‘Romney book: Britain is a tiny island that makes stuff nobody wants’

‘Mitt Romney has already gotten in a spot of trouble in London for suggesting that Britain may not be quite ready to host the Olympic Games. Romney has walked back his comments, but it’s not the first time the candidate has said some not-so-flattering things about the Sceptered Isle. In his book, No Apology, he writes’:

“England [sic] is just a small island. Its roads and houses are small. With few exceptions, it doesn’t make things that people in the rest of the world want to buy. And if it hadn’t been separated from the continent by water, it almost certainly would have been lost to Hitler’s ambitions. Yet only two lifetimes ago, Britain ruled the largest and wealthiest empire in the history of humankind. Britain controlled a quarter of the earth’s land and a quarter of the earth’s population”.

‘Its roads and houses are small? The trees probably aren’t the right height either’.

Mitt Romney Lies #48 – ‘Romney Falsely Claims Colorado Gunman Obtained Weapons Illegally’

Misinformation. Disinformation. Lies. Hiding from questions.

That’s Mitt Romney.

‘Mitt Romney revealed that he is unfamiliar with the details of the largest mass shooting in American history, during an interview with NBC’s Brian Williams’.

ROMNEY: “Well this person shouldn’t have had any kind of weapons and bombs and other devices and it was illegal for him to have many of those things already. But he had them”.

‘In fact, 24-year-old Holmes legally purchased every firearm, bullet, and piece of tactical gear that he used for the attack, according to local law enforcement. He bought most of it over the Internet. Mentally ill people are barred from purchasing firearms, but Holmes had no previous record of illness, and would not have been flagged in a background check’.

The ‘New’ Republican Party – ‘Missouri lawmaker plans AR-15 gun raffle’

JEFFERSON CITY •’ A Missouri lawmaker is drawing attention for the unfortunate timing of his gun raffle fundraiser next month’.

‘The Sunlight Foundation has posted an invitation for state Rep. John McCaherty’s Aug. 27 fundraiser, which will feature the raffle of an AR-15 rifle. Unfortunately for the High Ridge Republican, the gun is the same model as one allegedly used in last week’s shooting at a Colorado movie theater that left 12 dead and 58 injured’.

‘Tickets for McCaherty’s raffle are $25 a piece, according to an event invitation that the blog posted online. The flyer also boasts that the gun is Missouri-made and only 200 tickets will be sold’.

UPDATE: ‘Fired Up! Missouri has posted an email apparently sent by McCaherty’s campaign this afternoon in response to the raffle attention’.

‘In the email, McCaherty says that he plans to ignore media questions about the event and urges his supporters to do the same’.

“(T)he less attention we give them the quicker they move on to the next story,” the email reads. “The families affected do not need the media beating them up, or drawing out the story anymore. So please….Do not answer any questions about the event at all.”

‘He adds that the event – now dubbed a “drawing” instead of “raffle” – will go on as planned at that supporters should sell tickets for it “primarily by word of mouth.”

‘Made in China: Olympic Pin Shaped Like Mitt Romney’s Face’

I’m sure Mitt Romney will say that he’d left the Olympics BEFORE this happened. Maybe he was ‘back’ at Bain. (GRINS!)

‘Like the uniforms in 2012 and in 2002, when Mitt Romney ran the Salt Lake Olympics much of its official memorabilia was manufactured overseas, including a 9/11 commemorative pin and another fashioned in the shape of Romney’s head’.

‘When Romney’s Salt Lake Organizing Committee developed the Gateway plaza in Salt Lake City, offering patrons and residents the chance to buy bricks for $100 and have their names inscribed, the committee used granite bricks from China, despite an abundance of granite in the nearby Wasatch mountains, the Salt Lake Tribune reported at the time’.

“It’s extraordinary,” Romney told the paper, “but it’s cheaper to get it from China.”

Mitt Romney Lies #47 – ‘Romney’s ‘We Did Build This’ Events Feature Businesses Built With Government Subsidies And Contracts’

To all those small businesses that proudly yell ‘Take that Obama – We DID build OUR business’……

A quiet ‘You’re Welcome’ for the Government loans you got to help start up your business, the roads you used, the police and fire departments you use, the public schools and colleges that educated you and your employees, the public works of water, sewer and garbage you need, the……..well you get the idea. All those services you need that were BUILT by public funds.

Oh and one more quiet ‘You’re Welcome’.

From the customers who SUPPORT your business.

Or since YOU built YOUR business by YOURSELF – maybe you don’t need customers? Or loans? Or roads? Police Departments? Fire department? Schools? Water? Sewer? Garbage?

America is a ‘team sport’ (Obama and Democrats) not an individual event (Romney and Republicans).

‘Romney, ignoring the fact that he has echoed this same sentiment on multiple occasions, organized 24 “We Did Build This” events in the battleground states of Pennsylvania, Wisconsin, Virginia, Ohio, Iowa, Florida, Missouri, North Carolina, Michigan, New Hampshire, New Mexico, and Nevada. At each event, local business owners are speaking about their self-sufficiency in running a business and how government is hindering their growth’.

•’Ball Office Products hosted the “We Did Build This” event in Richmond, Virginia. The company received a loan of $635,000 through the Small Business Administration in 2012, according to The company was also awarded a lucrative $52,525 contract with the General Services Administration just a year after its founding’.

•’Midwest Tapes, a media distributor of Holland, Ohio, was showcased at a local event and received stimulus funds under the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act of 2009. Midwest Tapes has been contracted by the Department of Defense since 2008, earning a cumulative $13,659′.

•’Columbus Truck and Equipment was featured in a neighboring event and has received $6,643 in contracts with the Department of Defense’.

•’Cranston Material Handling Equipment Corporation, the owner of which spoke Wednesday morning at a campaign event in Harrisburg, Pennsylvania, has reaped a total of $61,729 in contracts with the Department of Defense and the Department of Veterans Affairs since 2007′.

•’Systems Engineering Co.The owner of Systems Engineering has received a total of $180,200 in DOD contracts, as recently as last year’.

•’Brady Industries in Las Vegas has received $54,425 in contracts with Veterans Affairs since 2009′.

•’Pennsylvania business PRL Industries Inc. received a $167,847 contract through the Department of Homeland Security for ship and boat propulsion components for the U.S. Coast Guard in August 2008. Janis Herschkowitz, who spoke on behalf of PRL, Inc. used to be a director of the National Consumer Cooperative Bank, which, defined in Herschkowitz’ own words, was created by Congress “to meet personal, social or business needs, especially in low- and moderate-income communities by forming cooperatives.”

•’An Iowa event featured Competitive Edge, Inc. which was contracted by Veterans Affairs for $3,543 to make informational refrigerator magnets’.

•’J & W Cycles of Missouri was awarded $25,808 in contracts from the DOD and Department of Interior’.

•’Total Resource, featured in a Sparks, Nevada campaign event, has been a federal contractor since 2010, and received a $11,200 contract from the DOD in 2009′.

•’Applegate Insulation, which hosted one of the events in Michigan, benefited from an energy saving federal tax credit worth 30 percent of the installation project, up to $1,500′.

•’Home Instead Senior Care supported Romney in Roanoke, Virginia, even though home health care companies receive 75 percent of their funding from public programs like Medicare and Medicaid. Home Instead franchises in Virginia have received at least $3,613,549 in federal funding through the Department of Veterans Affairs since 2008. Chris Head, who represented Home Instead at the event, has previously lamented the low Medicaid reimbursement rates in Virginia and told the Roanoke Times that he wished state funding had helped save the now-defunct local Mill Mountain Theatre’.

•’Ed Nagle of Nagle Trucking in Ohio also took issue with Obama’s speech, which mentioned roads and bridges as examples of essential government support. But less than a year ago, Nagle protested an idea to privatize the Ohio Turnpike, noting that the privatized Indiana toll road “has diminished in its quality and it’s become a lot more expensive.”

A ‘Conservative’ vision for America – ‘A whopping 43 percent of Philly voters may not have voter ID, according to new data’

Every Republican should be so proud of their party.

There ‘have been no investigations or prosecutions of in-person voter fraud in Pennsylvania’ so the GOP pass legislation that will make it hard for college students, the poor and elderly to obtain a voter ID that there seems to be no reason to have.

We NEED, I repeat NEED to put Republican majorities in the House, the Senate, the Presidency and ALL State Houses so that they, the Republicans can ‘clean’ up America.

It will be so much better when only ‘their’ voice is heard.

‘The number of Pennsylvanians who might not have the photo identification necessary to vote this November has more than doubled: at least 1,636,168 registered voters, or 20 percent of Pennsylvania voters, may not have valid PennDOT-issued ID, according to new data obtained by City Paper. In Philadelphia, an enormous 437,237 people, or 43 percent of city voters, may not possess the valid PennDOT ID necessary to vote under the state’s controversial new law’.

‘Pennsylvania admits it: no voter fraud problem’

‘A court filing by the state of Pennsylvania, ahead of a trial starting later this week on a lawsuit filed by civil rights groups against the state’s new voter fraud law, contains an astounding admission’:

‘The state signed a stipulation agreement with lawyers for the plaintiffs which acknowledges there “have been no investigations or prosecutions of in-person voter fraud in Pennsylvania; and the parties do not have direct personal knowledge of any such investigations or prosecutions in other states.”

‘Pennsylvania Republican: Voter ID Laws Are ‘Gonna Allow Governor Romney To Win’

‘This weekend, Pennsylvania Republican House Leader Mike Turzai (R-PA) finally admitted what so many have speculated: Voter identification efforts are meant to suppress Democratic votes in this year’s election’.

““Pro-Second Amendment? The Castle Doctrine, it’s done. First pro-life legislation – abortion facility regulations – in 22 years, done. Voter ID, which is gonna allow Governor Romney to win the state of Pennsylvania, done.”

But it’s NOT a Republican ‘War On Women’ – ‘Court Rules In Favor Of Lying To Women About Abortion Causing Suicide’

‘A South Dakota law that forces doctors to tell women that abortion causes suicide has been upheld by the 8th Circuit Court of Appeals. In a 7-4 decision, the conservative dominated court ruled that it is perfectly legal to pass laws requiring doctors to lie to women who want an abortion’.

‘With the ruling, every doctor in South Dakota must tell women who want an abortion that they are at risk of committing suicide, even though there is no scientific evidence that supporting any such link’.

‘The Republican-led South Dakota legislature passed the law in March 2005. The las was quickly challenged a in June of that year by Planned Parenthood Minnesota, South Dakota, and North Dakota. The law had been overturned by a three judge panel but the St. Louis based 8th Circuit reversed that ruling earlier this week. The seven judges who ruled in the majority are all George W. Bush appointees’.

‘So in their desperate bid to outlaw abortion and limit the reproductive rights of women, conservative judges have demonstrated that they are incapable of doing their jobs. Despite the complete lack of viable scientific and medical evidence proving that suicide is linked to abortion, the judges ruled that doctors can be forced to repeat false claims made by anti-abortion fanatics’.
