huckabee: Dems think women can’t control their libido’

war on women1

By all means….Mikie….pray tell show us about this Republican ‘War FOR Women….

Mike Huckabee

“I think it’s time Republicans no longer accept listening to the Democrats talk about a ‘war on women,'” Huckabee said during a speech at the Republican National Committee’s winter meeting in Washington. “The fact is the Republicans don’t have a war on women, they have a war for women, to empower them to be something other than victims of their gender.”

Space…The Final Frontier – ‘Dwarf planet Ceres in asteroid belt may contain more freshwater than Earth’

dwarf planet ceres1

dwarf planet ceres

I’m a bit of a science and science fiction nut so I love this stuff.

‘Scientists have confirmed signs of water on the dwarf planet Ceres, the largest object in the asteroid belt’.

‘A team led by the European Space Agency detected water plumes spewing from two regions of the dwarf planet using the infrared Herschel Space Observatory telescope’.

‘Herschel did not detect water every time it pointed toward Ceres, and the scientists think the water vapor may shoot out as the dwarf planet swings closer to the sun, warming its surface, at some points in its orbit’.

‘The researchers published their findings Thursday in Nature, explaining that the tiny planet – just 590 miles in diameter — has an icy surface that, if melted, may potentially contain more freshwater than all of Earth’.

‘Scientists aren’t sure if the source of the water plumes is a layer of ice beneath the planet’s surface that gets heated by the sun or if they’re spewed by ice volcanoes’.

‘NASA’s Dawn spacecraft is expected to arrive at the Texas-size dwarf planet in spring 2015, but it will arrive when Ceres is far from the sun and may not witness any water activity’.

“We’ve got a spacecraft on the way to Ceres, so we don’t have to wait long before getting more context on this intriguing result, right from the source itself,” said Carol Raymond, deputy principal investigator for Dawn at NASA’s Jet Propulsion Laboratory. “Dawn will map the geology and chemistry of the surface in high resolution, revealing the processes that drive the outgassing activity.”

‘Dawn, which launched in 2007, had previously orbited the protoplanet Vesta, the second-largest object in the asteroid belt between Mars and Jupiter that’s littered with rock left over from the formation of the solar system some 4.6 billion years ago’.

‘The discovery puts Ceres in a special class of solar system objects with active water plumes, a key ingredient for life, and includes Jupiter’s moon Europa – which may have an ocean beneath thick surface ice – and Saturn’s moon Enceladus, where water jets have been spotted on the surface’.

‘Researchers said the discovery bolsters the theory that rocks carrying water and carbon molecules struck Earth billions of years ago, bringing the ingredients essential for life’.

“All It Takes Is One Good Man With A Gun……” – ‘There Has Been An Average Of One School Shooting Every Other School Day So Far This Year’

gun nuts2

‘Though the sample size is far too small to draw any definitive conclusions, 2014 is off to a deadly start’:

‘In the first 14 school days of the year, there have been at least 7 school shootings’.

‘For sake of comparison, there were 28 school shootings in all of 2013, according to gun violence prevention group Moms Demand Action’.

‘That number could have been even higher were it not for several near-misses’.

  • ‘An eighth grader was arrested in Georgia last week after he brought a gun to school on consecutive days and robbed a classmate’.
  • ‘On Tuesday, Portland police rushed to an area high school after a student was reportedly showing off his gun to a fellow classmate during lunch’.
  • ‘And early on Wednesday four teenagers were arrested after they were seen pointing a gun at a school bus in Norfolk, Virginia’.
