Why America Is Failing – ‘Let’s just say it – Republicans are the problem’ – ‘House Falls Apart When The GOP Actually Tries To Implement The Ryan Budget’

repubs are the problem

Remember that article?

‘Let’s just say it: The Republicans are the problem’.
@ :

Yeah far too few do. It’s one of the reasons America is failing.

‘House Republicans failed to pass an appropriations bill on Wednesday that would have cut federal transportation spending by $4.4 billion, halting their first attempt to implement the deep cuts to federal spending they have campaigned on and supported in the past’.

‘In March, for the third time, House Republicans passed a budget outline written by Rep. Paul Ryan (R-WI)’.

‘This Ryan Budget included a radical re-do of Medicare for anyone 55 and under along with even more cuts than the previous two because it kept the sequestration in place, while shifting the defense cuts to other areas of the budget, and set a course for the budget to be balanced within 10 years’.

“With this action, the House has declined to proceed on the implementation of the very budget it adopted three months ago,” said appropriations chair Hal Rogers (R-KY). “Thus I believe that the House has made its choice: sequestration — and its unrealistic and ill-conceived discretionary cuts — must be brought to an end.”

‘It’s much harder to vote for $4.4 billion in cuts when you — and your opponents — see how those cuts would actually hit your district and you know they have no chance of passing the Senate or being signed into law by the president’.

‘Boehner assured reporters that his caucus’ strategy was not falling apart, but he did call for a short-term continuing resolution to prevent a government shutdown’.

“It’s clear that we’re not going to have the appropriations bills finished by September 30,” Boehner said Thursday morning. “I believe a continuing resolution for some short period of time would probably be in the nation’s interest. I think it’s important for Congress to do its work.”

‘It’s so important that Boehner has the House scheduled to be session for nine whole days in September’.

ANOTHER GOP FILIBUSTER! – But it’s NOT Republican Obstructionism – ‘Senate GOP stymies transportation-housing bill’

‘A bipartisan transportation and housing bill stalled in the Senate on Thursday after the GOP leadership peeled back the votes of Republicans who had previously supported the $54 billion package when reported by the Appropriations Committee in June’.

‘The 54-43 roll call — six short of the 60 votes needed to invoke cloture — comes on the heels of Wednesday’s decision by the House GOP leadership to pull its own $44.1 billion version of the same bill’.

‘The twin events underscore both the continued dysfunction that plagues Congress and the virtual lock that Republicans enjoy over even incremental progress on the budget front’.

‘In the case of the House, the Republican transportation and housing bill cut so deeply that it was judged to lack even a simple majority. In the case of the Senate, the bill added back almost $10 billion and had been reported with six Republican votes. But it was blocked for not having a supermajority’.

Republican Extremism – ‘House GOP drafting new food stamp bill with $40B in cuts’

food stamps1

Why do republicans hate children, the poor, the working poor, the elderly, the disabled and even some military families?

‘The number of people using food stamps roughly corresponds to the number of Americans living in poverty, which rose to just below 50 million people in 2011’.

‘Almost half the children presently receiving SNAP benefits—some 10 million—already live in extreme poverty, which means household income is less than half the official poverty level, already set an unrealistically low level. Another 9 million receiving food stamps are elderly or have a serious disability’.

‘The cuts in SNAP benefits will quite literally take food off the table for millions of American families at a time of deepening poverty and burgeoning social inequality’.
@ :

‘The 5,000 military families receiving food stamps was a tiny percentage of the 48 million recipients nationwide, but it was a major increase over the previous year when the Department of Agriculture reported that only 1,000 recipients listed “active duty military” as their employment status’.
@ :

‘House Republicans are drafting legislation that would cut $40 billion from the federal food stamp program over 10 years’.

‘That’s nearly double the $20.5 billion in cuts that were included in the farm bill legislation that failed on the House floor in June’.

The Republican ‘War On Women’ and Republican Extremism – ‘Texas Republicans Consider Charging Wendy Davis $2.4 Million For Special Session’

turn texas blue1

wendy davis

How dare anyone disagree with a Republican!!

Why a filibuster is just un American!!

Of course if you applied the same rule to the Republicans in the US Senate – the Republicans would have fork over just about enough to pay off the national debt.

So to Texan Republicans – the difference is it was a (gasp) Democrat using the filibuster.

How dare anyone disagree with a Republican!!

Rank and file Republicans – our neighbors, co workers – are too afraid to stand up to this extremism so congratulations!

This is the ‘new’ Republican Party and it’s all yours!

‘When Wendy Davis made her epic stand in the Texas Senate, on behalf of women across the state, in an effort to filibuster an extreme anti-abortion bill, she ruffled the feathers of each of her Republican colleagues’.

‘Now they want to punish her for standing up to them by slapping her with the $1.6 million cost of the two special legislative sessions to pass it, plus another $800,000 if a third session is needed to pass legislation that was originally supposed to be the focus of the first session. In all, the total cost could reach $2.4 million’.

‘According to the Fort Worth Star-Telegram, GOP state Rep. Giovanni Capriglione thinks Davis should have to foot the bill on behalf of Texas taxpayers, and for not allowing Republicans to run roughshod over democracy’.

“I am upset at the cost. I think we need to remember why we are having this extra special session. One state senator, in an effort to capture national attention, forced this special session. I firmly believe that Sen. Wendy Davis should reimburse the taxpayers for the entire cost of the second special session. I am sure that she has raised enough money at her Washington, D.C., fundraiser to cover the cost.”

Blog Running – ‘This Is Why Sarah Palin Wants You To Think That She’s Running For Senate’

sarah palin4

Show Sarah the Money!!!!!

‘For the past several weeks, former vice-presidential nominee Sarah Palin has been hinting at a run for Senate in her former home state of Alaska. Now, thanks to a recent Federal Election Commission filing, we know why’.

‘Palin’s political action committee, SarahPAC, raised just $460,536 in the first half of 2013. That number falls far short of SarahPAC’s totals for the first halves of 2011 and 2012, when the PAC raised roughly $1.2 million and $1.7 million, respectively’.

‘In the first six months of 2013, SarahPAC spent $496,505.68, almost $36,000 more than it brought in’.

‘Furthermore, as Matt Berman points out at National Journal, the PAC’s spending pattern raises some serious questions’.

‘According to the FEC filing, the PAC donated just $5,000 to political candidates in 2013 — all of it going to Rep. Jason Smith (R-MO). The rest of the money went to expenses and consulting fees, including at least $11,500 a month to PAC spokesman/treasurer Timothy Crawford’.

‘So the next time you hear Sarah Palin feigning interest in running for Alaska’s Senate seat in 2014, you won’t have to ask yourself why she would enter a race she’s almost certain to lose’.

‘Or why a self-declared “maverick” would want to join a body governed largely by seniority and a complicated system of unwritten rules’.

‘Or why a woman who knows very little about laws would want to write them’.

‘Or why an Arizona resident would run for Senate more than 3,500 miles from her home’.

‘Or why, after failing to complete four years as governor, Palin would seek a six-year term in Washington’.

‘Simply remember that paying the consultants that she claims to hate so much, and flying around the country waving around a Big Gulp, isn’t cheap’.

‘And as Palin proved back in 2011, nothing jumpstarts fundraising efforts quite like a fake run for federal office’.

teabagger Alert!! – Stories From The Fringe Freaks – ‘Washington Legislator Calls For Tea Party To Stockpile Ammunition For Dystopic Future’

Matt Shea

Sadly, Matt Shea is from my district and he IS the ‘New’ Republican Party spreading FearHate and Loathing!!

‘At a Tea Party “Self Reliance Rally” in Idaho, organized by the Oath Keepers, Washington State Rep. Matt Shea (R) reportedly warned survivalist attendees to stockpile ammo, practice shooting, and learn defense tactics to prepare for a massive economic collapse’.

‘According to the Coeur d’Alene Press, Shea — an Assistant Republican Floor Leader — told the crowd to be ready for an impending government takeover after the U.S. economy falls apart’:

“We need to prepare for the inevitable collapse that is going to happen. You know it’s going to happen. That’s right, I am a politician and I am standing up here and saying that. … When it happens, we need to look at this as a opportunity, not a crisis. Who’s job is liberty? That’s our job”.

‘Shea proposed a bill last February to ban the U.S. dollar, headed one of his state’s anti-marriage equality organizations, and has claimed that the Federal Emergency Management Agency operates concentration camps in the U.S’.

Stories From The Fringe Freaks – ‘The “anti-God” party…You can’t be a Christian and a Democrat at the same time, Virginia’s GOP candidate for lieutenant governor says’

E W jackson1

E W jackson

E W Jackson2

This is the ‘new’ Republican Party.

‘In a local radio interview this morning, Virginia Republican lieutenant governor nominee E.W. Jackson said the Democratic Party is “anti-God” and that Christians should leave it’.

‘Jackson has said in the past that he thinks believing in God and voting Democratic are fundamentally incompatible, so WLEE host Jack Gravely asked if he still believes it. Gravely explained that he’s a Christian and tends to vote Democratic, just like his parents and family. Jackson didn’t back down’.

“You are saying for us, we’re all wrong, leave that party. And all I’m saying to you is, if you said it before, you still have to believe it, why did you say it?” Gravely asked. “Oh, oh, oh I do believe it,” Jackson responded’.

‘He continued: “I said it because I believe that the Democrat Party has become an anti-God party, I think it’s an anti-life party, I think it’s an anti-family party. And these are all things I think Christians hold to very dearly.”
