A Republican vision for America – The Rand Paul Cut & Paste Edition – ‘Rand Paul Has Given Speeches Plagiarized From Wikipedia Before’

rand paul

‘Last night, MSNBC’s Rachel Maddow pointed out the similarities between Rand Paul’s talk in Virginia about Gattaca and that futuristic film’s Wikipedia entry’.

‘BuzzFeed decided to look into if Rand Paul had copied from Wikipedia before’.

‘A search of Paul’s speeches on his website turned up one quick glaring example copied almost word-for-word from Wikipedia’.

‘A June 12, 2013 speech on immigration discussed the movie Stand and Deliver. Here’s is the text of Paul’s speech’:

‘Paul’s office did not return a request for comment from BuzzFeed about the initial charges of plagiarism from MSNBC’s Rachel Maddow or BuzzFeed’s own search’.

A Liberal vision for America – ‘Democratic Congressman Blows Up At GOP During Obamacare Hearing: ‘Are You Really Serious?’

Rep Bill Parscrell

This is what all of us are thinking but don’t have
the platform to say to Republicans.

‘Rep. Bill Pascrell (D-NJ) slammed Republicans for
failing to support the Affordable Care Act once it
became law, challenging them to go back to their
districts and tell their constituents that they’ll
be taking away their coverage’.

GRIFFIN: “You asked a question and I’m going to answer it. It’s a false choice to say it’s Obamacare or nothing. There are numerous proposals including one that I’m a co-sponsor of…”

PASCRELL: “Are you serious what you just said? Are you really serious? After what we’ve gone through and what we’ve gone through in the last three and a half years? Have you — you can sit there and say, that you had a legitimate alternative after these years? We’ve gone through 44 votes, 48 votes now, of you trying to dismantle the legislation. You call that cooperation? I don’t”!

I-Dee-Hoe teabagger Alert!! – Republican Dirty Politics – ‘Idaho billboards target state-run health exchange supporters’

But it’s I-Dee Hoe.

Ranking almost last in education and a welfare State too.

So what do you expect?

Can’t have a commie State legislature ‘giving’ away free health care!!!

BOISE – ‘Billboards bashing Idaho lawmakers who cast votes for a state insurance exchange are popping up in legislative districts’.

‘Idaho Freedom Foundation chief Wayne Hoffman said the signs are part of his group’s lobbying campaign to repeal Idaho’s exchange’.

‘Others said the effort appears aimed at Idaho’s 2014 elections, when every seat in the Idaho Legislature will be on the ballot’.

“That looks a lot more like campaigning than lobbying to me,” said Jim Weatherby, a Boise State University professor emeritus of public policy and longtime observer of Idaho politics’.

“It’s not a traditional way of lobbying the Legislature, to use billboards. In fact, I’m hard-pressed to give an example of that.”

‘Rep. Fred Wood, R-Burley, who is named on one of the signs, said he views the billboard near the hospital where he practices medicine as an “effort to try to gin up a political opponent” for him in May’s GOP primary’.

‘“I think that’s what it’s designed to do, to be very blunt about it,” he said. “It’s political advertising.”

“All it takes is one good guy with a gun….” – ‘Study: U.S. Hospitals Admit 7,500 Kids A Year With Gunshot Wounds’

gun saves lives day

‘A new study says that each year approximately 7,500 children are admitted to U.S. hospitals with gunshot wounds and more than 500 children die during hospital admission from these injuries’.

“Handguns account for the majority of childhood gunshot wounds and this number appears to be increasing over the last decade,” Arin Madenci, MD, MPH, the author’s lead study, said in a statement issued by the AAP. “Furthermore, states with higher percentages of household firearm ownership also tended to have higher proportions of childhood gunshot wounds, especially those occurring in the home.”

A Republican vision for America – ‘Food Stamp Cuts Coming For Everyone — Including Nearly A Million Veterans’

food stamps3

food stamps7

‘This cut will affect all SNAP beneficiaries, 87 percent of whom live in households with children, seniors, or people with disabilities, including an estimated 900,000 veterans. More than 80 percent of these Americans are living in poverty’.

But even THAT’S not enough for Republicans…..

‘GOP Rep. Quotes Bible On Food Stamps: ‘If Anyone Is Not Willing To Work, Let Him Not Eat’

Rep. Stephen Fincher’s net worth is $3.3 Million.
@ :

‘Nearly 48 million families will see a cut in their Supplemental Nutritional Assistance Program (SNAP) benefits this Friday, resulting in a reduction of 16 meals a month for a family of three’.

‘These cuts to food stamps, as SNAP is more commonly known, are the result of expiring stimulus programs and are likely to be compounded by further cuts in the upcoming federal budget agreement and restrictions being implemented by the states’.

“Without the Recovery Act’s boost, SNAP benefits in fiscal year 2014 will average less than $1.40 per person per meal,” the Center for Budget and Policy Priorities’ Dottie Rosenbaum and Brynne Keith-Jennings point out’.

‘The cuts will reduce the budget by $5 billion in 2014, which is less than the estimated $7 billion that taxpayers spend subsidizing the fast-food industry’s low wages’.

‘Texas Gov. Rick Perry calls 2nd special session to pass abortion bill’
@ :

Keep electing Republicans that want to force their personal views onto everyone.

AUSTIN, Texas (AP) — ‘New abortion restrictions passed by the Texas Legislature are unconstitutional and will not take effect as scheduled on Tuesday, a federal judge has ruled’.

‘District Judge Lee Yeakel wrote Monday that the regulations violated the rights of abortion doctors to do what they think is best for their patients and would unreasonably restrict a woman’s access to abortion clinics’.

Turn Kentucky Blue – ‘WATCH: Alison Grimes Burns McConnell With Tough New Attack ‘Ad’

alison grimes2

‘The ad, titled “Fire,” compares McConnell’s conduct during the government shutdown crisis to lighting a house on fire and then claiming credit for putting it out’.

“He calls himself a ‘proud guardian of gridlock,’” the ad’s narrator says. “He’s blocked the Senate over 400 times. Then voted to shut down the government, hurting Kentucky’s economy.”

“Mitch McConnell can’t light the house on fire and then claim credit for putting it out,” the ad continues, “especially while it’s still burning.”

Why it’s called the ‘Stupid Party’ – ‘Suzanne Somers Pens Strong Wall Street Journal Critique of Obamacare’

gop lies

‘Reminder: This appeared in The Wall Street Journal. In addition to offering her “down and dirty” advice for retirees, Somers has strong views on socialism’:

“And then there is another consideration: It’s the dark underbelly of the Affordable Care Act reminiscent of what Lenin and Churchill both said. Lenin: “Socialized medicine is the keystone to the arch of the socialist state.” Churchill: “Control your citizens’ health care and you control your citizens.”

  • ‘Unsurprisingly, Lenin never said that line — it’s a decades-old right-wing fabrication’.

‘The more curious line is the Churchill quote’.

  • ‘It’s almost certainly fake, too; it does not appear in the LexisNexis database or in Google. Unless Somers has done original archival work on Churchill, she seems to have fabricated that quote on her own, or possibly received it via chain e-mail’.

‘Still, even by the Journal’s meager intellectual standards, Somers’s op-ed goes badly, badly awry’.

‘I would strongly urge any readers to take 90 seconds from their day to read Somers’s entire column. Her basic premise appears to be that Obamacare is aimed primarily, and perhaps entirely, at retirees’:

“Affordable care will allow for pre-existing conditions. That’s the good part for retirees. But, let’s get down and dirty; the word “affordable” is a misnomer. So far, all you are hearing on the news is how everyone’s premiums are doubling and tripling and it doesn’t take a rocket scientist to recognize that the whole thing is a big mess”.

“So, is affordable care a good thing for retirees? Perhaps over time, it might work if you don’t get too old and you don’t get too sick, and you don’t live too long.
