The Last Of The Millenniums

Just because it always has been, doesn't mean it always will be

Rush Limbaugh’s ‘Ignorance and Sophistry 101′ – “cops or firefighters or teachers” Limbaugh said. “They do not contribute to economic growth’.

From The Maddow Blog – “Nobody’s opposed to cops or firefighters or teachers — but they aren’t private sector jobs,” Limbaugh said. “They do not contribute to economic growth’.

When you have your Conservative friends repeat this after of course saying that they DON”T listen to Limbaugh, ask them this :

Teachers, police and firefighters don’t buy homes?
Homes that create jobs in manufactoring of lumber, nails, tools, wire, plumbing?
Homes that create jobs in construction?
Homes that create jobs in maintenance from carpenters, plumbers, electricians, home improvemnet stores, lawn care?

Teachers, police and firefighters don’t buy cars or trucks?
Cars and trucks that create jobs in manufacturing in the auto industry?
Cars and trucks that creat jobs in the part supply industry to those manufactures?
Cars and trucks that create jobs in the part supply industry for DIY’s and local auto repair and service businesses?
Cars and trucks that create jobs in the convience store and gas station industry.

Teachers, police and firefighters don’t buy food?
Food that creates jobs in the farming industry?
Food that creates jobs in the transportation industry?
Food that creates jobs in the retail sales sector?
Food that creates jobs in the restaurant industry?

Teachers, police and firefighters don’t buy clothes, appliances, cell phones, computers, musical lessons, fast food, books, music?…?….?…?…?…?

Yeah.

Teachers, police and firefighters ‘do not contribute to economic growth’.

Limbaugh is the embodiment of ignorance, the perfect Republican, in other words.

  2. You have to love the mouthpiece of the Republican party! It really makes you question the intelligence of those who follow him.

  3. This is an argument I make repeatedly, usually in threads. I’ll ask “how is a gov’t job not a real job? Do they not buy houses? Do they not buy cars? Do they not eat?” That usually shuts down the rant because, as you so thoroughly outliine, OF COURSE gov’t jobs are real job. And OF COURSE they contribute to the economy.

    • The other great ‘argument’ is ‘But MY taxes pay their salary’.
To which I respond ‘But they pay taxes so in effect THEY pay part of their salary. Do YOU pay part of your salary?’
