One Man’s trash – ‘Montana Looks at Allowing Roadkill for Dinner’

road kill

Probably the less I say the better I’ll stand with my neioghbors to the east.

HELENA, Mont. (AP) — ‘Elk, deer, antelope and moose: If Montana residents can scrape it up, they can eat it’.

‘State lawmakers are poised to say just that after the Senate gave its initial backing Wednesday to a bill that would allow people to salvage roadkill for food’.

‘The measure is now a final vote from heading to Gov. Steve Bullock’.

‘It makes no sense to let the carcasses of big-game go to waste on Montana’s roadways, supporters said’.

“It really is a sin to waste a good meat,” said state Sen. Larry Jent, D-Bozeman’.

‘The measure calls for law-enforcement officers to issue permits to individuals who would be allowed to remove the carcasses of elk, deer, antelope and moose off the state’s roadways’.

‘An earlier version would have allowed fur-bearing animals, upland game birds and migratory game birds to be scraped up, too, but it got canned’.

‘Opponents question whether the meat would be safe and whether it would create liability issues for food banks that accept it’.

‘Sen. Kendall Van Dyk, D-Billings, said law-enforcement officers are not qualified to decide whether roadkill is safe to eat’.

Republicans – “We have out of control spending”.

spending problem

No.

We don’t.

It’s actually very much under control.

The problem we have is that Republicans want to take money from the poor and elderly (entitlements) to pay for tax cuts to the wealthy so that that will ‘trickle down’ and ‘create jobs’.

– ‘Jared Bernstein provides the following chart from Congressional Budget Office data showing that between 2009 and 2013 federal government spending actually shrunk as a percentage of GDP (in red) and has only increased 0.6% in dollars (in blue)’.

“I think those two lines partially explain why this recovery has been such a slog: we hit back hard against the recession in 2009 and GDP started growing in real terms shortly thereafter. But we stopped too soon, certainly before the recovery reached most households.”

Why it’s called the ‘Stupid Party’ – The GOP “Show Your Papers To Pee Party” – Arizona Lawmaker Introduces Bill To Prosecute Transgender People Who Use The ‘Wrong’ Bathroom’

stupid laws

A couple of things……

First, just who is going to be in ‘charge’ of checking?

Wouldn’t that in itself constitute being a ‘peeping tom’?

Which follows of course that this legislation is from the party that wants ‘smaller government’. You know, a ‘government’ that stays out of our lives.
Checking to see what sex someone is – is NOT staying out of my life.

And finally, this is really a a stupid piece of legislation showing that we have finally reached the breakdown of our society if someone has to show their birth certificate just to go to the bathroom.

‘Last month, the City Council of Phoenix, Arizona passed sweeping nondiscrimination protections, ensuring that people have equal access to employment, housing, and public accommodations regardless of their sexual orientation or gender identity’.

‘One state lawmaker, Rep. John Kavanagh (R) is not pleased that transgender people will be protected when using the correct bathroom, and so he has introduced a new bill to ban them from doing just that’.

‘Kavanagh gutted a Senate Bill about a Massage Therapy Board to use as a shell for his new amendment, which prohibits a person from entering a “public restroom, bathroom, shower, bath, dressing room, or locker room” if the sex designation of that facility does not match the individual’s birth certificate’.

‘He defended his “show your papers to pee” bill in an interview with 12 News Phoenix’ :

KAVANAGH: “The city of Phoenix has crafted a bill that allows people to define their sex by what they think in their head. If you’re a male, you don’t go into a female shower or locker room, or vice versa. It also raises the specter of people who want to go into those opposite sex facilities not because they’re transgender, but because they’re weird”.

Why it’s called the ‘Stupid Party’ – ‘One Day After RNC Calls For Minority Outreach, Arkansas GOP Passes Bill To Suppress Minority Vote’

voter fraud1

I’m guessing that none of that $10 Million dollars the RNC will spend on ‘Community Out Reach’ will be spent in Arkansas.

‘Monday morning, the Republican National Committee released a lengthy “autopsy” of their 2012 electoral loss, much of which was devoted to the GOP’s weak standing among people of color’.

“The Republican Party must be committed to building a lasting relationship within the African American community year-round, based on mutual respect and with a spirit of caring.”

‘One day later, Arkansas Republicans showed their mutual respect and spirit of caring for people of color by passing a law that will keep many of them from casting a vote’.

‘Yesterday, the Arkansas Senate passed — on an entirely party-line vote — a so-called voter ID law requiring voters to show photo identification before they can cast a ballot’.

‘These laws, which are popular among Republican lawmakers, accomplish little more than disenfranchisement’.

‘Even conservative estimates suggest that these laws will prevent 2 to 3 percent of registered voters from casting a ballot. And this impact is felt hardest by low-income voters, students and people of color — all of who tend to prefer Democrats to Republicans’.

‘The most common argument raised in favor of voter ID laws is that they prevent in-person voter fraud, but this claim cannot be squared with reality’.

‘A person is more likely to be struck by lightning than to commit fraud at the polls’.

‘A Wisconsin study found that only 0.00023 percent of votes are the product of such fraud’.

‘So voter ID laws disenfranchise a large chunk of voters — between 2 and 9 percent, according to different reports on their effect — in order to prevent a virtually non-existent form of voter fraud’.
