Why it’s called the ‘Stupid Party’ – ‘Boehner ups the ante for a budget showdown in September’

budget control act

Republicans – creating their own reality.

In 2011 :

‘House passes Budget Control Act after dramatic visit from Rep. Gabby Giffords’
“The bill had bipartisan support, drawing 174 Republican and 95 Democratic “yes” votes”.

“Some hawkish Republicans started the day uneasy about the cuts to defense spending. But after a personal visit with Speaker of the House John Boehner, House Armed Services Committee Chairman Buck McKeon voted in favor of the bill”.

In 2013 :

‘Speaker John Boehner (R-Ohio) told House Republicans on Thursday that he wants to push through a temporary spending measure that incorporates automatic cuts, upping the ante for a September budget showdown’.

“The president’s threat to shut down the government if we implement his sequester is not a defensible position,” Boehner said. “The American people won’t stand for it, and we’re not going to be swayed by it.”

“Our message will remain clear: until the president agrees to better cuts and reforms that help grow the economy and put us on path to a balanced budget, his sequester – the sequester he himself proposed, insisted on, and signed into law – stays in place,” the Speaker added’.

Gun Nuts Out Of Control – ‘Responsible’ Gun Owner Grandfather Claims Self-Defense After Gunning Down 23-Month-Old’

gun nuts1

‘Sadly on Tuesday night, 23-month-old Deandre Vega joined the 7,416 people that have been killed by gun violence since Newtown when his grandfather, 39-year-old Luis Efrain Torres, set out to kill another family member’.

‘Just before 10:00 pm on Tuesday an altercation erupted between Torres and little Deandre’s father, Rochell McCoy, in Torres’ driveway in Lilburn, Georgia’.

‘During the argument Torres pulled a gun and fired shots at McCoy, inadvertently striking Deandre’.

‘After hearing gunshots neighbors called 911; when first responders arrived they found the child laying in the driveway and rushed him to a nearby medical center where he later died’.

‘Torres spoke to Channel 2 Action News, from the Gwinnett County Detention Center on Wednesday where he is being held without bond. He is claiming self-defense’:

“I was arguing with him and him with me,” Torres explained, “And he threw me to the floor and pushed me and hit me.”

When Torres realized what happened, he ran to the child’s side, he said. He said he’s devastated by his grandson’s death. “I love my family, but I lost everything.”

‘Torres was arrested at the scene and charged with aggravated assault and murder. Cpl. Jake Smith, of the Gwinnett County police, confirmed that the Deandre was not the intended victim’.

“At this time, we don’t think he intended to actually shoot that child,” Smith said at the scene Tuesday night. “But we do believe he was trying to shoot someone else that was here.”

The Republican ‘War On Women’ – ‘Court strikes down Arizona law defunding Planned Parenthood’

war on women11

war on women2

The Ninth Circuit Court of Appeals upheld a U.S. District Court ruling that will prevent Arizona Governor Jan Brewer’s administration from effectively defunding Planned Parenthood’.

‘In their opinion, the panel of judges held that the Arizona law (HB 2800) violates the Medicaid Act’s requirement that Medicaid recipients are free to choose their provider “by precluding Medicaid patients from using medical providers concededly qualified to perform family planning services to patients in Arizona generally, solely on the basis that those providers separately perform privately funded, legal abortions.”

‘The law would have prevented Arizona patients from having access to preventative care — including cancer screenings, STI tests, and birth control — at a Planned Parenthood health center’.

But it’s NOT Republican Obstructionism – ‘Louie Gohmert: GOP Lawmakers Meet Weekly To Plot Obamacare’s Downfall’

And the Republican alternative to Obamacare?

The Emergency Room.

‘Rest assured, Obamacare opponents: A group of Republican lawmakers meets every week to figure out how to get rid of President Barack Obama’s signature health care law’.

‘Rep. Louie Gohmert (R-Texas) revealed this fact on Wednesday, during a standing-room only event sponsored by the Republican Party of Harrison County in Marshall, Texas’.

“Since May, there’s been a group of senators and about 10 or 12 House members, we’ve been meeting once a week trying to figure out what’s the strategy (to remedy the nation’s current financial and healthcare woes) and (Senator) Mike Lee took the lead on the strategy, and the strategy is to fund every part of government including some things some of us don’t care to fund and completely defund Obamacare,” he said, as reported by the Marshall News Messenger’.

A ‘Conservative’ vision for America – ‘Conservatives Finally Announce Alternative To Obamacare: Just Go To The Emergency Room’

GOP health care

‘Heritage president and former South Carolina senator Jim DeMint continued his campaign to convince Republicans to shut down the government in a ploy to defund the Affordable Care Act on Wednesday, telling a town hall in Tampa, Florida that “This might be that last off-ramp to stop Obamacare before it becomes more enmeshed in our culture.”

‘The law “is not about getting better health care,” he continued. Uninsured Americans “will get better health care just going to the emergency room.”

‘The so-called “free” care at emergency rooms is a result of The Emergency Medical Treatment and Active Labor Act or (EMTALA), which requires hospitals that accept Medicare or Medicaid funding to treat patients for emergency medical conditions regardless of legal status or ability to pay’.

‘But EMTALA only applies to medical emergencies like heart attacks or serious injury’.

‘It does not offer any treatment for chronic conditions, leaving the millions of Americans with diabetes who need regular access to medication to stay alive, or asthma patients, or women diagnosed with breast cancer without access to care’.

A ‘Conservative’ vision for America – ‘Sen. Coburn: Obama ‘perilously close’ to impeachment’

impeach obama

Again…..impeached for what reason……And not one of these Republicans can name a single charge.

You Senator Coburn are considered one of the intelligent and rational Republicans.

But to pander to the extreme base of the Republicans Party?

And for what?

Senator Coburn….do you get down on your knees to kiss the teabaggers ass?

Anything to make this President illegitimate.
‘Coburn didn’t get into specifics of Obama’s perceived transgressions but said the president has abused executive privileges with “loose interpretation” and “lawlessness.”

‘The Oklahoma Republican admitted he doesn’t know “where the level is” when it comes to violations that could amount to an impeachment but said he’s “documenting all this stuff as it goes along.”

‘Sen. Tom Coburn (R-Okla.) said Wednesday that President Obama was getting “perilously close” to being impeached’.

“I think those are serious things, but we’re in serious times,” Coburn at a town-hall meeting in his home state in response to a constituent question about impeachment. “I don’t have the legal background to know if that rises to high crimes and misdemeanors, but I think you’re getting perilously close.”

‘GOP Poll Finds Massive Opposition To Government Shutdown Plan’

no to shutdown

But Speaker Boehner insists he and the House Republicans and ‘doing the people’s work’.

‘In a national survey of 1,000 registered voters done July 31 and August 1, the question, from pollster David Winston, said, “Some members of Congress have proposed shutting down the government as a way to defund the president’s health care law” and asked respondents whether they favored or opposed that plan’.

‘Overall, 71 percent of those surveyed opposed a shutdown, while 23 percent favored a shutdown’.

‘Among Republicans, 53 percent opposed, versus 37 percent who favored’.

‘Winston found a huge gender gap among Republicans. Republican men favored a shutdown by a narrow 48 percent to 44 percent margin. But Republican women opposed it by an enormous 61 percent to 29 percent margin’.

‘Among Republicans who called themselves conservative, those who said they are very conservative favored shutdown by 63 percent to 27 percent, while those who said they are somewhat conservative opposed shutdown by 62 percent to 31 percent’.

‘Overall, Republicans who call themselves conservative were evenly split on the issue, 46 percent to 46 percent’.

Stories From The Fringe Freaks – ‘Gun Owners of America Larry Pratt and Solomon: Obamacare Will Force Gun Owners to Undergo Electro-Shock Therapy’

gun nuts 2nd amend

‘On a recent episode of the Talk to Solomon Show, Gun Owners of America executive director and actual influential person Larry Pratt played a sort of conspiracy-theory Mad Libs with host Stan Solomon, which resulted in the conclusion that Obamacare will force gun owners to undergo electro-shock therapy against their wills’.

‘Solomon started off the conversation by reading from a Fort Myers, Florida News-Press story about a surge of people with severe depression or bipolar disorder seeking out electro-shock therapy treatment from a local hospital. He took this and ran with it, predicting that the government will soon force gun owners who resist home invasion to undergo the treatment’.

‘Pratt agreed, saying, “I think part of that is what we’re seeing in Obamacare. This is going to be what you’re talking about several times over.”
