‘Coffee With Cathy’ – Washington State’s Republican 5th District US House Representative Cathy McMorris Rodgers

You’re Republican Cathy McMorris Rodgers.
A member of the Republican House Leadership.

Congress has a 10% job approval.

Speaker John Boehner has said that there will be spending cuts before the House will raise the debt ceiling.

The Republican House just passed for the 40th time, legislation that would defund a part of ‘Obamacare’.

Over in the Senate, Senator Ted Cruz says that Republicans there will pass a budget but won’t fund Obamacare even if it means shutting down the Government.

So of course Republican Cathy McMorris Rodgers first act coming home for a 5 week recess, would be to hold town hall meetings to discuss with voters these and other pressing issues.

Republican Cathy McMorris Rodgers first act will be to hold a fund raiser and have a special guest Representative Eric Cantor.

teabagger Alert!! – Republican Extremism – ‘Rep. Ted Yoho Praises Birther Conspiracy, Calls Obamacare Racist Against White People’

Fla Rep Yoho

‘Speaking at a town hall meeting earlier this month, Florida Republican congressman Ted Yoho promised that he would support possible birther legislation floated by Rep. Steve Stockman (R-TX), telling the audience that after learning about a potential birther bill from Stockman while attending a Tea Party meeting, he called the congressman and agreed to back it’.

‘While Yoho told the crowd that the issue of President Obama’s birth certificate was a “distraction” from topics like the national debt, he said he was hopeful that a birther investigation could bring down the whole government: “They said if it is true, it’s illegal, he shouldn’t be there and we can get rid of everything he’s done, and I said I agree with that.”

‘Yoho also seemed to embrace the right-wing claim that Obamacare is “racist” because it taxes tanning beds, explaining that if he goes tanning then he will be “disenfranchised because I got taxed because of the color of my skin.”

Blog Running – ‘2014 Senate Prognostication’

sernate 2014

Great, great, GREAT breakdown of the 2014 Senate races over at Booman Tribune :

‘With some initial polling showing Arkansas incumbent Senator Mark Pryor comfortably ahead in his reelection race, I guess it is time to take a very preliminary look at the 2014 Senate outlook’.

‘It’s a bad year for the Democrats both because they have to defend more seats and because they are defending several in red states while having two opportunities (New Jersey and Maine) to pick up seats in blue states’.

‘Currently, there are 52 Democrats plus two independents (Bernie Sanders of Vermont and Angus King of Maine) who caucus with the Democrats, and there are 46 Republicans’.

‘Here’s how I call them, with party control changes bolded’:

‘LEAN DEM: Alaska, Arkansas, Iowa, Louisiana, Michigan, (boldNew Jersey), North Carolina’

‘LEAN GOP: Maine, Nebraska, South Carolina, South Carolina (Class III), (boldSouth Dakota, West Virginia)’

‘TOSS-UP: Kentucky, Georgia, Montana’

‘What does this mean? It means that the Democrats will pick up one seat (New Jersey) and lose two seats (South Dakota and West Virginia), with Kentucky, Georgia, and Montana too close to call’.

‘We should go into election night with a 55-45 advantage (having picked up the New Jersey seat)’.

‘Quite likely, we will end the night with a 53-47 advantage, having retained New Jersey but lost South Dakota and West Virginia’.

‘If the GOP adds Montana, we will be down to 52-48’.

‘If we save Montana and win either (but not both) Kentucky and Georgia, we will be where we are now (54-46)’.

‘If we hold Montana and win both Kentucky and Georgia then we’ll be where we started (55-45)’.

‘To have a great night, we need to figure out a way to steal a seat in Maine, Nebraska, South Carolina (two available) or Nebraska’.

‘In any case, somewhere between 52-48 and 55-45 is what I expect, although things could turn either way to make the margins bigger’.

Why it’s called the ‘Stupid Party’ – ‘House GOP Weighs Defunding ACORN In 13th Vote To Block Funds To Defunct Organization’

republicans defund acorn

“Thirteen votes to defund a program that no longer exists. Forty votes to repeal a health care law that is transforming millions of lives,” said Drew Hammill, a spokesman for House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi (D-Calif.), comparing the anti-ACORN legislation to the House GOP’s routine votes to repeal Obamacare. “If their agenda is to do nothing on a timeline of never, they’re setting record pace.”

‘A spokesman for House Speaker John Boehner (R-Ohio) declined to comment on the ACORN legislation and directed questions to Jennifer Hing, spokeswoman for the GOP majority on the House Appropriations Committee. Hing has repeatedly told HuffPost that the defunding of ACORN is a “standard provision” that goes into most appropriations bills’.

‘When House GOP leaders abruptly shelved a bill to fund standard federal transportation and housing programs last Wednesday, one of the legislation’s few uncontroversial provisions was a section banning funds for the anti-poverty group ACORN’.

‘Had Speaker of the House John Boehner (R-Ohio) been able to pass the bill, it would have marked the 13th time that Republicans have voted to block federal funding for ACORN since the GOP took over the lower chamber in 2011’.

‘Oddly, however, ACORN, or the Association of Community Organizations for Reform Now, does not exist. And it did not exist at any time when the House GOP has held a vote on ACORN’s access to government monies — the group disbanded in the spring of 2010’.

Republicans 2016 – Why it’s called the ‘Stupid Party’ – ‘Rick Perry shows up in new glasses at RedState gathering’

rick perry3

NEW ORLEANS – ‘Rick Perry didn’t look like the same politician of two years ago at the RedState conservative blogger conference on Saturday’.

‘For one thing, when the Texas governor showed up in New Orleans, he was wearing black horn rimmed glasses that are new to his appearance’.

‘Touting Texas, Perry declared, “There are many other states that embrace those conservative values, the approach we’ve taken over the years. I’m in one today – Florida.”

“We’re in Louisiana,” someone shouted’.

A ‘Conservative’ vision for America – ‘RNC Says No Debates If NBC and CNN Don’t Pull Clinton Movies’

‘The Republican National Committee has a message for NBC and CNN: If they don’t pull their planned Hillary Clinton miniseries and movie, no RNC partnered 2016 debates for them’.

Oh my bad. I seem to have posted the story of the Fall 2012 (right in the middle of the Presidential election) promotion by FOX (cough) ‘news’ of the anti Obama film ‘2016: Obama’s America.

So today’s Conservative lesson is : Republicans can trash Democrats even during an election but at no time can Democrats trash Republicans – even 3 years from an election over an undeclaired candidate.

From August 27, 2012
‘This afternoon on Fox News’ America Live, correspondent Trace Gallagher reported on the “surprise” box-office success of Dinesh D’Souza’s new anti-Obama film, 2016: Obama’s America, noting that the film “had to rely on word of mouth, talk radio, plus cable news to get exposure.”

‘Gallagher was right: D’Souza and his film have thus far received nothing but positive promotion from Fox News and Fox Business hosts despite its factual inaccuracies and dishonesty’.

‘D’Souza has appeared on Fox networks five times in a month and a half to promote the movie and its companion book, Obama’s America: Unmaking the American Dream’.

‘Those appearances were on July 17, 2012 (Hannity), July 27, 2012 (Lou Dobbs Tonight), August 13, 2012 (Hannity), August 14, 2012 (Lou Dobbs Tonight), and August 20, 2012 (The O’Reilly Factor)’.

Gun Nuts Out Of Control – The Story Continues – ‘Petition Calls For The National Guard To Disarm Militia Holding One Pennsylvania Town Hostage’

‘Following a public meeting in the Borough of Gilberton, Pennsylvania, in which armed supporters of the infamous Police Chief Mark Kessler blocked members of the community from entering the building, citizens have created a We The People Petition at calling for federal intervention in the town’.

The petition : ‘Federalize the Pennsylvania National Guard and disarm the Gilberton, Pennsylvania Chief of Police and his thugs’.
@ :

‘The petition asks for the National Guard to disarm the suspended police chief and his followers, who call themselves the “Constitution Security Force.”

‘Rather than fire Kessler, however, the council chose to place him on a thirty-day suspension. Chief Kessler has already cost the town of Gilberton over $15,000, after a councilman won a lawsuit against him and two other local officials following an incident where he was arrested and strip searched in retaliation for a political speech’.

‘One possible reason the Borough council may not be taking steps to fire Kessler is that officials may fear retaliation from him or his supporters’.

‘Additionally, because Kessler is the head of the police force in this small borough, it is unlikely that members of Kessler’s militia will be arrested, even after their illegal activities at the public meeting in early August’.

‘While the state of Pennsylvania did dispatch helicopters to the public meeting, no further action against the militia has been taken by state officials either’.
