What is wrong with the Republican Party – ‘Paul Ryan signs on as cosponsor of new ‘fetal personhood’ bill’

And this is from a Party and a person that is so against Government intruding in our lives…..

‘Rep. Paul Ryan (R-WI), erstwhile vice presidential candidate in the failed presidential run of former Gov. Mitt Romney (R-MA), has signed on as cosponsor in a draconian new bill aimed at curtailing women’s reproductive freedoms’.

‘According to Huffington Post, in spite of the defeat of so-called “fetal personhood” laws in 2012, Ryan and his colleagues are forging ahead with a new measure that classifies all embryonic tissue as a human life from the moment of fertilization’.

‘Ryan and Georgia Congressman Rep. Paul Broun — who gained notoriety in 2011 when video surfaced of him calling scientific facts “lies from the pit of Hell” — cosponsored the bill, which is called the Sanctity of Human Life Act’.

‘Broun first introduced the measure in 2011, but Ryan re-introduced it on the Hill last week’.

‘The measure specifies that a “one-cell human embryo,” even before it has implanted itself in the uterine wall and resulted in a pregnancy, should be granted “all the legal and constitutional attributes and privileges of personhood.”

A little sanity (like that’s going to happen) to the gun control debate – ‘What Crazy Fascist Executive Orders Might Obama Use to Take Away Your Freedoms’?

I think Biden made the comment just to see the reaction.

I enjoy watching the fringe froth at the mouth.

‘The story behind the image: an item about Joe Biden mentioning possible “executives orders, there’s executive action that can be taken” on guns’.

‘For someone who’s spent so much time on gun legislation, Biden’s awfully ignorant of the terms that drive Second Amendment defenders crazy. Their natural conclusion: Obama will use executive orders to ban guns’!
‘A problem: Obama can’t actually do that’.

‘The big priorities of the gun control movement — background checks, magazine size limits, an assault weapons ban — all require action from Congress’.

‘According to Mayors Against Illegal Guns (which has recently overtaken the Brady campaign as the organization most despised by the gun lobby), the executive branch would be limited to a few tweaks of current law. Their current pitch mentions three of them’:

– ‘Directing the DOJ to prosecute more “prohibited purchasers” when they attempt to buy guns. In 2009, the FBI referred 71,000 cases of thse buyers, mostly felons. U.S. attorneys prosecuted only 77 cases’.

– ‘Appointing a permanent ATF director. The ATF has spooked the right ever since Ruby Ridge (before, too, but that’s when the real agita started), and the Senate hasn’t confirmed a permanent director since 2006’.

– ‘Requiring federal agencies to report mental health records. The NICS Improvement Act of 2007, passed after the Virginia Tech shootings, requires this. It hardly ever happens’.
