‘GOP Announces Convention Theme “We Built This” In Stadium Built With 62% Government Funds’

‘Apparently rejecting a more controversial “You Didn’t Really Get Raped, Pregnant Lady” theme for its 2012 convention, the GOP has announced that its Tuesday night session will be themed “We Built This!”

‘The sentiment serves as both a celebration of American entrepreneurship and an attack on President Obama’s previous comments to business owners. President Obama received criticism over his remark, “Somebody helped to create this unbelievable American system that we have that allowed you [business owners] to thrive. Somebody invested in roads and bridges. If you’ve got a business — you didn’t build that. Somebody else made that happen.”

‘However’

‘the stadium where the GOP will be announcing “We Built This!” was financed primarily by the government’.

‘The Tampa Bay Times Forum arena, which houses the Tampa Bay Lightning, was built in 1996 as the “Ice Palace” with 62% government funds’.

Romney – Believe in America

But what does Mitt Romney believe in?

Who will he stand up to?

Is this real leadership?

Do we really want 4 years of this?

Blog Running – ‘Why Akin Matters’

By Joe Klein
‘We now have Representative Steve King (R-Ostrich) saying that he never heard of a girl getting pregnant because of statutory rape or incest. He thus joins Rep. Todd Akin (R-Clueless) among the ranks of blithering idiots saying incredibly uninformed and disgraceful things about the crime of rape. It might be argued that these are isolated cases of stupidity. That might even be sort of true. The leaders of the Republican Party have jumped with alacrity to defenestrate Akin’.

‘But I believe the Akin-King statements and, indeed, the Akin abortion amendment that Paul Ryan supported (and which made a distinction between “forcible” and other sorts of rape) point to a larger Republican problem: it has become a party that, at the grass roots, celebrates ignorance’.

‘The Republicans, by contrast, seem in the midst of falling through a spider hole, away from facts and reality, into a past where “reality” was determined by faith and fear, before the scientific method was invented. There are some honest voices–like Jon Huntsman who, in the primaries, defended evolution and acknowledged climate change (Mitt Romney also said he believed evolution was God’s plan; I agree with that). But you saw how well Huntsman did in the primaries–and you’ve seen how far Romney has had to tack toward silliness to win the nomination’.

‘In the end, Todd Akin is not an outlier. He is a symptom of the disease’.

A ‘Conservative’ vision for America – ‘John Boehner: ‘This is the people’s House’

‘And among those who are aware, the idea (Medicare reform) remains unpopular; by a 49% to 34% margin more oppose than favor the idea’.

“The people voted to end business as usual, and today we begin to carry out their instructions,” said Boehner’.

‘House Passes Paul Ryan Budget, Would Reform Medicare’

‘Paul Ryan’s selection to the Republican ticket has put the issue of Medicare squarely on the 2012 campaign agenda’.

‘And the latest Pew Research Center survey continues to find the public is aware of a proposal to gradually shift Medicare to a system of vouchers and is, on balance, more opposed than supportive of the idea’.

‘And among those who are aware, the idea remains unpopular; by a 49% to 34% margin more oppose than favor the idea. This is virtually unchanged from public reactions a little over a year ago, when Republicans in the House voted in favor of this proposal as part of the “Ryan plan.”

A ‘Conservative’ vision for America – ‘Paul Ryan Co-Sponsored ‘Forcible Rape’ Bill Last Year with Missouri Tea Party Senate Candidate Rep. Todd ‘Legitimate Rape’ Akin

Come on America.

Vote Romney/Ryan.

The Grand Old Party doesn’t want to take us BACKWARD to a ‘dark age’.

No!

They want to move us FORWARD to a ‘new’ Republican Dark Age.
‘Republican vice presidential candidate Paul Ryan co-sponsored the bill with Akin last year that introduced the term “forcible rape” into the political lexicon’:

‘Under H.R. 3, only victims of “forcible rape” would qualify for federally funded abortions. Victims of statutory rape—say, a 13-year-old girl impregnated by a 30-year-old man—would be on their own’.

A ‘Conservative’ vision for America – ‘Rep. Steve King: I’ve Never Heard Of A Girl Getting Pregnant From Statutory Rape Or Incest’

‘King told an Iowa reporter he’s never heard of a child getting pregnant from statutory rape or incest.

“Well I just haven’t heard of that being a circumstance that’s been brought to me in any personal way,” King told KMEG-TV Monday, “and I’d be open to discussion about that subject matter.”

Let’s be absolutely clear about exactly what Rep. Todd Akin said :
“First of all, from what I understand from doctors, (pregnancy from rape) is really rare,” Akin told KTVI-TV in a clip posted to YouTube by the Democratic super PAC American Bridge. “If it’s a legitimate rape, the female body has ways to try to shut that whole thing down.”
From : http://www.washingtonpost.com/blogs/the-fix/wp/2012/08/19/todd-akin-gop-senate-candidate-legitimate-rape-rarely-causes-pregnancy/

And now. ‘Legitimate’ was NOT about the rapist. It WASN’T even about the act of RAPE.

No.

‘Ligitimate’ refered to all the false claims of rape by women.

AKIN: “You know, Dr. Willke has just released a statement and part of his letter, I think he just stated it very clearly. He said, of course Akin never used the word legitimate to refer to the rapist, but to false claims like those made in Roe v. Wade and I think that simplifies it….. There isn’t any legitimate rapist…. [I was] making the point that there were people who use false claims, like those that basically created Roe v. Wade”.
