“All it takes is one good guy with a gun” – ‘David Carrender, Another ‘Responsible’ Gun Owner, Shoots And Kills Son Over Football’

gun saves lives day

‘On Sunday David Carrender, 49 and his 19-year-old son, Wyatt Carrender, watched games together at a local restaurant or bar when Wyatt said he wanted to go home’.

‘His father was not ready to leave yet and the two began arguing’.

‘Police say the argument continued when the pair returned home and that’s when tragedy struck’.

‘The father retrieved his handgun and shot his son six times, according to Sheriff Robert Downey’.

A Republican vision for America – ‘Republicans Shut Down the Government for Nothing’

boehner trust me

And here, in this context, Republicans mean teabaggers.

If Republicans keep cowering in fear of being primaried by the fringe right, then this will keep happening.

Losing in policy and losing at the polls.

‘For Republicans, it was basically for nothing’.

‘The GOP will actually get less out of the final deal being brokered than the party would have gotten had House conservatives never staged their revolt on Obamacare’.

‘The “concession” extracted by the GOP in the deal, the sole change to the health-care law, is purely cosmetic’:

‘a reinstatement of the requirement that people seeking subsidies under the Affordable Care Act furnish proof that they qualify’.

‘That requirement was in the original law, but the administration delayed it when implementation hit snags in July’.

  • ‘Obamacare will not be repealed’.
  • ‘Obamacare will not be defunded’.
  • ‘Obamacare will not be delayed’.
  • ‘The individual mandate will not be delayed’.
  • ‘The medical-device tax will not be repealed’.
  • ‘The health-insurance subsidies given to members of Congress and their staffs will not be taken away’.

‘Democrats will get the government funded at levels they (grudgingly) sought in the first place, for longer than they originally sought, and without the looming threat of default’.

‘So what did Republicans get for shutting down the government for 17 days’?

  • ‘Their poll numbers tanked’.
  • ‘Their gubernatorial candidate in Virginia appears headed for defeat in next month’s election’.
  • ‘The business community is rethinking its support’.
  • ‘Veterans and the elderly are ticked off’.
  • ‘And any leverage they ever had to push their goals of reducing the size of government and chipping away at health-care reform is gone’.

‘All in all, it’s been a worthwhile exercise for the GOP’.

Turn kentucky Blue!! – ‘McConnell-Reid Deal Includes $3 Billion Earmark for Kentucky Project’

Did YOU get anything from re-opening the Government?

Mitch ‘Earmark’ McConnell did!!

‘Language in a draft of the McConnell-Reid deal (see page 13, section 123) provided to WFPL News shows a provision that increases funding for the massive Olmsted Dam Lock in Paducah, Ky., from $775 million to nearly $2.9 billion’.

‘Asked about the additional funding in the proposal, McConnell spokesman Robert Steurer directed all questions to lawmakers who worked on the bill directly’.

“Senators (Diane) Feinstein and (Lamar) Alexander, the chair and ranking member of the energy and water subcommittee, worked on the issue and can help you,” he says’.

‘Since 2009, McConnell has been an outspoken supporter of the project, and has been working on getting its funding for some time’.

‘Still, conservative critics of the proposal argue it is nothing more than a “kickback” for McConnell in an age where Tea Parties have eschewed earmarks’.

teabaggerr Alert!! – ‘Tea Party’s Image Turns More Negative – Ted Cruz’s Popularity Soars among Tea Party Republicans’

When your popularity soars within a group that is seen as less favorable – is that a good thing?

‘The Tea Party is less popular than ever, with even many Republicans now viewing the movement negatively. Overall, nearly half of the public (49%) has an unfavorable opinion of the Tea Party, while 30% have a favorable opinion’.

‘By contrast, Sen. Ted Cruz’s popularity has soared among Tea Party Republicans while declining among non-Tea Party Republicans’.

‘Since July, as Cruz’s visibility has increased, his favorable rating among Tea Party Republicans has risen by 27 points – from 47% to 74%’.

‘At a Wednesday briefing, a collection of House conservatives effectively called the attending reporters liars’.

“You guys in the media continued reporting that what the conservatives were asking for was the full repeal of Obamacare. That’s absolutely false,” said Rep. Raul Labrador (R-ID), a member of the Republican Study Committee and the point person during the Wednesday briefing’.

“We never asked for a full repeal of Obamacare because we can’t get that,” he said. “We have voted on a full repeal of Obamacare that the Senate has rejected every single time. But what we were asking for, our position from the beginning, was exchanging a one-year CR for a one-year delay of Obamacare. That was something we thought both sides were giving on something.”

Stories From The Fringe Freaks….The Same People Who Told You Romney Was Going To Win In A Landslide – ‘CONGRESSMAN: ‘CONSTITUTIONAL CRISIS’ IF GOP CAVES ON DEBT CEILING’

When a functioning Government – “immediate crisis will quickly vanish, credit markets will calm and public life will return to other matters” is a ‘Constitutional crisis’ – then lets have a ‘Constitutional crisis’ everyday.
‘On the House floor on Monday, Rep. Tom McClintock (R-CA) argued that President Barack Obama’s activities during the government shutdown over Obamacare are a sign to him that Obama would act nefariously to attack the full faith and credit of the United States of America by taking the country into a default in a debt ceiling crisis if the president does not get everything he wants in negotiations’.

“Given the ruthless and vindictive way the shutdown has been handled, I now believe that this president would willfully act to destroy the full faith and credit of the United States unless the Congress acquiesces to all of his demands, at least as long as he sees political advantage in doing so,” McClintock said in a speech on the floor of the House of Representatives’.

“If the Republicans acquiesce, immediate crisis will quickly vanish, credit markets will calm and public life will return to other matters’.

‘McClintock said that while the current impasse began “over a collapsing health program,” Obamacare, “it’s now taken on the dimensions of a constitutional crisis.”

teabagger Alert!! – ‘Tea Party Hypocrisy Perfected: Idaho Candidate Opposes Medicaid, Has TEN Kids On Medicaid’

greg collett

‘You may have never heard of Greg Collett. He is a twice failed Tea Party candidate for the Idaho state legislature. He is a software engineer who has ten home schooled children. Greg Collett is like many Americans in that he wants what he thinks is best for his family. Recently, he has become the latest poster boy for right wing hypocrisy regarding health care’.

‘Collett is also identified in an NBC News story from October 1, as someone who is opposed to Obamacare. He told reporter Maggie Fox’ :

“I don’t think that the government should be involved in health care or health insurance”.

‘Greg Collett’s ten children are all on Medicaid’.
