Wallbuilders – ‘‘Historian’ David Barton’s book on Thomas Jefferson pulled from stores’

I recently had an exchange from another ‘Conservstive’ blogger over my post on Paul Ryan on the Constitution.
In the last exchange she suggested that if I wanted to know the real truth of America’s history, I should go to Wallbuilers.

After I stopped laughing…

‘David Barton, an evangelical activist and writer often cited as a “historian” by conservative political figures like former House Speaker Newt Gingrich (R-GA) and former Arkansas Gov. Mike Huckabee, stirred up such a firestorm of controversy with his latest book “The Jefferson Lies” that his publisher now claims to have “lost confidence” in the text, opting Thursday evening to pull it from stores’.

‘The announcement by Christian mega-publisher Thomas Nelson comes after readers of The History News Network at George Mason University elected Barton’s latest work as “the least credible history book in print.” It was also challenged by an assemblage of “10 conservative Christian professors” in the recently released book, “Getting Jefferson Right,” which accuses Barton of grossly misrepresenting the nation’s third president’.

What is Mitt Romney Hiding? – ‘Obama campaign offers Romney 5-year tax disclosure’

Does Mitt Romney just not trust Americans?

‘63% of Americans Demand That Mitt Romney Release His Tax Returns’
@ :

GREENVILLE, S.C. (AP) – ‘Barack Obama’s re-election campaign kept up pressure against Republican rival Mitt Romney on two fronts Friday, launching a new ad defending the president’s record on Medicare while challenging Romney to release at least five years of tax returns’.

‘Obama campaign manager Jim Messina made the tax-disclosure offer to Romney campaign manager Matt Rhoades in a letter Friday morning. Messina said he was taking the step because Romney “apparently fears the more he offers, the more our campaign will demand that he provide.”Romney’s wife, Ann, has repeatedly stated that concern in interviews, arguing that the more the couple releases, the more questions are asked’.

Romney’s response :
‘”Thanks for the note. It is clear that President Obama wants nothing more than to talk about Governor Romney’s tax returns instead of the issues that matter to voters, like putting Americans back to work, fixing the economy and reining in spending,” he wrote. “If Governor Romney’s tax returns are the core message of your campaign, there will be ample time for President Obama to discuss them over the next 81 days.”

Mitt Romney’s vision for America – ‘Romney’s plan for young people: ‘Borrow money if you have to from your parents’

‘Families often pull together to help finance a college education, with parents and grandparents chipping in or co-signing loans. And now, a SmartMoney report finds the U.S. government withholding money from Social Security recipients who’ve stopped paying on federal student loans’.

‘And it’s an increasingly common event, as AnnaMaria Andriotis, a senior writer at SmartMoney, tells Morning Edition co-host Renee Montagne. Much of the debt stems from federal PLUS loans, taken out by older family members to help students’.

Paul Ryan Lies #2 – ‘Ryan has tough words for China, contradicting 2010 vote’

CANTON, OH — ‘In his first remarks touching foreign policy since becoming Mitt Romney’s running mate, Paul Ryan had tough words for China in this manufacturing-heavy battleground state’.

“They steal our intellectual property rights. They block access to their markets. They manipulate their currency.”

‘He continued, “President Obama promised he would stop these practices. He said he’d go to the mat with China. Instead, they’re treating him like a doormat. We’re not going to let that happen. Mitt Romney and I are going to crackdown on China cheating. We’re going to make sure that trade works for Americans.”

‘Yet there’s one hitch to Ryan’s tough words on China, especially as it relates to currency manipulation: The congressman, in 2010, voted against legislation to crack down on China’s currency manipulation’.

‘Indeed, Ryan was one of 74 Republicans who voted against this legislation that easily passed the House that year; the legislation never made it out of the Senate’.

And now (ta da) – The Paul Ryan Lies #1 – ‘Paul Ryan In 2010 Dan Rea Interview: ‘I Did Not Request Any Stimulus Money’

“No, I’m not one (of those) people who votes for something then writes to the government to ask them to send us money. I did not request any stimulus money,” Ryan responded’.

No of course you didn’t.

But wait!

What dark magic is THIS??????

‘Ryan says he did seek economic stimulus money’
@ :

Oh No! Even Worse! The evil stimulus ‘creates jobs’!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Doing my best Sheldon Cooper from Big Bang –

Oh the horror!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

‘Ryan actually says he’s “pleased” that the Obama administration had made energy conservation and reducing carbon emissions a priority, saying it will “stimulate the local economy by creating new jobs.”
@ :

BOSTON (CBS/AP) – ‘Republican vice presidential candidate Rep. Paul Ryan denied requesting stimulus money for his home state of Wisconsin in a 2010 interview on WBZ NewsRadio 1030’.

‘But months after Congress approved the nearly $800 billion package, he was trying to steer money under the program to companies in his home state’.

‘Rep. Ryan wrote letters in 2009 to Energy Secretary Steven Chu and Labor Secretary Hilda Solis seeking stimulus grant money for two Wisconsin energy conservation companies. One of those companies, the nonprofit Wisconsin Energy Conservation Corp, later received $20.3 million from the Energy Department to help homes and businesses improve energy efficiency, according to federal records’.

‘But, in a October 28, 2010 interview on WBZ NewsRadio 1030’s Nightside with Dan Rea, Ryan denied ever seeking stimulus money’.

“I assume you voted against the stimulus and I’m just curious if you accepted any money in your district,” a caller, who identified himself as Joe from Stoughton, asked’.

“No, I’m not one (of those) people who votes for something then writes to the government to ask them to send us money. I did not request any stimulus money,” Ryan responded’.

Running From Ryan – ‘Connie Mack disagrees with Ryan budget cuts to Medicare’

‘Republican Senate candidate Connie Mack says he does not fully support the Ryan budget. “I frankly think that we need to balance the budget a lot quicker than 28 years,” the Daily Caller quoted him saying in a conference call yesterday’.

‘But it was still unclear where he stands on the burning issue of moment, Medicare. Mack spokesman David James told the Buzz this afternoon that Mack disagrees with the $700 billion in Medicare “cuts” the Ryan budget includes. Mack would like cuts from other areas of government, James said’.

‘James would not say whether Mack agrees with the Ryan plan’s turning Medicare into a voucher-like program’.

“Connie has a plan which would balance the budget in less time than the Ryan plan,” James said. “And whether or not Medicare needs to be part of the solution depends on what Congress does in the future, and the ability to cut other area of the federal government instead of Medicare is addressed in Mack’s Penny Plan.”

Mitt Romney’s ‘teaching moment’ – ‘Romney Gives Medicare Lecture On Tarmac’

Oops. My bad.

HERE’S Mitt Romney’s whiteboard…

‘Mitt Romney took another crack at resetting the Medicare debate today, calling an impromptu press conference on the tarmac of a South Carolina airport. With a black marker in his hand and a whiteboard to his side, the Republican presidential candidate tried to spell out, literally, the differences between his and President Obama’s policies’.

“You’re going to have to take me over here,” Romney said, asking the cameras to track along with him as he gestured toward his handy visual aid. “As you can see, there’s no change in Medicare for seniors. None, under my plan.”

“My plan stays the same. No adjustments, no changes, no savings,” Romney said. Next generation retirees,” he added, will get “the option of having standard Medicare, a fee for service-type government run Medicare, or private run Medicare.”

The comments seemed to run counter to what he said Wednesday night, when in an interview with ABC affiliate WBAY in Wisconsin, Romney argued his and running mate Paul Ryan’s proposals for revamping Medicare are “the same, if not identical.”

“Ryan is on my ticket and we have the same plan together,” Romney said. “He and I have exactly the same policy.”

But a closer look at the numbers indicates significant differences in how the two halves of the Republican ticket would go about their reforms’.

‘First, there is the issue of the $716 billion the president’s health care law will take from Medicare to cover costs across the board. Ryan’s budget cuts the same amount from Medicare, but rather than re-investing the money, it is used – or not used – to ease the deficit’.

‘Romney is less clear about where the cuts would go, or if there would be cuts at all’.

‘But here’s the twist: Both Ryan and Obama, in backing the same cuts Romney has said he plans to “restore,” have said the reductions will be made in a way that protects beneficiaries while targeting waste, fraud, and abuse in the system’.

‘By that logic, Romney is now promising to re-introduce wasteful and fraudulently-incurred expenses’.

‘Any successful repeal of the health care law would mean the elimination of a bevy of new protections already effectively recouping record-high sums of wasted Medicare cash’.

A ‘Conservative’ vision for America – ‘Missouri’s GOP Senate Candidate Says Federal Govt Should Stop Funding School Lunches’

The ‘turn it back to the States’ mantra.

Here’s the problem.

All those States in red? Call them ‘welfare States’. They ‘receive more than a dollar back for every dollar they pay in taxes’.

So if you stop funding school lunches at the Federal level and turn it back to the States, those States that ALREADY receive more back in taxes then they pay in, CAN’T AFFORD an additional program.

And kids go hungry.

But that’s ok.

We have ‘States rights’.

‘Rep. Todd Akin (R-MO) — ‘who is running for Sen. Claire McCaskill’s (D-MO) Senate seat — told reporters on Thursday that the federal government should “end its support for school lunch programs,” suggesting that states should fund the effort’:

“There’s another good question of who should be doing that,” Akin said during the discussion with reporters. “Is that something the federal government should be doing? I answer it no — why not do it at the state level?” […]

“I am not against school lunches, but I have a question of whether or not the federal government should be doing many things it is doing, and that would be one I would take a look at.”

‘Romney Says He Paid at Least 13% in Income Taxes and 63% of Americans are ‘small minded’

And here we were worried. Mitt went back HIMSELF and checked and he did indeed pay taxes every year. Problem solved.

Lets see. John McCain can see Mitt Romney’s taxes.

Mitt Romney can see Mitt Romney’s taxes.

Mitt Romney wants to be the President of the American people.

The American people can’t see Mitt Romney’s taxes.

Got it!

‘Ann Romney Says No More Tax Returns ‘We Have Given All You People Need To Know’

And the 63% of us who DO want to see Mitt Romney’s taxes?

He says we’re ‘small minded’.

Come On America! Lets get behind this guy!

‘63% of Americans Demand That Mitt Romney Release His Tax Returns’
@ :

WASHINGTON — ‘Mitt Romney said Thursday that he paid at least 13 percent of his income in taxes each year during the past decade, again confronting a vexing issue that Democrats have used to portray him as out of touch with middle-class values’.

‘Calling the interest in his personal tax returns “small-minded” in light of the nation’s problems, Mr. Romney said that he had nonetheless examined the last 10 years of his personal tax returns’.
