What is Mitt Romney Hiding? – ‘Romney: Releasing tax returns would violate my religious privacy’

Hauling out my very, very best Captain Jack Sparrow……WHAT!?!

So now after releasing a part (including you contributions) of your tax returns for 1 year, you don’t want to release any more because you don’t WANT your contributions known.

Well even now that the ‘horse is out of the barn’, how about you black out your ‘contributions’ and give us the rest of your tax returns.

Mitt Romney –
“Our church doesn’t publish how much people have given,” Romney tells Parade magazine in an edition due out Sunday. “This is done entirely privately. One of the downsides of releasing one’s financial information is that this is now all public, but we had never intended our contributions to be known. It’s a very personal thing between ourselves and our commitment to our God and to our church.”

‘There are a number of problems with this explanation. For instance, as Steve Benen notes, we already know how much he’s given to the Mormon church in at least one year, the one for which he did make his returns available. Alex Seitz Wald, meanwhile, points out that this didn’t stop Romney’s father from releasing a dozen years of tax returns, which detailed how much he’d given to the church’.

  1. Mr. Romney has few topics about which he can talk. One by one, the substantive topics for debate are disappearing, deemed too problematic for the Romney campaign to address. Business acumen, experience as governor, US Olympics, Romney budget, women’s issues, immigration reform, all toxic. Mr. Romney is reduced to dragging out the birther baggage to pad his stump speeches and give his base a few crumbs. And to call attention away from his flip-flopping on all important issues.

But what is the single issue on which Mr. Romney has never flip-flopped? He stands doggedly firm on never, under any circumstances, releasing his tax returns.

It is not just liberals who want to see Romney’s tax returns.
It is 63% of American voters who do.

The longer Mr. Romney delays, the more suspicious it appears.

Obama released 8 years of tax returns
    GW Bush 10 years
    Clinton 12 years
    GHW Bush 14 years
    George Romney 12 years.

    What is there to hide?
Release the tax returns, Mr. Romney.

His contributions are a head fake argument, and we all know that, and he knows we know that.
