Fear and Loathing – ‘Gun Lobby Bombards Newtown Families With Robocalls Against Gun Regulations’

‘Newtown Action Alliance — a Sandy Hook-based, all-volunteer organization working to reduce gun violence and death — reported on Thursday that the National Rifle Association (NRA) is making robocalls and sending post cards to Newtown families asking them to oppose any new measures. The messages, first obtained by Christina Wilkie of the Huffington Post, warn that “Connecticut General Assembly are aggressively forging ahead with numerous proposals that are designed to disarm and punish law-abiding gun owners and sportsmen”:

The National Shooting Sports Foundation — a group which represents gun manufacturers — has also begun airing radio ads claiming that restrictions will “punish law-abiding citizens” and threatening that gun manufactures will leave the state and take away “thousands of jobs”:

What Congress Does – ‘Senate votes 53-46 to stop US from joining UN Arms Trade Treaty

When republicans aren’t busy filibustering and actually allow voting……..it’s amazing what the Senate can do.

On the first one, remember any treaty has to be approved by the Seante. Senator Inhofe introduced and it passed, legislation barring us from even taking part in negotiations.

‘Sen. James Inhofe (R-Okla.) introduced an amendment that would prevent the United States from entering into the United Nations Arms Trade Treaty in order to uphold the Second Amendment. His amendment passed on a 53-46 vote’.

Understaanding that it looked like a house of fools to ban us from even negotiating……

‘Sen. Patrick Leahy (D-Vt.) offered an alternative amendment that clarified that under current U.S. law, treaties don’t trump the Constitution and that the United States should not agree to any arms treaty that violates the Second Amendment rights. His amendment passed by voice vote’.
