teabagger Alert!! – ‘Ted Cruz doesn’t know what the government gives him. He’s not alone’

ted cruz2

Taxed Enough Already?

How about when you’re NOT taxed?

You want to stop that too?

‘Ted Cruz obtains health insurance via his wife, a Goldman Sachs employee’.

‘The policy is worth about $20,000 per year. When asked about this, a Cruz spokesman said the plan “comes at no cost to the taxpayer.”

‘As the Huffington Post points out, this isn’t true’:

“As with any family on employer-sponsored coverage, Heidi Nelson Cruz’s health insurance essentially functions as untaxed income. Rather than pay her an additional $20,000 in salary, Goldman compensates her just as much through her health plan, which the Cruz family won’t have to pay taxes on”.

‘If Cruz doesn’t recognize that this is a benefit the government allows him, he’s not alone’.

‘Most Americans who get tax deductions and tax expenditures do not realize that they are benefiting from a government program’.

‘For example, my wife and I get to deduct the interest from our home mortgage on our tax return’.

‘Functionally, that is the same as if we paid our taxes without that deduction, and then the government just cut us a check for the same amount we would have saved with the deduction’.

‘But, unlike with programs that do provide direct subsidies, most Americans do not think of tax credits as government benefits’.

‘Mettler’s data shows that 60 percent of people who claim the mortgage interest deduction say they “have not used a government social program.”

‘Once tax credits are taken into account, the vast majority of Americans — 96 percent — has benefited from a government social program of some kind’.

‘It’s just that many of us, including perhaps Cruz, don’t always realize it’.

A Republican vision for America – ‘Darwin inspired Hitler: Lies they teach in Texas’

making america a christian nation

So called ‘christian’ based education.

‘In 2010, more than 20 percent of Texas charter schools reportedly had a religious affiliation’.

‘When Joshua Bass, an engineer, sent his son to iSchool High, a Houston charter school, he was expecting a solid college preparation, including the chance to study some college courses before leaving high school’.

‘Instead, the Basses were shocked when their son came home from the taxpayer-funded school with apparently religiously motivated anti-science books’.

‘One of these books blamed Darwin’s theory of evolution for the Holocaust’:

“[Hitler] has written that the Aryan (German) race would be the leader in all human progress. To accomplish that goal, all “lower races” should either be enslaved or eliminated. Apparently the theory of evolution and its “survival of the fittest” philosophy had taken root in Hitler’s warped mind”.

‘For Joshua, attacks on science in the classroom were unacceptable’.

‘Joshua began to research ResponsiveEd, the curriculum used at iSchool High’.

‘It emerged that ResponsiveEd was founded by Donald R. Howard, former owner of ACE (Accelerated Christian Education)’.

‘ACE is a fundamentalist curriculum that teaches young-Earth creationism as fact’.

‘Last year it hit headlines because one of its high school science books taught that the Loch Ness Monster was real, and that this was evidence against evolution’.

The Republican War With Stupidity – Stupid 2 – Republicans 0 – Birtherism Alive and Well With Republicans – ‘GOP Lawmaker Says Obama Not a Traitor to Kenya’

rep larry pittman

These are Republicans. Until you hear Boehner, McConnell, Rand Paul, Ted Cruz speak out against this talk, their silence in accepting of it.

‘North Carolina state Rep. Larry Pittman (R) was videotaped telling a crowd of supporters that President Obama isn’t a trator to his country — if that country is Kenya’.

‘Said Pittman: “Someone had posted something with a picture of Barack Obama and across it said ‘traitor.’ And, you know, I don’t always agree with the guy, I certainly didn’t vote for him but I gotta defend him on this one. I just don’t think it’s right at all to call Barack Obama a traitor. There’s a lot of things he’s done wrong but he is not a traitor. Not as far as I can tell. I haven’t come across any evidence yet that he has done one thing to harm Kenya.”

AUDIT RAND PAUL!! – But it’s NOT Republican Obstructionism – ‘Rand Paul Threatens To Hold Up Janet Yellen Nomination To Fed: Report’

rand paul1

The Paul’s obsession with wanting to audit the Federal Reserve that is already audited continues…..

‘Sen. Rand Paul (R-Ky.) has threatened to block the nomination of Janet Yellen to chair the Federal Reserve, CNBC reported Friday’.

‘Citing a source close to Paul, CNBC wrote that the Kentucky Republican “is insisting on a vote on his Fed transparency bill, and has informed Senate leadership of his intentions.”

The bill in question, the Federal Reserve Transparency Act of 2011, would eliminate current audit restrictions placed on the Government Accountability Office and require the Fed to undergo a complete audit by a specific deadline’.

‘Similar legislation was championed in the House by Paul’s father, former GOP presidential candidate and Texas Rep. Ron Paul.

‘The senator hinted at his plans in a video message Thursday for his father’s political group, Campaign for Liberty’.

“There’s no time to waste. Right now, the U.S. Senate is preparing to debate and confirm the new Obama nominee to chair the Federal Reserve,” Paul says in a voiceover. “I say not so fast. I say vote no on a new Fed chairman without a vote on my Audit the Fed bill.”

‘The Federal Reserve: Audited, Transparent and Independent’
‘Through the Government Accountability Office (GAO), Congress can audit all parts of the Federal Reserve’s operations except for monetary policy and related areas explicitly exempted through a 1978 provision passed by Congress. Congress created the exemption to protect monetary policy from short-term political pressures and to support the Fed’s ability to effectively pursue mandated objectives of maximum employment and price stability’.
