Op-Ed – The End Of Big Government




Government has a social contract with it’s citizens.

The Preamble to the Constitution :

“We the People of the United States, in Order to form a more perfect Union, establish Justice, insure domestic Tranquility, provide for the common defence, promote the general Welfare, and secure the Blessings of Liberty to ourselves and our Posterity, do ordain and establish this Constitution for the United States of America”.

The Constitution tells us only how we will govern ourselvs not what we will do.

As we go deeper and deeper into cutting Government, austerity, the poor and the middle class, those that need Government to maintain a standard of living, will feel the beginning and eventual worsening of the day to day hardships.

The wealthy have no concern for the hardships as they can simply buy servives.

Cutting regulations that protect workers because they put a ‘burden on business’.

Ending the minimum wage (see ALEC).

Cutting Medicare.

Cutting Medicaid.

Cutting or privatizing Social Security.

Cutting Community Grants.

Cutting Food Stamps.

Doing away with protections for the elderly, Veterans, the disabled, the young, single parents, working poor, children will in just a few years time, bring about the failure of civilization.

Holding America Hostage all over again? – A Republican vision for America – ‘Ryan Says GOP to Make Debt-Ceiling Demands in Early ’14’

Sequester. Shutdown. Default or else.


On October 1st, the Republicans had brought themselves to their National collective knees by demanding their Government, not hte one elected a year previous.

President Obama’s political capital was over flowing. His credibility was vindicated.

Two weeks into the disaster of the roll out of the Obamacacre website…….President Obama had no political capital left and not even a chance to spend a single penny of it.
His credibility was completely gone as everyone knew this was not a ‘glich’ but a IT failure.

Now with Speaker Boehner shouting down the far right and Rep. Ryan supporting him, the Republican can shoo aside the 40 to 60 teabaggers and collect the needed 30 to 40 Votes from Democrats that will be challenged by Conservatives in this falls elections.

This is the beginning of three very bad years for America and if you’re poor?

You may not make it.

‘House Budget Committee Chairman Paul Ryan (R., Wis.) signaled that Republicans would not raise the debt ceiling next year without some sort of concessions from Democrats, saying lawmakers were still crafting their strategy’.

“We, as a caucus, along with our Senate counterparts, are going to meet and discuss what it is we want to get out of the debt limit,” Mr. Ryan said on Fox News Sunday. “We don’t want ‘nothing’ out of the debt limit. We’re going to decide what it is we can accomplish out of this debt limit fight.”

‘The White House has said it will no longer negotiate with Republicans on conditions for raising the debt limit, but many Republicans have said they will only vote to raise the debt ceiling in exchange for budget changes like spending cuts’.

‘Early last year, Republicans came back from a meeting in Williamsburg, Va. and passed a bill that suspended the debt ceiling but pushed the Senate to pass a budget resolution, something the Senate had not done in several years. The Senate, led by Senate Budget Committee Chairman Patty Murray (D., Wash.), passed a resolution a few months later’.

‘In October, many Republicans said they would only raise the debt ceiling in exchange for big changes to the White House’s health care law, or big spending cuts. But the GOP eventually backed down over public backlash from the government shutdown’.
