But it’s NOT Republican Obstructionism – ‘Barney Frank: In Crisis Time, Dems Worked With Bush – But GOP Shunned Obama’

‘Appearing on CNN during the opening night of the Democratic convention, retiring longtime Rep. Barney Frank (D-MA) argued that his party was willing to help President Bush weather the 2008 economic crisis — unlike Republicans, who he said refused to lift a finger to assist President Obama when he needed them’.

“Unfortunately, from the very beginning — look, look at the contrast. George Bush came to us on the Democratic side in late ’08 and said, we’re in a crisis, we need your help — and we gave it to him, very openly, very fully. Then Obama comes in to try to deal with the terrible situation he inherited from bush and the republican media went into full partisan attack. [Senate Republican Leader] Mitch McConnell announcing his number one goal was to defeat the president. I don’t think in the end the timing, unfortunately, would have helped a great deal.”

But it’s NOT Republican Obstructionism – ‘Ohio Secretary of State Refuses To Comply With Early Voting Court Order’

Yeah. Expanding the hours – BACK TO THE ORIGINAL HOURS – will only ‘confuse voters’.

Republican Ohio Secretary of State Jon Husted – protecting America from all that voter fraud!

Come on America! Vote these Republicans in so they can ‘take back America’ – for themselves!

‘Jon Husted, Republican Secretary of State in Ohio, is refusing to change his restrictive early voting schedule even after a federal court restored in-person early voting to all Ohioans during the three day period before the general election. Husted claims expanding hours before an appeals court hears his case will “only serve to confuse voters.” Husted first restricted the voting hours in Democratic-leaning urban counties to weekdays only, then restricted all counties’ voting schedules after complaints of unfairness. In spite of several counties’ requests to stay open on weekends, when most employed people have time to vote, Husted has flatly refused to accommodate them’.

Will You Be Better Off? – ‘Hank Williams Jr: Obama ‘Loves Gays’, ‘We Hate Him’

This IS the face of the ‘new’ Republican Party.

It’s not some ‘fringe element’ anymore. This is the minority that FOX loves to show because the majority of Republicans are too afraid to speak out against it.

Which Republican are you?

The one who calls the President a Muslim?

Or the one who’s too afraid to speak up?

Tell me how we are going to be better off electing people that cater to this?

KHQ.COM (AP) – ‘Hank Williams Jr. repeated his anti-Obama tirade at a concert in Texas on Sunday. Performing at the Stockyards Music Festival, the country singer went on an extended rant against the president’.

“We’ve got a Muslim for a President who hates cowboys, hates cowgirls, hates fishing, hates farming, loves gays, and we hate him,” Williams Jr. bellowed. As the Dallas Sun reported, the crowd responded with a loud cheer’.

‘This is the second time in recent weeks the singer has used heated language when describing his distaste for the president. A late August concert featured Williams Jr. doing the same bit, though the dig at homosexuals appears to be a new addition to his schtick’.

‘In October 2011, the singer went on “Fox and Friends” to liken the president to Hitler’.

‘His comments put him squarely in the company of Ted Nugent, another singer known for lambasting the president without a particular regard for temperance’.

‘Kennedy Destroys Romney In 1994 Debate’

A very good preview of the upcoming Presidential Debates.

Come on Mitt. Tell just one lie and watch President Obama call you out just as Senator Kennedy did.

‘Deval Patrick It’s Time For Democrats To Grow A Backbone’

Will Rogers said it best, we Democrats don’t belong to an organized political party. But we’d BETTER get organized and we’d BETTER get excited and get others excited.

The alternative is the ‘new’ Republican party in the White House, the House and the Senate.

Think about that when you think or say Obama didn’t do enough.

What is Mitt Romney Hiding – ‘Mitt Romney exited Bain Capital with rare tax benefits in retirement’

One set of rules for ‘them’, the wealthy entitled and another set of rules for us, the middle class.

Come on America! Vote the Republicans in so they can take even better advantage of ‘special’ tax codes!

‘Details of Romney’s retirement assets are somewhat vague because he has released only one year of full tax returns and declined to provide additional specifics about his personal finances’.

‘But interviews with Bain executives and accounting professionals show that he was able to take advantage of tax benefits in innovative ways open only to a narrow slice of extremely affluent people — mostly those who work in private-equity firms and other investment partnerships’.

‘As a result, his IRA could be worth as much as $87 million, according to his estimates, and he can continue to earn tax-advantaged income from Bain more than a decade after he formally left the firm’.

‘His severance package, for instance, allowed him to continue sharing in the profits of the company as if he were still a partner managing it, according to his 2010 tax return and interviews with present and former Bain executives’.

‘And because he benefited from the firm’s investments as if he were an active Bain partner, he paid taxes at a lower rate on these earnings than if they were treated as ordinary retirement income’.

Sunday Picks on a Wednesday

In reality I’ll most likely end up only watching 4 or 5 games all year.

I haven’t watched a Super Bowl in over 15 years.

Football is not a sport it’s entertainment. And an entertainment that has become less and less ‘entertaining’ over the years.

So it has become to me a distraction or maybe a challenge.

But here’s the first week of my annual ‘Sunday Picks’.

Dal v. NYG  -NYG

‘Game Of The Week’

Wednesday Sept 5th

Dallas at New York Giants – Pick – NY Giants
I still think Dallas has the wrong QB. Time will tell but if they are 4-4 by mid-season (or worse), there will be a head coach change and with that a QB change.
The Giants are more focused. Going 7-7 and then ripping off 6 straight to win the Super Bowl is a lesson they learned very well.

Seattle at Arizona – Pick – Seattle
Seattle FINALLY after 4 years has 2 (count them), two QB’s.That alone won’t win games but they have also added to the defense and the O-line. Don’t look for Wilson to go the whole year but with Flynn as back up? He’d start in 90% of the teams.
Ari is STILL trying to pick their QB.

Indy at Chicago Pick – Chicago
Good ‘luck’ (GRINS!) to Indy but Chicago with a healthy Cutler will be the same Chicago as last year until he was hurt.
In fact, Chicago WILL give Green Bay a hard run.

Buffalo at NY Jets – Pick – Buffao
Either get rid of Sanchez or get rid of Tebow. I’d get rid of Tebow. But until they get rid and decide on THE QB, they’ll at best finish 3rd.
Buffalo made some GREAT moves off season and while they won’t beat New Eng., they will beat the rest of the Division.

Jacksonville at Minnesota – Pick – Jacksonville
Maurice will play but no ‘deal’. Their QB Gabbert is the wild card. Minn. is so bad this should be an easy win for the Jags.

Phily at Cleveland – Pick – Phily
This is an easy pick but only because Phily couldn’t find a worse team to open the season with.
Vick, when healthy, is a very good QB. When’s he’s hurt (most of the time), he’s NOT a very good QB.

Miami at Houston – Pick – Houston
THis could be a very bad game for Miami.

Pittsburg at Denver – Pick – Pittsburg
Just don’t get hurt Peyton.

New England at Tennessee – Pick -New England
No brainer. Grest test for Locker. Miss ya Matt!

Washington at New Orleans – Pick – New Orleans
RG3 has looked ‘good’ but against the Saints? Brees is looking for Super Bowl and MVP to offset the ‘scandal’.

Atlanta at KC – Pick – KC
This is my ‘Upset Of The Week’.
Atlanta has a new offence but KC has all the healthy parts from last year.

St. Louis at Detroit – Pick – St Louis
Fisher makes them a much better physical team and they protect Bradford.
Detroit? Too many on and off field distractions.

San Fran at Green Bay – Pick – Green Bay
“Game Of The Week’!
I give it to GB because of home field.

Carolina at Tampa – Pick – Carolina
If Carolina CAN’T beat Tampa?

Monday Sept 10th

Cinci at Baltimore – Pick – Baltimore
Youth might make you go longer but in the first game of the season? Baltimore’s experience will give them the win.

San Diego at Oakland – Pick – Oakland
Oakland runs the ball, Rivers runs for his life.

‘Strickland: “Mitt Romney Has So Little Economic Patriotism That Even His Money Needs A Passport”

THIS is what the Democrats came to hear……

CHARLOTTE, N.C. —’Former Ohio Gov. Ted Strickland launched into a brutal assault on Mitt Romney Tuesday night on the opening night of the Democratic Convention, branding him as rich and out of touch’.

“If Mitt was Santa Claus, he’d fire the reindeer and outsource the elves,” he shouted, as he shouted his entire speech’.

“Mitt Romney has so little economic patriotism that even his money needs a passport,” he added, in a series of one-liners designed to fire up the Democratic base. “It summers on the beaches of the Cayman Islands, and winters on the slopes of the Swiss Alps.”

“Barack Obama is betting on the American worker,” Strickland added. “Mitt Romney is betting on a Bermuda shell corporation. Barack Obama saved the American auto industry. Mitt Romney saved on his taxes.”
