The Fox Lies #1 – ‘Inmates using newspaper’s gun owner map to threaten guards, sheriff says’

fox lies1

The lies of ommission. This is what FOX has become an expert at.

(cough) ‘Reporting’ but leaving out just a few ‘details’ that if you knew them, would dramaticly change your opinion.

First a question.

The gun advocate arguement is that if ‘criminals’ know I have a gun, they’ll leave me alone.

That IS the Number #1 agruement for gun ownership.

Protection. The gun acting as a deterrent.

So why all of a sudden is having their addresses bad?

Shouldn’t the ‘criminals’ all be avoiding their homes?

Anyway when I first started following this story, being a journalist it made me livid.

There are certain unwritten lines you don’t cross.

You don’t expose the innocent.

Just owning a gun does not make you guilty.

But that extremely poor judgement, unleashed the fringe right wing gun nuts.

A blogger posted ALL the names and address of EVERYONE working for the Journal.

Even the janitors.

The threats the guards have received don’t come anywhere close to the threats (and the intense level) the employees of the Journal have receieved.

‘Law enforcement officials from a New York region where a local paper published a map identifying gun owners say prisoners are using the information to intimidate guards’.

‘Rockland County Sheriff Louis Falco, who spoke at a news conference flanked by other county officials, said the Journal News’ decision to post an online map of names and addresses of handgun owners Dec. 23 has put law enforcement officers in danger’.

“They have inmates coming up to them and telling them exactly where they live. That’s not acceptable to me,” Falco said, according to Newsday’.

‘Local lawmakers also say that they intend to introduce legislation that prevents information about legal gun owners from being released to the public’.

‘Blogger posts names and addresses of New York newspaper staff in retaliation against paper’s published map of local gun permit holders’

‘A blogger has retaliated against a New York newspaper for publishing an interactive map of gun permit holders by posting personal information about the paper’s employees’.

‘Blogger Christopher Fountain, who primarily covers real estate news on his blog, ‘For What It’s Worth,’ published the names, home addresses, phone numbers, e-mail addresses, Facebook pages and twitter handles of nearly every Journal News employee on Wednesday’.

‘The move was in retaliation against the newspaper’s decision to publish the names and addresses of gun permit holders in Westchester and Rockland counties’.

‘Miss Royle’s married name is Lambert,’ Fountain wrote of Journal News Editor Cyndee Royle. ‘She lives in White Plains and here is her Facebook page complete with pictures of her and her kids. Hello Sanctimony.’
