Corporations Are People Too – A Republican vision for America – ‘Wisconsin Lawmaker Wants To Take Away Workers’ Weekends’

labor laws

Yes. All those people ‘that volunteer’ to work 12 straight days….

All those people that ‘volunteer’ not take overtime pay so as to not put a burden on the ‘job creators’.

All those people who ‘volunterer’ not to take paid sick days…..

All those people that ‘volunteer’ not to take paid holidays…..

America……where the ‘company store’ is soon to trump the Constitution’s social contract of ‘promote the General Welfare’ and instead promote the Corporate Welfare.

‘Wisconsin state Sen. Glenn Grothman (R) is pushing to undo the state’s law that employers have to provide their employees with at least one day off a week, the Huffington Post reports’.

‘The Huffington Post obtained an email Grothman sent to other state lawmakers on Friday in which he proposes legislation that “would allow an employee to voluntarily choose to work without one day of rest in seven.”

“Right now in Wisconsin, you’re not supposed to work seven days in a row, which is a little ridiculous because all sorts of people want to work seven days a week,” Grothman told The Huffington Post’.

‘But workers don’t have to get a day off every seven days, as they could work for up to 12 in a row “if the days of rest fall on the first and last days of the 2 week period,” according to the law’.

‘Grothman called the law “goofy” and called undoing it a matter of “freedom.”

‘While he argues that the law would ease workers’ ability to work overtime, it’s possible that employers would force their employees to work the extra time, making it less than voluntary’.

“It’s a very hard thing to know whether something is truly voluntary or not,” Vice President of the Economic Policy Institute Ross Eisenbrey told the Huffington Post. “If the employer puts pressure on people and lets them know they will be unhappy if workers exercise their right to have a day off, that might be enough so that no worker ever does anything but volunteer to work seven days a week.”

‘In fact, the power usually lies with employers and instances of them abusing labor laws are already on the rise’.

  • ‘In 2009, two-thirds of low-income workers said they had experienced a wage law violation in the previous week alone’.

‘Wage theft, where an employer illegally withholds overtime pay or makes its employees work off the clock, robs low-wage workers of more money than is stolen from banks, gas stations and convenience stores combined’.

  • ‘Actions filed in federal court alleging wage and hour violations increased by 400 percent between 2000 and 2011’.

‘And the law doesn’t always come to workers’ rescue’.

  • ‘In California, workers recovered less than half of what was taken from them from 2008 to 2011, and, worse, 83 percent of those who actually proved a case of wage theft still never got what they were owed’.

‘American workers already put in more hours and are guaranteed less time off than most other developed peers’.

‘We work more than in any other industrialized countries’.

‘Unlike in the United States, it’s illegal in six of the 10 most competitive countries in the world to make workers put in more than 48 hours a week’.

‘The United States also lacks laws guaranteeing that workers can take time off if they or their family members are sick’,

‘will get vacation or holiday time off’,

‘or can take paid time off for the arrival of a new child’.

‘Many other developed and competitive countries, on the other hand, do guarantee these things’.

‘Grothman would also go further and take away the national holiday for government workers on Martin Luther King, Jr., day. He was a sponsor of the country’s first preemption bill that blocked cities and local communities from enacting paid sick days legislation in Wisconsin’.

Hate, Fear and Loathing – A Republican vision for America – ‘Same-sex marriage opponents call for an uprising’

marriage inequality

marriage inequality1

I am not gay. I have a lot of friends that are. Amazingly in over 60 years….not ONCE has any one every ‘forced’, suggested, hinted at, intervened or tried in any way, shape or form to ‘make’ me gay.

Why?

Because my friends are intelligent enough to know that anyone’s sexual orientation is their business not anyone else’s.

Now if that contradicts what’s in your Bible….then that is YOUR religion and a problem YOU have.

But I am an American…..You know one of those people who believes in the Constitution when it said “Life, Liberty and the Pursuit of Happiness”.

America is not failing because of Marriage Equality or legalizing same sex marriage.

No.

America is failing because of the reaction against Marriage Equality.

Simple minded homophobic’s who want their moral values impressed on everyone else.

What far too many Conservatives actually believe is that if abortions are legal….then you will have to get one.

Ditto if Gays can marry then everyone will be ‘forced’ to become Gay and get Married.

That’s why America is failing.

False equivalency.

HIGHLAND, Utah – ‘Billed as a call for an uprising, opponents of same-sex marriage gathered for a meeting in Highland on Saturday’.

‘Former Graham County, Ariz., Sheriff Richard Mack spoke about issues concerning the U.S. Constitution, including same-sex marriage’.

‘Mack says that since it appears that Herbert and other elected leaders have failed at their jobs, it’s up to law enforcement and everyday citizens to deny same-sex marriage’.

“The people of Utah have rights, too, not just the homosexuals. The homosexuals are shoving their agenda down our throats,” Mack said’.

‘Cherilyn Eager, who helped organize the event, says that it’s time for the citizens of Utah to speak up for their rights’.

“We need people to stand up and speak out. We need to get noisy. We need some outrage,” Eager said. ”It is about the sheriffs now coming out to protect the people.”

‘Mack says that the federal government’s ruling doesn’t overrule Utah’s laws’.

“That’s a lie. That’s an absolute lie. We have a right to raise our kids without homosexuals being part of the Boy Scouts, the schools and teachers and doing everything. They can be all that, but don’t shove your agenda down my kid’s throat. We have a right to raise our kids how we want not how you want,” Mack said’.

‘Mack and Eager urge citizens to call upon their local leaders because change will come from the bottom-up’.

“The way you take back freedom in America is one county at a time. The sheriffs need to defend the county clerks in saying, ‘No, we’re not going to issue marriage licenses to homosexuals,’” Mack said’.

Liberals Lose 2014 – ‘I’m Suing Over ObamaCare Exemptions for Congress’

lawsuit against obamacare sen ron johnson

The House will still vote to defund, delay or ‘repeal’ Obamacare as the Republicans need to show the fringe freak base of the party – teabaggers – that they ‘really mean business’.

But the alternative will be endless legal action outside of Congress such as below. This has trended to ‘play’ very well to moderates especially tied to and after the Obamcare website roll out disaster.

If the Republican leadership can keep the teabaggers gagged until after November, instead of the Democrats picking up 10 to 12 seats in the House, look, with the constant drumming of ‘Obama is being sued’, ‘Obamacare didn’t sign up enough young and healthy’, ‘Obama can’t pass any legislation’ (regardless if it’s caused by filibuster), the Democrats could lose up to 5 seats in the House and 3 in the Senate.

Wall Street Op-Ed by Senator Ron Johnson (R-Wi)

‘If the president wants to change the health-care law, he must ask Congress to do it’.

‘On Monday, Jan. 6, I am filing suit in the U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of Wisconsin to make Congress live by the letter of the health-care law it imposed on the rest of America. By arranging for me and other members of Congress and their staffs to receive benefits intentionally ruled out by the Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act, the administration has exceeded its legal authority’.
