Sunday picks – ‘There’s always next year’

football9

I came 2 field goals away from having a great weekend. Oh well.
I think Seattle, San Fran and St Louis will dominate the NFC for the next 10 years. All have greast QB’s and fairly young teams. Keep rotating running backs and they should be all at or near the top every year.

Peyton is the 3rd QB to try to get to the Super Bowl with a different team. Kurt Warner is ther only one to do it and came 1 pass away from doing it.

Regular season
Total 154 – 100

Stories From The Fringe : ‘Sen. Rand Paul: Build Iron Dome Over White House, Capitol, Key Cities’

rand paul iron dome

Because Canada keeps trying to bomb us.

‘Sen. Rand Paul says The White House, Capitol buildings, and key U.S. cities should build their own versions of Israel’s Iron Dome to defend them from missile attacks, BuzzFeed reports’.

“I saw presentations of the Iron Dome and it was very impressive … [I am] absolutely in favor of it,” Paul told reporters in a conference call after touring Israel and Jordan’.

“There’s no reason why our White House, our Capitol, and major cities shouldn’t have missile defense.’

What is wrong with the Republican Party – ‘GOP pollster: Stop talking about rape’

rape is rape1

Dusting off my very best Captain Jack Sparrow – “WHAT”??

Captain Jack Sparrow

Why not just educate the Republican Representatives instead of having them spout idiotic ideas :

‘Former Rep. Todd Akin (R-Mo.) said a woman could terminate a pregnancy resulting from a “legitimate rape.”

‘Richard Mourdock, who lost his race for a Senate seat in Indiana, said babies resulting from rape were a “gift from God.”

‘Rep. Phil Gingrey (R-Ga.) — an OB-GYN since 1975 and co-chairman of the House GOP Doctors Caucus — commented that Akin was “partly right” in saying that female rape victims have a way of shutting down the body during “legitimate rape” that will prevent pregnancy’.

WILLIAMSBURG, Va. — ‘It’s way past time: House Republicans need to stop talking about rape’.

‘That’s the message GOP lawmakers got here Wednesday evening from Kellyanne Conway, a top GOP pollster’.

‘Conway dispensed the stern advice as part of a polling presentation she made alongside fellow GOP pollsters David Winston — an adviser to House Speaker John Boehner (R-Ohio) — and Dave Sackett. The comment was described by several sources in the room’.

‘Conway said rape is a “four-letter word,” and Republicans simply need to stop talking about it in their races for office’.

What is wrong with the Republican Party – ‘Republican retreat kicks off with a rocky start’

owning slaves

‘After a tough election season and an equally tough lame duck session of Congress, House Republicans are regrouping at a image makeover retreat in Williamsburg, Va. this week’.

‘But it’s not looking so good’.

‘Reporters quickly noted that a session for lawmakers called “Discussion on Successful Communication with Minorities and Women” will actually take place in the “Burwell Plantation” room at the resort where the retreat is being held’.

‘It turns out, according to NBC News, the room “is named after the Burwell Family, a wealthy family that owned many slaves in 18th century Southern Virginia.”

‘CONSPIRACY THEORIES PROSPER’

conspiracy theories2

‘Generally, the more people know about current events, the less likely they are to believe in conspiracy theories – but not among Republicans, where more knowledge leads to greater belief in political conspiracies’.

‘In the poll, respondents were asked a series of four questions about currentevents, and respondents who were able to answer more questions correctly were less likely to endorse the conspiracy theories’.

‘Fifteen percent of people who got none of the questions right thought that three or four of the conspiracies were likely, compared to three percent of those who answered three or four correctly’.

‘Education also tended to reduce belief in the conspiracytheories. However, the relationship between current events knowledge and belief in conspiracytheories is conditional on partisanship’.

‘Among Democrats, each question answered correctly reduces the likelihood of endorsing at least one of the conspiracy theories by seven points’.

‘Among independents, each additional question reduces it by two points’.

‘For Republicans, though, each additional question answered correctly tends to increase belief in at least one of thetheories by two points’.

“There are several possible explanations for this,” said Cassino. “It could be that more conspiracy-minded Republicans seek out more information, or that the information some Republicans seek out just tends to reinforce these myths.”

“Groups that feelmore distanced from the political process are more likely to believe thatsinister forces are at work,” said Cassino. “These figures tell us more about a lack of trust in the political process than acceptance of particular conspiracies.”

Blog Running – ‘What kind of nazi, commie tyrant would do a photo op with kids’?

gun contgrol

Great stuff to ‘in your face’ to tea baggers by John Aravosis
over at America Blog :

‘Right-wingers like Matt Drudge and Michelle Malkin are
terribly upset that President Obama had children at a photo
opp yesterday about gun violence in America’.

‘In fact, the President was joined by four children who wrote
him letters after Sandy Hook, so they were relevant to the
event’:

‘Malkin called the photo opp “child abuse.” Whereas Drudge
likened it to Hitler and Stalin using children as props in
photos and drawings. Drudge even showed images of Hitler and
Stalin with kids to get the point across’.

kids3

‘Which got me wondering: What other nazi tyrants used
children as props in presidential photo opps’?
