The Music of the Millenniums – Flogging Molly

flogging molly

flogging molly1

If you’ve never taken a listen, grab a pint and open you ears.

Being a Sci Fi nut and especially a big fan of the Stargate (from the orginal movie with Kurt Russell to the 3 different series SG1, Atlantas & Universe), I first heard Flogging Molly on this show.

Haven’t stopped and don’t have any plans to either……

A ‘Conservative’ vision for America – ‘How Ted Cruz Is Keeping Jesse Helms’ Legacy Alive’

Ted Cruz and the Republicans- taking America back to the ‘good old days’.

Jesse Helms –

“I’m not going to put a lesbian in a position like that…”.
“If you want to call me a bigot, fine.”

–’Jesse Helms, in response to President Clinton’s 1993 nomination of Roberta Achtenberg as an assistant secretary at the Department of Housing and Urban Development’.

‘The Helms amendment would have added the following language to the bill’:

“It is the sense of the Senate that”:

1. “The homosexual movement threatens the strength and survival of the American family as the basic unit of society”;
2. “State sodomy laws should be enforced because they are in the best interest of public health”;
3. “The Federal Government should not provide discrimination protections on the basis of sexual orientation; and”
4. “School curriculums should not condone homosexuality as an acceptable lifestyle in American society.”

Jessie Helms :

“In 1982, Helms fell short of pushing through measures that would have stripped the Supreme Court’s jurisdiction on cases involving abortion, school prayer, and school busing. He voted often to outlaw or restrict abortion rights and eliminate the use of busing for school integration. He also tried to do away with food stamps”.

‘Sen. Ted Cruz (R-TX) praised a former conservative senator best known for his opposition to African American civil rights and gay people on Wednesday, suggesting that the nation would be better off if Congress were still filled with lawmakers who shared his beliefs and positions’.

“It’s every bit as true now as it was then,” Cruz said at a fundraiser hosted at the Heritage Foundation. “We need 100 more like Jesse Helms in the U.S. Senate.”

Why it’s called the ‘Stupid Party’ – ‘Boehner Seeking Democrats’ Help on Fiscal Talks’

day in a picture25

Speaker Boehner wants to blame the President and Democrats for the failure on budget talks because the teabagger extremists want to cut social programs, increase defense sdpending and cut taxes for the wealthy and so won’t agree to anything unless that’s done.

Yeah it’s the Democrats fault…..

It’s the Democrats fault.
‘In meetings with Democratic and Republican Congressional leaders on Thursday after a session with Treasury Secretary Jacob J. Lew on Wednesday, Mr. Boehner sought a resumption of negotiations that could keep the government running and yield a deficit-reduction deal that would persuade recalcitrant conservatives to raise the government’s borrowing limit’.

‘Much of the federal government will shut down as of Oct. 1 unless Congress approves new spending bills to replace expiring ones, and by mid-October, the Treasury Department will lose the borrowing authority to finance the government and pay its debts’.

“It’s time for the president’s party to show the courage to work with us to solve this problem,” said Mr. Boehner, who argued that budget deals have been part of past agreements to raise the debt limit’.

‘But a bloc of 43 House Republicans undercut the speaker’s deficit-reduction focus, introducing yearlong funding legislation that would increase Pentagon and veterans spending and delay President Obama’s health care law for a year — most likely adding to the budget deficit. That bloc is large enough to thwart any compromise that does not attract Democratic support’.

“Obamacare is the most dangerous piece of legislation ever passed in Congress,” said Representative John Fleming, Republican of Louisiana. “It is the most existential threat to our economy” that the country has seen “since the Great Depression, so I think a little bit of additional deficit is nothing,” he added’.

teabaggfer Alert!! Holding America Hostage – A ‘Conservative’ vision for America – ‘Congressman Floats Defunding Part of the Executive Branch’

louie gohmert

Instead of ‘checks and balances’ teabaggers like Louie want to control the other branches.

Holding America Hostage.

True believer teabagger values.

‘Republican Louie Gohmert suggested Thursday that it may be necessary to defund part of the branch “until such time as they become truthful.”

Louie :

“When one party in power in the executive branch can weaponize its federal agencies against its political opponents, unless it is stopped, this little experiment in democracy will come to an end”.

“If the administration is not going to be forthcoming with information about the IRS, then it may be necessary to defund part of the executive branch until such time as they become truthful”.

Stories From The Religious Fringe….Freaks – ”Christian’ Family Research Council Tony Perkins: Boycott Betty Crocker For Baking Wedding Cakes For Gay Couples’

tony perkins

‘When gay rights advocates criticized Chick-fil-A for the company’s financial support of anti-gay organizations, the Family Research Council decried their “gaystapo tactics.”

‘Apparently, the FRC believes that boycotts are only acceptable if they are organized by conservative groups’.

‘In fact, the FRC is already boycotting companies like Starbucks and McDonalds, and even the Girl Scout Cookies’.

‘Today on his daily radio commentary, FRC president Tony Perkins urged listeners to also boycott Betty Crocker and offered a link to the National Organization for Marriage’s campaign at’

‘Perkins was outraged that Betty Crocker donated custom cakes to three gay Minnesota couples who were married after the state legalized same-sex marriage, and upset that a company spokesman said that “Betty celebrates all families.”

Space – The Final Frontier – ‘NASA confirms Voyager 1 has left the solar system’

voyager 1

We have finally left our solar system.

Well actually a year ago.

I personally believe that we are not the only beings in the Universe and yes other intelligent races have been, are and will be ‘out there’.

In the big picture, it wasn’t that long ago we figured out what fire could do.

Of course now with Voyager exploring the Universe….we created a big problem that Captain Kirk will have to solve.

‘NASA confirmed Thursday that after 36 years of space travel and months of heated debate among scientists, Voyager 1 has indeed left our solar system and had entered interstellar space more than a year ago’.

“Voyager has boldly gone where no probe has gone before, marking one of the most significant technological achievements in the annals of the history of science,” said John Grunsfeld, NASA’s associate administrator for the Science Mission Directorate’.

‘At a Thursday news conference in Washington, D.C., officials said the belated confirmation was based on new “key” evidence involving space plasma density. The evidence was outlined in a paper published online Thursday in the journal Science’.

‘Lead author Don Gurnett, a University of Iowa plasma physicist and a Voyager project scientist, said the data showed conclusively that Voyager 1 had exited the heliopause — the bubble of hot, energetic particles that surrounds our sun and planets — and entered into a region of cold, dark space called the interstellar medium’.
